Questions & Answers

Can you tell me what the actual depth is?

The depth you refer to is not clear to me. total length of the rod is 44 inches, including all links. Several tools can be used to clip off the bottom section of the water heater so that it can be shortened by about a foot if it is shorter than that. You can contact me directly with any questions using the contact seller button under our profile if there is anything else I can clarify.

Does each section last a certain amount of time? Can you tell me how much space there is between the ?

The length of each section varies between 8 and 10 pages. The length of the sentence should be 5". There are two flexible links between the sections. In addition to the crimps, the length is 75 inches.

The aluminum zinc type is different from the magnesium type, what's the difference? How much better is one type than the other?

Each of them performs the same function, but the reaction to the various minerals in the water varies. It is by far the most common type of anode, but certain water sources may not work with it. Magnesium is to be used when Magnesium doesn't work Aluminum Zinc is then to As of right now, there is no chart that can be used in advance to figure out how much it will cost Depending on where you live in the same town, the situation might differ. Most of the time, if you aren't sure and your water doesn't smell like sulfur, then your best option is Magnesium. In any case, it would be advisable to talk to a local plumber to determine the right type. You will be able to find out more about the types of water in your area from them.

When I remove the hot water pipe from my hot water heater, do I need to insert the anode rod in the anode rod?

Unless you have to remove piping, you shouldn't have to. Anode rods are typically installed in the tank using a fitting that is usually hidden by a small plastic cover. Once removed, you can see the anode rod fitting. Some of the top of the rod may be covered with a small layer of insulation. You only need to remove a small portion to reveal It is important to turn off the power to the hot water heater and shut off the supply of cold and hot water before you begin. It is a good idea to drain a gallon or so from the battery tank before attempting to remove I wish you the best of

This brand of water heater should fit my Whirlpool
5/5

My water heater is a Whirlpool 50 Gallon water heater (electric) and this Anode rod If you replace your Anode Rod, you will find the instructions on the box to be very clear and easy to follow. Anode rods are typically built to last three to five years, depending on the type of water you have running through your home.

If you're wondering, it depends on the type of water you're running. In many cases, those anode rods could need to be replaced before their expected lifespans are up. My old anode rod had to be removed with the help of a impact gun. In there was a rod that would not turn. I had a breaker bar and a helper bar, but that rod would not turn. I had to drain the tank to remove the rod, but only drained two gallons. I was able to use the impact gun thanks to my Using an impact gun will definitely work, I have a craftsman cordless impact gun and that did the trick, however I recommend that you go very slowly with it, and make sure you don't cross thread your threads in your tank or you will probably need to replace your In summary, I give this product a 5 out of 5 based on its ease of installation, the instructions are very helpful and clear, and it works perfectly.

It is capable of removing odors from a well
5/5

The only way to get rid of a rotten odor in a water well with a lot of iron is this. In order to counteract the interaction between the water and the heating element, aluminum / zinc anode rods are needed. A zinc/aluminum rod is needed to get rid of the mess left by aluminum and magnesium rods that are usually used in water heaters. The rods may also need to be removed and cleaned off about every 4 to 6 weeks if the problem is severe, so keep an extra rod handy to replace the old one after removing it, so that service will not be interrupted and you will have time to clean the old one.

I am now getting rotten egg smell in my hot water. Although I have no idea what sheerness is, I found it easy to install and my water is still warm, even though I don't think that had anything to do with anything. Several years ago, I replaced mine because the old one had at least 5 years left on it and I had a slight sulfur smell in one of the bathrooms that wasn't even related to the hot water line, so I should know. Since we replaced the original rod with this "aluminum/zinc" rod, we now have bad sulfur rotten egg odor from all of our hot water spouts. The only thing that has changed in the system is that it has been disabled, and no neighbors are experiencing the same problem. This rod did not perform as expected, so I'll try another flush and a new zinc rod before trying a powered rod. Other than being easy to install, this rod was a failure.

Getting rid of the odor
5/5

The anode rod was removed because I noticed that my electric water heater had a sulfur odor after it was installed. When I searched on the Internet to determine the possible cause of the odor after first turning on the heater, a lot of people suggested replacing the magnesium rod with an Having received the new magnesium rod so quickly was a big relief, as the original rod was difficult to break In order to remove this original rod I had to bend it because of low head clearance. As the new rod was being joined, it went in easily. It has been 3 weeks since we last smelled. With well water and a softener, this is the case.

