In my case, I am a fairly new turner, but when I get interested in a hobby I tend to jump right in. I started with some "beginner" implements, but soon realized that they weren't worth the effort. It made a massive difference with the Sorby bowl gouge that I upgraded to. I've never found anything cut through green blanks with such smoothness, and dried stock with such It is very well balanced and of high quality overall, and mostly due to the HSS alloy, well held edges. The handle is nice and long, providing you with plenty of leverage, and it is very well balanced.

The seller shipped very fast and the tool is a Robert Sorby, so you know what that means. In comparison to Sorby tools, all other turning tools are considered to be superior. No matter how long this gouge lasts, I am sure it will outlast me. It makes great turns and feels great in the hand. The mass is great and the length is great as well.
