Product Description

Get rid of rotten egg smell with Aluminum Zinc Alloy Sacrificial Anode Rod that's made of high-quality Aluminum Zinc Alloy that's a key element for permanently removing rotten egg smell from the
Four parts hinged together make up an anode rod that is 44 inches long. Since each part is less than 12 inches, it is easy to replace the anode rods even if space is limited. By simply hacksawing it shorter, it will be safely cut.
KIT OF ALUMINUM ZINC ANODE RODS - Replacement of your water heater rod is the best way to extend the life of your tank by preventing corrosion! Anode Rod, Teflon Sealing Tape and 1-1/16" chrome finished socket are all included in one box, so you don't have to go out and buy them separately.
Compatible with almost all water heaters, including models A and B. There are many brands including Smith, Rhem, Reliance, Richmond, Kenmore, State, GE, and many more that use the standard 34" NPT anode rod connection.
Easy replacement of anodes - Anodes can be easily replaced and need to be replaced regularly. The only function of these bacteria is to decay your water heater, and that is exactly what they are going to In the event of full decay, the anode rod will be depleted, and then the heater will begin to rust, then crack, and then The anode rod on your water heater should be inspected and replaced every two years to ensure that it is reliable and you won't have to worry about it!

Questions & Answers

Our water tank is an Ao Smith 40 gal G-6 I have the T40334nv 400 and a water softener. Will this rod fit into both and how often should it be changed?

You will be able to use it. The height of your water tank is the first thing you need to check, and if it is too low, you can always trim the anodes. It has been 11 years since I replaced my tank, and I am replacing it for the first time. A lot of wear and tear had been put on it.

In the title of the part it says that it is magnesium, but in the illustration it says This is a zinc material, so which one Is it possible to have both at the same time?

To me, it was advised I use one made of aluminum. This is especially true if you smell like rotten eggs.

What is the difference between 44" and 45" tall? Can my 45" hot water heater be converted to 44" tall?

As long as your heater has only a 3/4 NPT connection, the cable can be cut with a hacksaw

It looks like this is the only thread for this one A 1/16 thread on a bolt head is right or left handed? In your drawing, the rotation from left to right to remove is shown clockwise. ?

The thread is a right-hand stitch

Cable made of stainless steel is not exactly stainless steel
4/5

It was not difficult to install the new sacrificial anode rod, but removing the current rod may be problematic. 80% of the old one had been worn out, so it had to be replaced. See attached image, there were light oxidations on the core cable so I put a magnet on it to check if it is stainless steel, I wasn't expecting it to stick strongly but it did, which leaves me in doubt about its invincibility against corrosion or rust. If the actual product is different from the description, the description may need to be changed.

You can extend the life of your hot water heater
5/5

Earlier on Facebook, I saw an advertisement indicating that one might extend the life of one's water heater. I think of myself as a maintenance kind of guy, so when I read the ad and watched the videos, I saw that the sacrificial anode in one's water heater could be changed to extend the tank's life. There was only one anode in our water heater and it was over 15 years old. As with 1 of the heater elements, I had already suffered from corrosion and electrical arcing, having replaced it several years ago, so I figured I should replace the sacrificial anode as well. My curiosity overtook me and I watched several videos on YouTube that demonstrated how to do that, ordering this part, especially liking that it came with a thin blade to cut the wires I needed a socket with a thin wall that would fit into the undersized hole at the top of my water heater (I already had 3 sockets with the right nut size, A walled enclosure). With this anode being segmented, it is easier to fit into the tank if you have a limited ceiling height. In order for the nut to be removed easily, rust penetration spray was sprayed on it. The photos you see on this page show that the anode on my old tank had been completely corroded down to the steel wire, and even part of it had fallen to the bottom. In the bottom of the tank was a layer of sediment measuring over 2 inches thick. After draining the tank and removing both heating elements, I chose to clean it completely. To remove the leftover moisture, I used a wet vac attached to a clear vinyl hose that could come through the lower hot-water supply There is a hose end tool for flushing the tank with a hot water tank washer attached to a water heater threaded hole and until all sediment has been removed from the tank. The process took a while as you can imagine.

