My first thought is that it would have to be bolted to a floor, I am not sure I could trust the cast iron top. When pressure is applied, the cast iron top may break. Just my two cents.
There is a dark grey hue to it. Buying a grinder was on our shopping list. In truth, the item came in grey, not white as the picture suggests.
Given that I am not at home at the moment (on the road), I would have to guess. My guess is that it measures 36 to 42 inches in height.
It was mounted with an 8" jet grinder and it was a perfect fit.

I must have been affected by reviews about this item being poorly packed because mine was delivered very well packaged. A scratch is not present. I would use this in a factory since it is bulletproof. There is a lot of paint on it, and it is very heavy. It would be even more stable if the central tube was filled with sand. Even without bolting it down, it will be able to stand by itself. My first 5 star review may be the only one I've ever written. A very good job was done by Jet.
I got this about a year ago and I really like Although the top plate isn't made for it, I was able to bolt it down without having to drill more holes. I use it with Craftsman 8" grinders. Since I previously bolted my grinder to a workbench, it made me a little nervous about stability. It turned out to be no big deal, There is no wobble in this chair because it's heavy enough. Kids are going to get it bolted down if I have them.
It has a reasonable metal thickness and weight and is fairly stout. However, the top plate was missing from the stand I received! Amazon pointed me to a number for Jet by giving me the number for A new stand was shipped to me and I was given a shipping label via email. The package was heavily damaged when it arrived at my door. The manufacturer (JET) was notified as the center support post was damaged and a replacement has been sent. I was told to contact Amazon since that is the place where it was sold. No one from Amazon has contacted me. This post is nice and sturdy, but the damage on the side makes it look a bit cheap.
After cancelling this item initially, I realized that it was too late to cancel.
