Questions & Answers

is it 4- 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch by 7/8 inch? I see it's only listed as a 4-star rating. 7/8 x 1/2 inch Pls help. Tks?

Yes. 41/2" in diameter x 1/4" thick, with a 7/8" bore

I'd like to reduce the thickness of a door by 3/8 inch. Is this suitable for the position?

This is primarily used to grind metals. A saw, not a grinder, is required to cut 3/8" wood. br>Thank you very much.

Will this work to remove paint from a utility trailer so that it can be repainted?

Yes, this would be appropriate for your needs.

Is this compatible with the Dewalt DWE 402k angle grinder, which has a 4 1/2" diameter?

The arbor hole size for the DW83409 Grinder is 7/8", while the arbor hole size for the DWE402K Grinder is 5/8".

Selected User Reviews For DEWALT Flap Disc, Zirconia, 4-1/2-Inch x 7/8-Inch, 80-Grit (DW8309)

I'm a typical shade tree mechanic, and as a result, someone who enjoys and is skilled with tools
5/5

However, I couldn't see how an angle grinder would be useful on a regular basis. I used one every now and then and didn't give it much thought. I learned about the different types of heads (cutters, sanders) that can be used on different projects as I progressed. This DeWalt 80 grit flap disc works well for general grinding, or sanding, as the case may be. Angle grinder changeovers are usually simple. As a result, if you weld, you can use an angle grinder to shave down burrs, grind off nuts and bolts, sharpen mower blades, axes, chisels, and whatever else you have around the house. Obviously, DeWalt is a well-known brand name, which is difficult to be when you consider a low price point. In terms of performance and dependability, so far, so good. This is something I strongly suggest.

Sharpening mower blades requires only a flapper
5/5

These discs are the best way to hone a blade without removing too much material, and I'm serious about blade care. They are long-lasting and simple to use.

They work quickly and produce a lot of dust
5/5

They're also quite durable. br> I only used particleboard subflooring for one of two different flooring jobs. One was a ring around a toilet flange that was 9 to 10 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick. It was pulverized in a matter of minutes. The second was a spot beneath a desk where a customer's dog would pee. It had a circular shape with a diameter of about twenty inches and a height of about three eighths of an inch in some places. In a matter of minutes, the same disk leveled it out. Despite the fact that the disk appeared to have more life in it (it smelled like dog urine), I threw it away.

Don't send discs that have been used or expired
3/5

Although I have nothing against Dewalt, this is a high-quality product, the Amazon store sold and shipped two DW8310 discs on this order. One disc had clearly been used, with the majority of the sanding grit having worn away. It had no packaging and was simply thrown into the box. It's completely unacceptable to send out used goods or someone else's return. Receiving used or old (discontinued) products, on the other hand, is an all-too-common occurrence in this industry. Furthermore, because most of the discs sold here are not made in the United States, they lack the required expiration date stamped on the wheel. The most dangerous tool to use is a grinding wheel. br>br> Grinding discs can break apart over time as the bonding material deteriorates, which is why they have an expiration date stamped on them. When using cut-and-paste methods, there are already enough dangers. Grinding wheels and off-road wheels are two types of wheels that can be used. I won't use expired abrasive discs because I don't want to increase the risks. I replaced these by ordering them directly from the manufacturer and paying the extra shipping costs. With the exception of cat litter and other non-essential consumables, I'll be doing this. Investing a few dollars more in new is well worth it.

Sharpen the blades of your lawnmower
5/5

I bought it to sharpen the blade on my lawnmower. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. It only took a couple of passes to get a nice, sharp blade. It doesn't get any better than this. It appears to be well-made, and the price is fair. Sharpening mower blades is highly recommended. br>br> Angle grinders should be used with personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines.

For shaping large pieces of wood, this is an excellent option
5/5

I'm shaping an 8' bench out of a cottonwood slab with this product and my angle grinder. This flap disc quickly removes wood and, with care, can also be used to smooth out rough areas. This isn't a fine-finishing or sanding tool for wood, but it can get you to the point where you're ready to sand. If you're into chainsaw carving, this flap disc combined with an angle grinder will allow you to rough finish your carving product quickly and easily.

Cutting that is aggressive
5/5

I use it to trim the hooves of goats. It's a cinch to use. I use clippers to give the hooves a quick trim, then grind them flat with a finish grinder. It really works. br>br>Had one goat with advanced hoof rot, which was treated and stopped, and a few trims with this grinder had all his feet back in shape, which I couldn't do with my hand clippers because there was too much dead hoof material to remove, which made it much easier and surprising to me, the goats didn't; It doesn't appear that they are bothered in the least. All of their hooves are much more consistent. br>br>.
