It is not attached to the tail piece. Another piece, the same diameter, short, and with a small angled extra input that is 7/8, must be attached below the drain tailpiece, and the two 7/8 barbs must be connected with a short piece of flexible hose.
I don't sell anything, and that item was included with the faucet I bought.
This will act as a backup plan. For a dishwasher that has been installed, there is a flow prevention device.
We don't have any issues with that. A small amount of dishwasher discharge water spills from the gap from time to time, but no sewage odor has ever been detected. Where I live, this device is required by law, and I believe there is a good reason for it.

It's easier to connect to the disposal because the exit tube is more angled than most. After receiving a Home Depot product with a "brushed nickel finish" that turned out to be grey plastic with a bit of glitter, I decided to go with the Kohler version. Although the plastic forked body of the Kohler version is of the same quality as the HD version, it is made of real steel with a real brushed nickel finish. br>When compared to other brands that offer a real steel cap with a suitable finish, the Kohler's main feature is that the return branch of the forked body forms a large angle with the vertical, which is very useful when installing the air gap to empty into the disposal. The connection to the disposal is not far below the air gap if you connect to it. With a nearly vertical return tube, a sharp elbow is required, which clogs easily, but with that larger angle, only a mild curve is required. br>So, 5 stars for the cap, 5 stars for the larger fork angle if the return to the disposal is installed, but only 3 stars for the body quality (as with all others).
Due to the flimsy lower gland nut, the installation time was increased by twofold. As I tightened the upper nut, it kept becoming cross threaded. You'd need two installers to avoid this. One person is in charge of the lower section, ensuring that it is level. The upper nut is tightened in the second step. I think I went back under four times to pull the unit out and reseat the lower nut. The flexible lower plastic nut jumps a few threads if the tube is cocked for any reason. In my opinion, cheap materials on a classy name are not a good combination.
Because my sink faces the sun, the old dishwasher air gap began to crack after 20 years. I needed to replace it because it was leaking, so I went with the KOHLER K- 9110- Because it matches my existing faucet, I chose the BN Air Gap Body with Cover, Vibrant Brushed Nickel. I got rid of the old air gap. This new air gap has been installed in place of the previous one. Get a small amount of petroleum jelly to help you install the hoses back on the new air gap. the hose should be lubricated To make it easier to slide, there's an air gap barb on the back. I haven't had a single issue in over two months. br>If I notice anything, I'll update this.
I would not purchase this item again. This Kohler 9110- was purchased for $27. I ordered a BN air gap from Amazon, only to discover that the internal components are identical to the $11 one I bought from Lowe's four years ago. (As shown in the illustration). When you remove the top to clean them out, these cheap air gaps easily break (see photo). The Kohler cap is metal, unlike the plastic cap from Lowe's that appears to be metal. So, in essence, I paid more than twice as much to replace a poorly designed part with a similar part (made in China). I'd look for a stronger air gap. To avoid overflows, these must be cleaned out on a regular basis, which necessitates easy access. To clean them out, Amazon sells a short thin snake with a bottle brush tip that can be run through the larger pipe into the disposal or drain pipe; keeping this clean is important because you're relying on gravity to drain the water the dishwasher pumps out into the disposal or drain line through the air gap.
I just installed a new kitchen, and the majority of these items are dingy. I didn't want to spend all that money only to have to look at some cheapo item every time I used the sink. This goes well with my brushed nickel finishes and looks great. It's also made of real metal. (The majority of the items are made of low-cost plastic).
I suppose most air gaps are loud, but that is my only criticism of this one; it appears to be especially loud. We have a very quiet dishwasher, so the air gap noise may be more noticeable as a result, but this one is definitely louder than the one it replaced. But . It appears to be very good.
My kitchen was recently renovated, and I had to replace my stainless steel faucet with a brushed nickel one. This was simple to set up and matches my Bosch dishwasher perfectly. The finish is lovely, and the piece is compact enough to fit under your sink. If you need to replace yours and want a brushed nickel finish, this is the one to go with.
This is a nice-looking and useful accessory. br>br>The body is made of plastic and fits perfectly in my standard sink. There is no plastic in the cap, which is made of stainless steel with a brushed nickel finish. br>br>I'd buy it again, but I think it'll last a long time.
