Questions & Answers

According to the details, the product is made in China. In addition, it says that it is made in the U.S. What happens to the ones made in China?

China appears to be the manufacturer of the set I have. Although it has a few flaws, it is still very good.

Is any of this going to fit an M14x1? What does 25 tap mean?

On the back of metric taps, you will normally find an American Standard shaft and drive square. found out that I do not own a 14 mm lens. I have a 12 mm. A 3/8" shank is used. A square is 9/32's of 375 and the circle is 9/16's of 375. I have purchased the entire set through 11 and it fits well in my #6, I've bought 281 and it fits perfectly in my #6. If there is a 14mm piece, I would guess it should fit in a #7 or 8, but the set you show is in a #9. The drivers on my two Japanese 12mm taps were smaller in these areas and of metric size. I will say this about the drivers when you need them, you will not be able to use anything else, but 98% of the time a regular Tap handle will work.

Does the driver have a 3/8" or a 1/2" shaft?

In the first four sizes (smaller ones), 1/4" drive is used, and the bigger four are composed of 3/8" drive.

Is this product made in China now?

For the past four years, I've had the same set. The product was designed and manufactured in the U.S. Newer sets may come from China, but recent ones may be from India. The main industry in Lisle made everything, but thanks to technology, that has changed. You will need to contact Lisle directly to get production details from the current COO (Country Of Origin).

Five solid stars should be given to these things. At work, we tend to use the larger sizes a lot. Maintenance of hydroelectric plants in heavy industry. In the last few months I have purchased a set for my home shop because they have proven to be durable As soon as I received them and used the smaller sockets #1-#6 My fourth observation was that the square portion that prevents the taps from spinning inside the sockets is shallowly machined. The tap is only captured for a fraction of an inch. In addition to this, I checked the sets at work, and some of them had the same issue. As we use these to fill small bottles at work rarely, this problem has gone unnoticed. It has not been noticed so far. So far I have not heard back from Lisle about the inquiry I sent. It is not really an issue to cut taps, but it can be difficult to withdraw those taps because they tend to slide or skip when under light My intention is to return these to Amazon for a replacement and hope to get a set of better quality.

The Winner of the Threadin Dinner has been announced

A couple of months ago, I purchased this Lisle 70500 set and its bigger brother In my work as a toolmaker, I am constantly chasing threaded holes and using square drive tools or easy outs. This makes them ideal for the These tap shanks are perfect for the shanks of taps as well. In addition, we use a number of easy outs that work well as well. They will be helpful to anyone who deals with square drive tooling. Additionally, the head holds the tap in place so that it does not fall I really like this.

A maddening event
3/5

It was too late to return them when I first needed them after buying Thus, a part of the problem is my fault for not seeing it In this case, I needed one of these, but the hole in the one I needed had some kind of distortion that prevented me from using my tap. Though it had the right hole, it had been damaged a bit. There was some sort of powder coating on it. I could not get it out, obviously, because it clogged the hole. I had to bang the tap in to clear it. It is a product that should not have left the assembly line, and it is mine to deal with. However, other than that, fairly nice. They do a fine job when they are working.

You can't go wrong with these

Snap is one of my own products It was the same set you were given to shoot, and I paid way too much to have it. Whenever you are in the market for a tap, you can get it on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. *If you have used taps before, you are aware of how hard it is to turn the tap and how to use a socket will result in a damaged A very useful tool to have since it squarely fits the square shank of the tap, is held in place by an "O" ring and is very helpful when it comes to hand tapping or threading. Adding this tool to any professional toolkit would be a great addition.

The best tool for any business! The thread tap is an excellent tool for easing the process of tapping new threads and cleaning out damaged/dirty It won't fit into tight spots, especially if the T handle is used
5/5

This set won out over an extended T handle for me. I was unsure whether to get these socket adapters or an extended T handle. These adapters put you in a position to use a 3/8" ratchet/extension combo in order to achieve the proper The start of a perpendicular thread is, as you might imagine, a little more challenging with a ratchet, but it isn't an issue as long as you take your time. The following procedure can be followed for cleaning out existing threads By hand, you can start and stop the tap and then reach for a swivel and drill/impact to run it in and out more easily. It's been a while since I used a power tool to start a new thread If I do that, I am a little worried about the tap breaking.

There is no doubt that the sockets themselves are of superior quality. As soon as the tap is snapped into the socket, it stays in place and will not fall out (looks like a small "O"). Hold it in place with the ring - These seem like they may be the future failure point at some point? I think it is a much easier way to accomplish the task of using power tools if you have access to standard ratchets and extensions. Excellent. I highly recommend it.

There is not all of it! I must have been misled by the picture since I thought I was getting the set

The socket is one for one! If you choose to get the entire set for $25 that's a better deal!.

You are getting the real deal here! The four tap and die sets I own are all of the same type
5/5

There are two large metric sets (one up to 1) and two large STD sets (all the way up to 1). I am 5 inches tall! One small set (standard size) and another smaller set (regular size). A modern Irwin Tools 21102-based tool is what I use The 1/4" to 1/2" handle ratcheting tap wrench is available in many different sizes. The following is an example I had too few taps and it was too small for all my taps since they come in a variety of They are by far the best tools you can use for taps, and they're at the top of the list (IMO)! In recent years, they have provided me with water pump repair and maintenance My 02 Acura block threads had been dirty from the previous repair, and I wanted to clean them up when I changed the oil. The 1/4" impact drill with extension adapter worked very well (very slowly and very carefully). In a matter of minutes, I managed to clean all 16 holes at the same time. As much as I understand, an impact drill is probably not the right tool to use when making new threads (which I was not doing), but I wanted to save time and these worked just great! I know a tap is not what you use to clean threads either, but I had this because my tap chasers were the wrong size but if there's a better and faster way, I'll The taps come in many different sizes and I love how I now have the ability to use mine in places where my T-handle was too big There was no way to turn the handle. The utility of these tap sockets will be immediately apparent to anyone who has ever used a tap. The tap comes with a circlip that keeps it in place, so they don't easily fall out, and the tap is made from forged steel and is tougher than Tequila. The way I am a motorhead, I am always playing with new tools for fabrication and doing things. These are perfect for me to use to use In addition, I also bought the large LI70940 set that is also very heavy duty! Now that I have more choices, I can choose which taps I want to use. As Jeff Spicoli said, "I feel like an uncle now!" I really have the ultimate set of tools at my disposal! Then, and only then, will I be able to pass them down to my son, who will probably be 85 when I can't work on them any more. Until I get them serviced, they're mine!

If you're a mechanic or DIYer and you want them - give me a call! When you purchase these, you will have finally found what you have been hoping was designed to solve your tapping issues. In fact, they've been on the market a long time, but I just decided recently that I I wish you the best of.
