This is a brilliant tool! This is a brilliant tool
5/5

I've been using them for years while doing sparky work, and they're fantastic for cleaning up threads that some clod has pooched, as well as clearing paint and dry wall mud from threads. My only gripe is that the reversible tap bit is now manufactured in China, whereas my previous four versions were not. Klein, be careful not to hire some marketing consultants who will be completely out of their element on the job. site) persuade you to "Expand the Brand" by manufacturing in China, because that will be the end of the line for many of us who have relied on your incredibly well-made tools for years. We do not purchase them because they are inexpensive; they are not. We purchase them because they are high-quality tools made in the United States that withstand daily use without fail.

It was once a very useful tool
3/5

This is the second time I've purchased one of these tools. Despite two issues, I continue to use the first one. The 6- The 32 section of the tap broke the first time I used it, but I was unconcerned because I only use the larger sizes, and a little grinding fixed the problem. The second is more inconvenient because the detent ball is stuck and does not hold the insert piece in place in the handle. I can get around it because this tool is only used occasionally. br>Because I needed some other items quickly and needed a minimum order to get faster shipping, I ordered a second tool. I reasoned that if I swapped the taps or inserts, I'd get one good working tool and one spare. That's not how it works. br>The first issue with the brand new tool was discovering that the new insert was shorter than the old one, preventing you from swapping them out. Okay, no problem; I'll simply switch the taps. wrong. I have a lot of allen wrenches, but the new grub screws don't fit any of them. I finally got a 2mm wrench into one of the grub screws, but it took a lot of force to get the over-sized grub screw out. a screw that had been tightened had come loose I was never able to get the second one to accept any size wrench, whether it was in English or metric. So you're out of luck if you want to replace the taps in the future. br>It's also worth noting that the allen recesses in the screws were clearly off center, indicating a lack of quality control. Overall, this was a poorly constructed tool, and Klein appears to be unconcerned about its quality. I'm relieved that they've moved production to China. br>It's back to Amazon for me.

For your drill, this tapper is far superior to other tappers
5/5

This tool not only meets, but goes above and beyond my expectations. I think I've only used three of the six thread sizes so far, but I'm glad for the variety of options because it means I'll never be stuck with an odd screw size, and it's one of the few tools I prefer in hand tool form. Similar tappers for use in a drill exist, but they're not much faster and break far too easily. When done by hand, it can be finessed gently, giving your tool a much longer life.

The most versatile "6 in 1" tap tool available
5/5

I have a few of these Klein "6 in 1" tap tools and they are the best! My oldest one has been in my tool pouch for over 30 years! Over the years, I've replaced the taps, but it's still running! I figured I'd retire my old faithful friend and get a new one for the next 30 years because the handle was so worn from decades of tapping holes in things. I considered getting the cushion grip version, but the handle is just a little too "fat" for where I keep it in my tool belt; otherwise, I'm sure it's just as "bulletproof" as the original. When it comes to quality, Klein is unrivaled.

Although it is a little pricey, the quality is excellent
4/5

It was purchased for work purposes. In electrical panels, I'm chasing down old threads. Having all of the most common taps in one tool is extremely convenient. I don't see 12 or 14 on a regular basis. I did come across 3 and 5 once, which was strange (they're not on the tool - no need). br>br>I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but it appears to be of the high quality that Klein is known for. It's probably deserving of a 5, but I have a few quibbles. The size labeling on the taps could be much better, and they could/should have put a 1/4" drive on the end of the handle so you could use a ratchet or T-handle to operate it. Once you've gotten it going, you'll be able to handle it on your own.

They're fine; I've been using them for a long time to re-charge my batteries
5/5

thread or "chase" rusted or messed-up threads, and if the threads can't be made usable, go one size up, and sometimes just make threads out of lightweight metal. One major caveat: these are made of extremely hardened tool steel, as they must be in order to chase or create new threads. But that also makes them VERY BRITTLE; do not attempt to bend one of these in any way; they break easily and do not bend at all. However, it is extremely practical. Treat them with the utmost deference.

Klein 626 6-piece set There is one tapping tool
5/5

This Klein triple-package has been in my possession for a while now. For years, I've used a tap tool, but I decided to give the newer design with the nice cushion grip a try. I like it a lot, and the extra shaft length prevents the end of the handle from making contact with the side of metal electrical device boxes when tapping or chasing threads in the back of the box for grounding screws and cable clamps. Replaceable taps and a reversible dual-flush system are still included. I'm happy with it overall, and I'd buy it again if I needed something with the six most common thread sizes I work with on a regular basis.

It's functional, and there's a good selection to choose from
4/5

It's convenient to have a single handle with several common taps. Overall, this is an excellent product with only two minor flaws. To protect the exposed taps during storage, they require a sheath or cover. It's also a little difficult to keep it as straight as it should be for good threads because of the angle you hold it at when tapping. It does, however, work once you've gotten used to it.
