Questions & Answers

My unit no longer works correctly after I changed it, now hot air is coming from the right side and cold air is coming from the left side. What ?

In short, yes, both the pressure unit and the pressure gauge should be rotated The valve should be 180 degrees.

Would you please tell me how this is handled?

It is not necessary to service the unit. It must be replaced if it is faulty. assembled part is held together with three screws and a brass retainer ring.

What are the chances this will remedy my problem of not getting the desired water mix (cold and hot)? The water either comes out hot or cold, there is no middle ground. ?

You will be able to solve the problem if you just adjust the pressure balance unit and it will properly balance hot and cold water. It is determined by the model number of the faucet which PBU should be used. you need assistance with this, please contact us directly by clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the home page of the American Standard website and we will be happy to We, at American Standard Consumer Connections, would like to thank you for your business.

Do you know how many mounting screws there are?

The cartridge is the part that goes inside the plumbing fixture. You can see that it is "double-sided" There's a difference between it and the other two in that it's "walled" (thanks, Tona) and has scalloped edges instead of round edges A similar American Standard is US Standard A pressure balancing kit, part number 0070A. A brass holding plate M96184- is used to secure the device The 0070A code. Additionally, I changed the cartridge on the front of the faucet so that it can turn on/off by itself. There is a different part number AS952377- on the front cartridge I got from a plumbing supply store in town This is 0070A, just in case anyone gets it. After replacing both, I eventually had to buy a new one. Once the pressure balancing kit was installed, I turned on the water, turned it off, and tightened the screws once again while the water ran. First time it was tightened, it still dripped, but the second time it was a lot better. I was able to tighten it more and that stopped all the drips after I waited and then turned off the water again. The pressure may have caused it to "sit. ". I don't mind what the dripping is, so long as it's Thank you very much for all of the posts you read since I was reading a lot of stuff! I hope this helps!.

There are several types of American Standard shower faucets that are older (20+ years)
4/5

Each of the three baths has a single handle faucet from AS. They all leaked at one point or another. It was difficult finding the appropriate unit due to the fact that ours was older than 20 years. I researched this part for a long time but I couldn't find a replacement for older units with a larger round disk (see the gray disk). A new ceramic cartridge had not been sufficient to eliminate the leak in the downstairs shower after installation. Clearly, the balancing unit caused the leak, as I replaced both the cartridge and the pressure balancing unit. I'm not sure why the balancing unit caused it, but the leak stopped after I replaced both. As luck would have it, I had read a review where someone had reversed the older gray round disk onto the new unit (there are two small screws and nuts holding it in place). As you can see in the picture above, I carefully marked the top of the barrel of the new pressure unit so that it would match up with the round hole on the gray disk. In order to protect all of the connectors, I used a liberal amount of silicone grease My fingers were crossed as I wrapped my rings around them. I got the job done. I was also not able to get the assistance I needed from AS Customer Service despite their politeness. Still more to say. When I couldn't figure out how to fix it, I had a plumber come in. As I explained to him what the symptoms were, he became If you ran the washer or another shower during leaky faucet times, it typically leaked as well. There was way too much water pressure in the house, so he checked the pressure. There seems to be an issue with our pressure controller as well. I swapped the disk on the new pressure unit after replacing the controller. After the new controller was installed, the faucet continued to leak. As a precaution, I want others to be aware of this in case they have the same.

Make sure you order the right one before ordering the wrong one! I used this cartridge as well as the other one to fix my in-situ leaking They had a bathtub and a shower in their bathroom
4/5

I was expecting this unit to be hot =left and right, but based on the reviews I read before purchasing, it wasn't You are right when you are cold. It's all wrong. As a result, it was the right combination of hot and right The word cold is translated into left. A few words about my grandmother My law enforcement told me to simply leave it as they were happy that the leak had been Please do not heed what some have said in response to someone's question regarding how to correct the hot/cold side arrangement. To turn the cartridges and other parts 180 degrees is all that is required. The other outer cartridge needs to fit onto the handle in a precise direction for the lock screw to attach, whereas this cartridge has openings that need only to fit in a single direction for the outer cartridge to latch on the handle. If you followed their advice, though, the handle would be facing the wrong way. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure the openings on the back of the cartridge are located in the upper half of the part, not in the center, so they would not line up if you turned the cartridge 180 degrees.

The leak was stopped and the product worked well
5/5

In both cases, replace the devices. Hi folks. I've replaced both the Pressure Balance Cartridge and the Pressure Balance Unite per the recommendation of another review and my drip drop leak has been resolved. Here are some pictures you will be able to see. I'll be able to get a good night's sleep now that the water is not dripping and I won't waste Because water here is expensive, and we always try not to waste it, I am from a water-scarce state.

I am very pleased with the results
5/5

Earlier today, I had a problem with my mixer that no longer mixed. It was either cold or hot, with no in-between In the middle. In addition, I heard a knocking sound, as if the pipes were full of Two M952100s were bought by me These two documents were 0070A and A954 respectively. It seems that replacing one or the other part of part 4400070A will often lead to leaks. Since I was doing it just once, I ordered both at the same time and chose to replace them both for a lower cost. About 15 minutes of work and anyone who can turn a screwdriver should be able to do it. After a few minor setbacks yesterday, I'm back to normal, as far as functions related to water go.

A new shower head has fixed my leaky one! It didn't occur to me at first that you could replace the back portion of the pressure balancing unit
5/5

In the beginning, I purchased the Pressure Balancing CARTRIDGE (the part with the handle on the front) which did not resolve the leak any better. It wasn't until I saw another post that said you had to replace both the shower and cabinet that made me realize I needed to tear a hole in the wall and get to work replacing the shower unit. ZERO LEAK after a simple fix! Like a few others have said, I did not experience any problems removing the old one. The piece popped out without a struggle after I loosen around its edges with a flat screwdriver and some needle nose pliers. It worked just fine after I applied a little Plumbers grease to the rubber parts and the new slid in smoothly. Just verify there is nothing still inside the old one before inserting the new one, as I had a few small pieces break off.

This is a free offer from American Standard, however it takes a month to get delivered
5/5

You can buy this to stop your shower from leaking. The cap stopped our leak, and the cartridge itself should be replaced along with it. There is a free version available through American Standard as part of the warranty, but orders are backlogged for weeks or months before they can be shipped. The housing was given a quick light sanding to rid it of hard water deposits after I installed it with plenty of lube.

Look at the grey lip on the old one after removing the old one
5/5

My bottle had double walls like the one pictured on Amazon, so I ordered it there. Added a hand held shower head to fix my low water pressure issue. You can find at least 3 types of these units by American Standard. Try removing your old one and take a closer look at the grey lip before you buy one. The one I had was double walled like this one pictured on Amazon, so I bought this one and it fit perfectly.
