Questions & Answers

Is it compatible with a Hitachi 4 1/2 inch grinder?

I'm not sure about the Hitachi 4 1/2, but it seems to work on a Bosch 5 " and a Makita 7 ", so it should work on the Hitachi as well. I had to go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a universal nut with a centering washer.

Is it possible to use this disc with a galaxia angle grinder?

Yes, it is possible. It includes a bushing that will fit a five-eights arbor. Before you start your tool, make sure the disc isn't touching the guard. Use a full face mask, clamp your wood firmly to a stable surface, and hold the grinder firmly with two hands if it comes into contact with the gaurd. These tools can be dangerous, so wear a full face mask, clamp your wood firmly to a stable surface, and hold the grinder firmly with two hands if it comes into contact with the gaurd. Once you get the hang of it, it's a fantastic tool. These are my preferred planers over the arbortech planers, which are quite expensive.

Is it possible to sharpen a carbide tip with this?

NO, this tool is for wood sculpting; for carbide tips, see 3 Inch Flat Shape Diamond Grinding Wheel 150 Grit 1/2" Bore for Grinder Cutter Grinding Metal Hard Alloy Glass Tiles Ceramics (78x12.) on Amazon. $20 (7x10x10mm). 00 + postage

Is it possible to use these with a Dewalt die grinder?

The Shaping Wheels are compatible with the majority of Dewalt '4-in-1' tools. The Kutzall 1/4" Shaft Burrs will fit most Dewalt Die Grinders, but they are not compatible with 1/2" Angle Grinders.

Selected User Reviews For Kutzall Extreme Shaping Disc - Coarse, 4-1⁄2" (114.3mm) Diameter X 7⁄8" (22.2mm) Bore - Woodworking Angle Grinder Attachment for DeWalt, Bosch, Milwaukee, Makita. Abrasive Tungsten Carbide, SD412X90

I bought this shaping disk to make bowls out of walnut logs that I had cut down
5/5

It works great, but there is a lot of dust. I started by removing a bunch of the material with a forstner bit on my drill press, and then I used my angle grinder's shaping disk. This thing works, but it kicks out a lot of fine sawdust, as everyone else has said. I made a three-sided hood to attach to my dust collector to help capture some of the dust, but I still wore a good dust mask. Although some sanding was required, the shaper was simple to operate and produced the desired shape. I cleaned my teeth with a wire brush.

Teeth fell out
3/5

Given all of the positive reviews, I wasn't expecting to be disappointed, but alas, I was. br>br>I purchased this in order to carve laminated plywood - There were no nails, screws, or metal of any kind used in the construction; instead, plywood was glued together. Within the first hour, a third of the teeth had broken off, and the wheel was completely destroyed by the end of the day. br>br>It's only worth $20.

Quickly removes wood
5/5

I used this to distress some faux beams to give them an undulating planer look, and it worked out much better than I expected. Compared to a Festools or Makita planer, it saved me hundreds of dollars. In the future, I'm sure I'll come up with new ways to carve wood with it.

This is the most incredible shaping disc I've ever used, and I literally plowed through 3/4" layers of hard maple like it was soft pine! I plowed through 3/4" layers of hard maple like soft pine! The tool is well behaved and does not grab or drag you off balance
5/5

It comes highly recommended!.

I've been using orange Saburr Tooth discs, which aren't quite as aggressive
3/5

They're abrasive to say the least!! So that my angle grinder doesn't get away from me, I glued a work glove to it! However, the idea of the Kutzall being 1/2" larger in diameter appealed to me. That was a fantastic part. However, I believe the Saburr Tooth is nearing the end of its useful life. So it's one color down from the Saburr Tooth's most aggressive, and I had to investigate further.

I don't usually write reviews, but this is a fantastic product
5/5

But it went above and beyond my expectations to the point where I had to write:br>- It's dependablebr>- It's a very well-balanced piece of music. It's so well balanced, in fact, that it has a gyroscopic effect that keeps the tool upright.
- It is surprisingly quiet, given what it does.
- Rather than the large chunks I expected, it produces fine sawdust. Despite the fact that this is the coarse model, it produced an unexpectedly smooth finish.
- It also appears to be quite appealing. br>br>In my application, I needed to hog out a 1-hour slot. An 8-inch wide and 1/2" deep slot on the inside of an 8-inch wide and 1/2" deep slot on the inside of an 8-inch wide and 1/2" Our porch columns have a foot column wrap that I made. On another of the columns, I used a variety of tools and it took an eternity (maybe 45 minutes). I finished the job in under three minutes using this tool. br>br>This product and others like it may appear to be a bit pricey, but given the time saved, it's difficult to argue that it wasn't worth it.

THIS IS ACTUALLY USEFUL! This is what I'm using to form oak
5/5

With the more aggressive shaping Kutzall discs and sanding discs, cedar can be turned into benches, tables, chairs, and bowls. A chainsaw is also available, but that isn't really relevant here, is it? Nah. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b This little one is capable of removing wood! Even hard wood, such as dried cedar, is quickly chewed into and sprayed with a fine dust that smells great but gets everywhere. After a full day of nearly continuous use, I haven't noticed any wear or broken teeth, but the texture is fine enough that individual teeth aren't visible. This is about the same as a 60 grit sanding disc, but it lasts a lot longer. br>br>The bad: None at all, to be honest. You must be aware of your surroundings at all times - It eats wood quickly and produces a lot of torque on the angle grinder when the disc is spinning. Use both handles and maintain a firm grip. br>br>Highly recommended if you're working on more than a small project; however, for the same price, you can get about 30 sanding discs, so if you don't think you'll use that many over time, think twice. This isn't a low-cost option.

It's fantastic
5/5

Works great, is easy to control, cuts like a dream, and easily removes a lot of wood. I'm making a bowl out of an oak burl, and it easily removes the oak! I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a high-quality tool, and I would and will purchase it again if the need arises.