At first, when I tried to put the rod through the threaded hole, it did not go through. To see what was happening, I used my cell phone camera and got a shot of the hole (I couldn't see over the top of the tank and used the flash to see what was happening). Mineral buildup was occluding the hole in the ash. Lime-Away to clean the mineral build-up and then a paring knife to remove the build-up. Once the rod had passed through the hole, it would be placed in the hole. The plumber's paste I used was a better electrical connection than the Teflon tape included in the unit (as recommended by several YouTube videos). All that remains is to reassemble everything and replace the two heating elements. It's likely that the tank can continue to function for at least another 8 years There should be a replacement of the sacrificial anode after 10 years. You can avoid the hassle and high cost of having to replace the whole tank when you do it regularly.

It is all but the 1/2 inch drive wrench that you need
5/5

An ideal socket is a six-pointed one, which will not slip. This drive is suitable for electric water heaters that contain extra foam insulation. The length is ideal for getting into electric water heaters. Eventually, the socket will become damaged and then becomes unusable. Included is a large amount of Teflon tape. There are two sockets in each box. A smaller anode with a smaller tank fits. The downside is not present. It is necessary when a plumber says it may be necessary to install a cheater bar. Allow the heater to cool for a few minutes after draining a little water. Once the old anode is removed, pull it It is helpful to have long nose pliers. A roll of Teflon tape is br>Did it work for you? Improved the smell of the water I drink from my well. You may also need to raise the thermostat temperature. I am now free of the smell. I cannot smell it and neither can my wife. The wife is content with her life.

There was a problem with two defective rods and a broken strand in the In response to an overhead restriction over the water heater, a segmented anode rod was ordered
3/5

The anode arrived quickly and with a 37mm socket that was properly fitted. A steel cable that runs through all four segments broke in half between the top and second segment, but the steel cable that runs through the top segment was unbroken. The cable would corrode and break if it failed, resulting in the lower 3 sections falling into the water heater permanently. Upon receiving a second one, I found the same problem. It appears that the rod has been folded for packaging/shipping reasons, with the bend radius too close together. This leads to the cable strands being broken. The vendor is not the same as the one I'll be ordering from.

As expected, it turned out as planned
5/5

I was expecting the rod to arrive on time. A new rod could not be inserted where the old one was. From my local auto parts store, I borrowed a loaner (free) 3 ft long extension bar to use with the socket I was provided. It would not budge no matter what I did, I added some water and I tried again late in the day and got 40 It's not going to happen. When I tried again, I added some Liquid Wrench It's not going to happen. more the following day and tried several times, and all of them were unsuccessful It's not going to happen. How tight do they need to make these now that this water heater (WH) is less than five years old. As a result, I had to drain and flush The WH had been flushed previously and there was very little sediment. It was refilled with water and the removal noted above was done. There may be a 500 lb gorilla in the room that I should utilize.

It's nice to have such an easy tool to Because it came with the rachet adapter tool, I bought it This is a great asset
5/5

In order to use it with my water heater, it had to be cut down to the appropriate length. Most water heaters are placed in tight areas where a long rod would be too long for them. So, I appreciate that it comes in links. I hope I can get a 2-year supply from it I have been working on it for four I did not have much trouble following instructions. I took 20 minutes to do You may want to shut off the water supply, release the pressure and let some of the water drain from the unit so that it will I appreciate it.

I would suppose that 27mm is about equal Hex socket that came with anode was 27mm, and it was not 1 1/16" in diameter
4/5

The anode was barely loose enough to get loose, but it failed to damage the existing one. It is hard to predict what would have happened if removing the existing anode with the 27mm socket had been a very difficult task. Since mine was purchased in 1995, it has served me well for a little over Although many of the anode materials were still intact when I tried to remove the old anode, it was hard to get everything off. It's really cool. The chance of it happening is only 1 in 100 It took 2 inches for the metal caked on the edge of the opening to catch. Since it didn't take much time to rescrew the old rod instead of chipping it off, I chose to do so. My new rod will just be stored for a 2-month period and then I will try again I have been on the job for three.

If you want to take out the old Android, you may have to use an impact wrench
5/5

In my case, the hot water tank sits on a stand. I only had 14 inches between the ceiling and my hot water tank, so am using segmented anodes. The unit was easy to install and was equipped with a socket to unplug the old anode and replace it with This one would be a great option if you are limited on.