The smell of rotten eggs has been eliminated
4/5

This heater is great for spaces with a tight fit. If your water heater smells like rotten eggs and you don't have a lot of space above it, then this is the product you need It is a well that we use since we live in the country. A recent problem with my electrical be caused me to replace my water heater. I noticed that my hot water developed a "rotten egg" smell as soon as I installed a new heater. Well water and magnesium anode rod are classics for well water. I used this product to preheat my 40 gallon electric water heater in the following manner. I am not a professional nor do I claim to be one. Your risk will be your gain if you follow this advice. It was something that I had to replace myself as a home owner. To prepare the heater for work, pre-turn off the power at the breakers and shut off the inlet valve, then drain about 3 gallons of water which is stored in the heater. To drain, open the purge valve located at the top of the heater and the valve at the bottom of the heater. The water will need to be caught somehow, such as with a standard garden hose connected to the drain valve. Water in the heater should remain mostly in order to keep it weighty, since the original anode rod will not easily be removed. On top of the water heater, you will find the plastic cap which labeled "anode" (see your owner's manual for location of part that is Take off the cap, then use a knife to remove the couple of inches of foam insulation covering the 1 1/16" bolt head. In my case, I cut along the circle hole by first pushing the knife down until it hit the metal and then pressing up. To remove foam as efficiently as possible, remove it from all parts of the piece. You do not need to throw away the foam "plug" that you Foam and plastic cap can be put aside for a later date. that you have access to the rod, you can use it. If using a breaker bar, you'll need a 1 1/16" deep socket, otherwise an impact will need to be used. I tried to do it with a breaker bar and still couldn't get it to come free without moving the water heater. The best I could do was to try. The world is kind to me. (I'm in my 30s and I'm A weight of 250 pounds). My solution ended up being an 18v Milwaukee impact wrench. It worked This is the kind of recommendation I would suggest. After removing the anode rod, you should be able to fix the corrosion. It was a few inches below the top of the heater, and I could not get my fingers in there. I ended up using needle nose pliers to grab It is okay to cut the rod in sections as you remove it if you do not have enough room to pull it out in one piece. To prevent the cutting blade from falling into the water heater, I used vise grips below the cutting area. In order to prevent this, I cannot emphasize this enough. It is as if you cut off the top If you fart water forever, you'll have it The tool I used was an 18-volt milwaukee sawzall with bi-directional The blade is made of metal. It is a possibility to do a second option if you do not wish to or are not equipped to cut the rod. We didn't do this option as we didn't find it to be a reliable option as it requires you to disconnect utilities you may not feel comfortable leaving connected. You can also drain most of the remaining water out of the heater using the drain valve at the bottom (Second option). However, not all of them. In order to safeguard the heating elements on the bottom of the heater, you must cover them. The plumber disconnected the plumbing from the heater for hot and cold water intake and output. If there is residual water in the lines, make sure there is something to catch it with. Connect the electrical wires that come into the water heater to ground. You must make sure that the power is off at the water heater and that there is no voltage there before touching it. Use a voltage tracer or a voltage meter to test the voltage. Do not touch anything electrical until you feel it is safe. Unless you are comfortable and capable, do not handle it. Using this method, you can pull the rod out intact by letting the heater rest on its side. The heater should be placed in roughly the same place and in the same orientation as it was taken out. Once the plumbing and electrical are reconnected, turn on the water heater. There is only one step left that can fix your water heater smell. This step is optional, but it should help to resolve the issue. For a 40 gallon heater, you can use 16 ounces of hydrogen peroxide to remove the egg smell from the tank and the My line began to smell right away after I did this. When the rod is removed from the water heater, you should clean any debris that may be in the hole or on the threads. You can prepare your anode rod by putting Teflon tape on the threads for a Then install it inside the You can use an impact or a breaker bar fitted with a 1 1/16" socket to tighten it. In addition to locking the impact, I also tightened the breaker bar, as a safety precaution.
Do you remember the foam plug and plastic cap you used to put in your socket? The insulation should be placed back on top of the anode rod, and the plastic cap should be fitted over it. ***Return the valve for the cold water inlet to its original position. Fill the water to the top. After the water is full, turn on the power again at the The peroxide needs time to work. Give it a chance to heat. Go to your furthest hot water spout and run it for a few minutes after an hour. All the others should be run for a few minutes after that. There is no need to do this, but it will help flush all the stink out of your septic system. Your task is completed! Over a week have passed since mine was installed, and not even the slightest hint of that smell remains. The anode rod needs to be changed every 2 to 3 years as it is a sacrificial rod and will dissolve away in the We hope you have a great day! Don't hesitate to get in touch with a professional if you don't feel comfortable.

You made a smart decision
5/5

The software installs quickly and easily. You can extend the life of your hot water heater by changing out the anode rod every few years, if you do that. My expectation was that the installation would be difficult, but it turned out to be quite simple.

Smell in the hot water was eliminated
5/5

The new water heater's anode is now made of this, which I used to replace the factory fitted one. I was able to completely get rid of the bad odor in my hot water. In this case, the only modification needed to be made was to remove a link at the bottom of the anode, as To cut the cable between the lowest sections, I simply used a bolt cutter. Easy to do.

This is an easy fix
5/5

It is a simple fix to this Because it has a sectional rod, it was much easier to install where the hot water heater is located.
