The Wagner paint eater's shaft has a proprietary threading that differs from the standard 5/8"-thread. The Wagner Paint Eater does not have an M14 thread, which is typical of angle grinders. Wagner has their own set of discs for this reason. Basically, they want you to be a part of their tool's ecosystem.
IN THIS SPECIFIC APPLICATION, I HAVE NEVER USED THESE DISCS. They'll undoubtedly work, but bear in mind the following: They'll eat into the fiber glass if you don't use a light touch. They must be held perfectly flat against the surface (convex surfaces are fine, large concave surfaces are more difficult, and small concave radiuses necessitate hand sanding). Even if multiple passes are required, keep the grinder moving to avoid overheating the surface. The guard on the grinder must be removed, which necessitates extra care: the side handle (left for right-handers, right for left-handers) left-handed use, and the other way around for right-handed use The threaded stud attachment (one of the standards - right-handed use) must be long enough. If necessary, lengthen the handle and add a hilt/guard to keep your hand from coming into contact with the disc - The result would be chaos). Having said that, I believe these discs are a useful tool for the job.
The oxidation will almost certainly be removed. Allow the grinder to do the heavy lifting, which means applying minimal pressure. If you want a polished look, it might be a little harsh on the rims.
It is designed to be used with a 4 1/2" grinder and not a drill. It connects to the grinder using an arbor shaft, which can be found in most home improvement stores.

This is the second time I've placed an order. This time, I went after some concrete on the porch that had been painted several times over the course of the home's hundred-year history. I tried water blasting, paint stripper, and scraping to remove the paint, but none of these methods worked. So I tried them out (I had two left over from a previous job on wood) and they work great. They even polish the concrete by removing a thin layer of the surface. It was a lot of work; it took eight of the pads to cover about 40 square feet of concrete with multiple layers of oil and water-based paint, but they now look fantastic. br>br>First Time Buying - I have a century-old historic home that I'm slowly renovating/updating, and as a result of the various jobs, I have a lot of paint to strip from the brick home's exterior trim. I tried scraping and sanding with 40 grit sanding discs on an orbital sander, and it wasn't getting me anywhere quickly enough. Today I tried these Black Hawk pads% I'm extremely happy. Once you've gotten the paint down to the final, original layer, you'll need to be cautious. You'll start eating into the wood if you're too aggressive at this point. It's just a matter of being cautious. There's nothing easy or quick about removing seven or more layers of oil and latex paint, but these techniques make it possible.
As a hobbyist, I've been welding metal for a few years and have often used a grinding disc to prepare my surfaces for welding. Because so much of my material is exposed to the elements, it has surface rust that I've spent dozens of hours trying to remove. br>br>I decided to take a chance on these stripping discs, and wow, I feel like I won the lottery. These devices instantly remove the surface treatment and oxidation from metal. It's a million times better than grinding. I was astounded by how quickly and cleanly the surface of my metal was cleaned after just one pass. br>br>I've attached some photos of a heavily surfaced vehicle. Before and after stripping a rusted piece of box steel with this stripping disc. This is literally a two-second job. br>br>I've been using these discs for a few days and they don't appear to be wearing out quickly. I'm not going to run them over any rough terrain. Just a little oxidation and paint on the surface. These discs fit snugly against the angle grinder's safety guard, but they slide right through without dragging.
I used to use the 3m version of this product, which cost $14 per unit. For half the price, this product lasts twice as long and performs just as well. These stripping wheels come highly recommended by me.
I've used many different stripper wheels to remove rust and paint from steel over the years, and the Black Hawks are by far the best. The cost of a Black Hawk is much less. Some of the ones I've tried cost $24 each and last four times as long. They are much more efficient. Steel is cleaned off much more quickly by Black Hawks. They have a much longer lifespan. When you use other brands, 1/8" chunks fly off while you're using them. That, by the way, does not feel good (as I'm sure everyone reading this can attest). If you're using a shroud, depending on the arbor on your grinder, it might be a little tricky to get it set up at the right depth. I'm using a Makita vac shroud on a Bauer grinder, and I had to mix and match plates from an old Dewalt grinder to get the depth just right. They cut extremely quickly and do not clog up on latex. I wouldn't use it on metal because it burns too quickly, but it's perfect for wood siding or decking because it cuts quickly and doesn't break down. On a single disc, I can easily strip 1000 squares. If you come across some nails, you should stop. But that's a different story altogether. The final product isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than I had hoped for. One pass with 220 on a DA on my siding was sufficient to clean it up.
I had purchased a Gator brand Paint and Rust Stripping Wheel from Lowes and had previously used it to strip paint from an old metal medical cabinet. It's most likely from the 1940s. The paint was very thick in the 1950s, and the cabinet had rusted through the paint in most areas. I purchased these after reading online reviews claiming that they lasted much longer and performed better. I can attest to this because I had the opportunity to use one of these wheels today when the Gator's wheel became unusable. The Gator wheel had left behind a very fine but slightly rough layer of rust/paint that would not come off no matter how hard I scrubbed it. I moved on to a section I hadn't worked on before using the BlackHawk wheels, and wow, what a difference! It sped through the layers of paint and went straight to the metal, unlike the Gator, which left a layer! I then went over the parts that the Gator had missed, and the BlackHawk breezed through it in no time; I only wish I had started with these discs in the first place because I would have finished much sooner. The only thing I noticed with these that I thought was a minor issue was that they caused my grinder to vibrate a lot, making it impossible for me to use the handle. It wasn't a big deal because I just grabbed the grinder's body and used the handle as the wheel wore down.
After receiving a quote to have the metal furniture sandblasted, I had pretty much given up on my project. Then I came across this tool, which does the job for a reasonable price; however, you should buy several of them because they wear out quickly. (I only used the tool to remove the rusted and flaking areas, not the bare metal, because a table and four chairs required two. ).
In about 7 hours, I was able to strip my four-door Infiniti G35 down to bare metal. WOW! Guys, you've done an amazing job! I'm blown away! I had a DA orbital and a box of various papers ready to go, but I won't need to use them until later. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THESE STRIPS DISCS, AND I WILL BUY MORE AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THEM: This was a very simple five-star review, and I wish I could say the same about everything I bought from Amazon. I slapped them on my makita cordless grinder for a fantastic tag team combination!.
