In the unlikely event you drop your original Moen retainer clip and it is impossible to retrieve no matter what, this one will secure the faucet as well as the original one you so carefully placed. If you have a picture of the retainer clip to make sure, I would refer to that. Headingly lost. Not sure who makes retainers, but I'm pretty sure this is the only configuration. My temporary retainer was made from a paperclio, and it worked well. It just didn't seem worth the risk of it popping off in the long run. It's hard to tell, but the paper clip may have been a permanent fix.
The clip was excellent for replacing the old one. As I tried to remove the rough-in for the Moen Positemp, I loosen my original down inside the wall. Valve is a company in the video game industry. A "removal tool" was needed to remove the valve from Moen 1222 cartridges because it was stuck so tightly. I had to replace the clip before I could use this, but it worked fine once it was installed. Two of the two I bought I made a note of them, so if I need to fix a client's shower faucet I will know where to find the right clip Using your hands.
