Questions & Answers

Could you please let me know if they can be shipped ?

Considering my receipts were sent to me in France, I might think so.

By the look of the technical details, it appears that there are three gouges and Do you understand me correctly?

Three pieces had their own handles, and I bought a set that had all three. ideal for a beginner who wants to learn how to sharpen tools and for anyone who is interested in the price range. In any case, you are not going to be able to buy three gouges for less than $75 if there is better metal available.

How big is this art piece? Can you tell me how long the handle is? Can you tell me how long the tool is?

My tools have proven to be very sturdy and strong, even though I am just beginning to woodwork. Measurements range from 13 1/2 to 15 inches for the handles. There is a total length of 22 1/2 to 25 inches for this tool. You'll enjoy it.

In what way does the tool's HRC differ from other ?

The hardness of steel and how it is rolled are essentially two aspects of steel. Hardened steel is used to make the tools.

I am amazed by the gouges
5/5

Since I am only a relatively new turner, I don't have a lot of experience with these, but I bought them to replace the bowl gouge that came with a starter set I purchased previously and have so far been very pleased. There is a tendency for new turners to expect tools to be ready for use right out of the box, but I think you'll find out pretty quickly that manufacturers don't bother to smooth the edges or shape the grinds before 99 is the reason for this. Even after being grinded, 9% of turners still grind their own tools. first started this hobby and was trying to spend as little money as possible, this can be frustrating because you don't always have the tools (bench grinder with slow speed, sharpening jig, etc. ) to consistently A piece of advice I'd like to give you is to invest in this equipment While you will miss out on some short-term savings, longer term you will spend less time trying to figure out how to keep your tools sharp and more time enjoying your As soon as I got these, I did fingernail/irish grinds on them and I have been extremely pleased with them. This is a fantastic price too. I couldn't afford the Sorby's and Pinnacle's of the market (I'm sure they are worth the money, but they are similar to a beginning golfer who has a great set of golf clubs), but as a beginner, they work well.

The price is great and the quality is reasonable! This set of turning tools has exceeded my expectations in every way! Now that I will be turning bowls on a regular basis, I decided to expand my skill set
4/5

I decided to check out these options and read the reviews and gave them a go! Despite being in fairly good condition and having nicely turned and finished handles, mine arrived in a reasonably sharp condition. I went to the shop right away and turned a few bowls with these. In anticipation of trying them out, I turned several. There was one snap when I used it for the first time! Customer service handled the replacement quickly and easily, though I would have been upset if the situation had been handled differently. According to the analysis of the broken edge, it was caused by a flaw in the metal (bad luck), and it has been replaced successfully! As part of full disclosure, I thought it important to mention this. In the future, I intend to buy a lot more from this brand as the price is a good deal and the quality is fantastic. I still use the Craftsman gouges I grew up using in my shop, but they have a much nicer feel to them.

Comparison of the spindle and the teeter
5/5

To bowl using bowling tools. The gouges shown here are certainly superior, and for those who think there is no difference between bowl gouges (or tools in general), and spindle tools, this photo should give them an insight into this matter. I have some spindle tools on the left, and I have my bowl gouges and scrapers on the right. When you make spindles, you are using the grain, riding the bevels, and letting the wood take you where it wants to go. If you are making anything other than bowls or boxes, you need to When it comes to spindle items, you're going with, and against the grain at the same time (the difference is similar to how pealing a banana differs from Conducting business in a There is a greater need for counterbalance when handling spindles. I'll share a safety tip with you right now When changing from one fuel type to another, always wear a respiratory mask The spindles should be especially tight when turning a log. In spite of the most meticulous safety measures, I have found that sometimes a catch will throw the log into the air, and (one time) my face will be struck with it. Wear a safety mask that is ansi / osha approved. You should also begin at a slow pace.

A good set of gouges
4/5

The bowl gouges in this set are my first but I have been able to compare them to Crown, Henry Taylor, and Sorby ones. The knives are not quite as finely ground as the British models but they sharpen well and hold their edge for quite a while. I use Thompson grinds on all of them and they work flawlessly for me. came with a standard bowl grind, but were not too sharp on delivery. This wasn't too big of an issue since I was planning to modernize the grind from the start. One of the reasons I gave it a 4 star review is that it seems that half of the gouge on the rod is twisted half way down, which makes my Vari Grind slightly off center on the rod. As I know this now, I can compensate during sharpening in order to get an even sharpening The first couple of tracks are a bit grind, but it would be nice to see them straight.

The price is reasonable
4/5

The three tools are not as durable as some of the high end products, but with a high grit CBN wheel available, they are just a quick touch up and they're ready to go with minimal time or material lost. These are good value for the price. Those who are just beginning or intermediate turning need some additional options to add to their toolbox. I recommend these for them.

Those are great bowl gouges for a first set
5/5

It follows that Thus far, it has proven to be well built, heavy, long, easy to sharpen, and holds its edge well. One thing I've made was really tricky, and it was the most challenging thing I've made so far. These nice gouges would never have allowed me to complete the project. Here is a video and picture I'll post. The items are impressive for a novice, and are probably good for even advanced users.

This is a great starter kit
4/5

I dare you to beat it for the price! Here are some of the good points The flute has enough room in it to sharpen these tools again and again. There is no problem with the steel and it takes an edge well. * It holds its edge much better than Benjamin's Best tools* The handle shape is very nice and I like working with long handles better. This is the
This is a very basic grind and needs to be reground, as it would most likely fail if it wasn't. There are a number of negatives It has a horrible finish on its handles In this case, it was just some thick blackish paint that filled in the rough turning. In 15 minutes, I had a nice looking and comfortable set of handles after I sanded them with my random orbit sander and then sealed them with polyurethane/stain. The first thing I thought. . what do you expect for that price? I bought them a year ago and I'm not in the least unhappy with.
