I sand a lot of hardwoods like cherry, maple, and ash in my woodworking hobby. I keep it folded over on contoured surfaces and keep it fastened in sanding blocks when I want to keep things flat. 80, 120, 180, and a smidgeon of 220 grit are the grits I use. I've tried a number of different brands, some of which were expensive and others which were not. Norton sandpaper is now my only option. It cuts well and has a long shelf life, which I appreciate.
In 2005, I first came across this product at Home Depot and decided to give it a try because of the anti-bacterial properties. On the package, there are a lot of claims to fill out. It turned out to be wonderful. It not only didn't pick up old paint, but it also kept cutting *long* after standard AO sandpaper had stopped. br>br>Fast forward to last week, when I used the final sheet from the 20 3-sheet set. "Jobpack/Bonus Pack" sheet, and returned to HD in search of more. Of course, HD no longer carries this item, so I settled for 3M Pro Grade no-slip grip (tm) backing sandpaper, which they now have. Because of the reinforced backing, it is said to last 7X longer than standard sandpaper. Puh- lease. br>br>After that dissatisfying discovery, I immediately went online and found the Norton 3X sandpaper in all the grits I needed on Amazon. After three days, USPS delivered my package, and I was back to using Norton 3X. The package claims that this is the "World's Best Sandpaper. " br>br>I was relieved to discover that Saint-Gobain continues to produce 3X sandpaper in Canada. Gobain.
I recently ran out of this grit and had to repurchase it. It's usually the first thing that comes to mind when I'm looking for something to do. In my woodshop, I use grit for a variety of tasks. It's simple to vary the amount of sanding that takes place by varying the time spent sanding and the pressure used. I get four pieces to the sheet using my hand sander. As a result, it has a long lifespan.
I've been using Norton for a long time. I've tried other brands, but I'll continue to use Norton products.
It is without a doubt the best I have ever used. I believe I've tried each one. Long-lasting, with less sheet tearing and excellent cutting and smoothing capabilities.
Anything else is a waste of time. Compared to other papers, this sand paper makes the job SO much easier! I don't know much about this; all I know is that I tried to save money by using other brands, but it was a complete waste of time and caused me a great deal of frustration. STUFF I REALLY LIKE!.
My friend was having trouble finding Norton sandpaper in the grit he needed at local home improvement stores, both big chains and small neighborhood stores, and it was his preferred brand of sandpaper. He creates one-of-a-kind custom furniture, so he's a bit picky. I was delighted to discover his grit in his preferred brand.
The box does a good job of storing the paper. I cut it into quarters to use as a handkerchief and a tablecloth. my palm sander for sheets I make bowls out of green wood and work on other odd projects, so I sand a lot. For years, I've relied on Norton sandpaper because it's the best. It's fantastic that you can buy it in such a large quantity.
