Where did this grinder come from?

The Chinese, to be precise. Despite my regrets, I am obligated to inform you. It's not a bad idea, in my opinion. I haven't been able to burn it out despite my best efforts.

Is it necessary to tighten the bolts in order to prevent vibrations?

Because you'll be grinding under pressure, you'll need to bolt it down to keep the machine stable. It doesn't vibrate much, but it will need to be secured to a desk. I read in one of the reviews not to overtighten it, so I made sure it was snug but didn't overtighten it. When I grind with it, there is very little vibration, and it performs admirably.

Is it possible to use a 1 grinding wheel? Do you know how wide an inch is?

On mine, the wheels were 1 inch in diameter, and there are a number of low-cost grinders on the market. It appears to be a good one after the first time it appeared to work. This has been fantastic from my perspective.
