Questions & Answers

They can strip Romex, can't they?

It is not possible to strip the outer jacket from Romex by using this tool (Knipex 13 72 8). I have it on order, but I don't see anything that indicates it can do so. If you need that functionality, you will need to use another My personal preference is to use a tool that allows stripping the outer jacket as needed, so I do not mind that. Although I haven't dealt with it directly, from what I have seen and read, it appears to be an excellent, forged tool with many useful

There's something wrong with strippers for me
3/5

I'm fine with that. What's there to worry about? It's only wire strippers, No, you're wrong! As a symbol of my individuality and belief in personal freedom, it's important to me. (If you recognized that quote, you get bonus points). Despite my love for the Knipex water pump and plier wrenches, their wire cutters are lacking- bottom line (see below for more info). As a result, I took on this quest to find the ultimate wire stripper, but found it to be much more convoluted than it first appeared. So here is what I discovered, and hopefully I can save you some cash and some frustration. I would really like to have one tool that does all of these tasks for me in an ideal world This crimper is insulated and 10-inch long The stripper can strip solid and stranded cable up to 20 awg, but a cutter can can cut up to 8- gauge Bolt cutter for 32 mm bolts. boxes, however, aren't exactly perfect, which makes me consider dual tool actions. In any case, given that everyone's preference will differ, I will save you some time and describe for you those that I considered. However, I should note that in my opinion, wire strippers are not that well made by the same companies that generally make excellent other tools. While I generally love Klein products, I have realized their product line lacking common sense (like a locking feature on the K12035, or a spring on the K12065CR crimper version, whilst In terms of quality, Knipex is a notable lemon in their product line as well. But other brands that are not synonymous with electrical tools have done quite well in some respects.

Among the noteworthy contenders I've owned or used are the following , Klipex It took me a while to warm up to these. I was kind of expecting to love them right away. I am sure they are machined nicely and very The joints and pivots have a sort of clicky mechanism that clicks each time you use them, and overall they seem a bit janky. In addition, I find that it's not a great way to work- Doesn't feel very ergonomic or intuitive to me. Doesn't give me the same joy as their Cobra and plier wrenches. Sacrilegious, I know, but I've gotta tell you the truth. The results In the City of Carlyle/Napa This contender has some nice features, but it should be approached in a multi-tool fashion. Has a snap-on stripper / crimper made in USA but again, only for stranded wire. The wine can also be bought from Napa for a reasonable price. An alternative to the Klein 2005N at a lower cost. For around $20, you can find these on sale. As well as an angled and straight general stripper that comes with these in a three piece set, which is a good deal and excellent Ideally, these would be the ones I would choose if you work with electronics primarily and are not looking for home or industrial electrical work. The Klein family This is the 1010th day of the year I always go back to the same old standby. This program pretty much takes care of everything Although it's not in the same league as others with regard to quality, it rusts fairly easily as well. Klain 1019 the "Kurve" -- Would probably be a better fit for you than the 1010. - Klein 2005N The topic of Klein has now been discussed. However, it only works for This is a simple but effective device. I consider this to be the best Carlyle / Snap On type of stranded wire. It would be best to pair this with another, such as the K120035 for solid. It can be paired with the Klein crimping tool (rebranded as Titan elsewhere) so that you have everything you need. Please find attached K12035 A Kurve Wire Cutter is a tools that cuts wire into curves The quality is identical to that of the Klein above, but the application is different. This tool has the same basic features as the Knipex, and I consider it a better choice.

The 12035CR has a crimper, but you sacrifice the lower spring for leverage. To be honest, I would prefer the one with the spring and get the Klein crimper separately. The one I got did not lock shut, so I would make sure to get one that does. Unlike the standard 12035, the standard 12035 does not have a locking lever and has a spring instead. Personally, I am irritated to no end by this. Milwaukee - The port is the center of commerce in Wisconsin There are 9 inches in this. The following combination wire strippers pliers are included As far as I'm concerned, I actually prefer this tool to the Knipex, as well as most of the others. It is also more affordable than most other options. If that matters to you, however, you are dealing with a tool imported from abroad. While it does not have the same sharp dimensions or look as fancy or fashionable, it delivers on its promise. You'll be good to go with this and a Titan crimper if you're picky. This is the one you should get if you can only have I like the design a lot because it's well thought out and covers everything. I believe it is made in China, however. You should follow the Klein or Carlyle recommendation above if you plan on staying in the U. S. or not. In addition, this 9 out of 7 is In contrast to the cheaper Milwaukee stripper which looks fairly similar, Model 1 is significantly different. Countdown to the 7-year anniversary The price of one is about $30 while the price of the other is about $10 less. Ensure that the model you purchase is what you need. I think Gardner Bender is brilliant It is similar to a Klein 1010, but it is stainless steel with an integrated voltage tester. The stainless steel is a bonus and the markings are in the metal itself instead of being painted or etched by laser - Which I find to be a major complaint Convenient as all get out There are many options to choose from. There is no German tool steel in it, and it is on the flimsy side (A- As with the thin metal blue handled Klein 1010), but does the job tremendously well. As an added bonus, a non-profit organization A new feature of the voltage tester is that the voltage can be checked via contact. This really is one of the most versatile tools out there. The Milwaukee School of Business has a similar no-nonsense philosophy A few Milwaukee build quality features give way to a couple of additional features and a very convenient voltage tester. As a home diyer, you can't go wrong with either of those as long as you want to make an impact with minimal space. One complaint I have about these is that I do not like the handles, and while I have not experienced any issues with the voltage checker myself, I have heard of others having similar issues. It pretty much sums up what we are talking about. There are not many that will match this, unless there are a few that will There's some fancy wire stitchers made in Sweden that I've never Almost all of it has been used and seen by me. It is not my preference to use an automatic stripper because I find them finicky, but they are a useful tool, along with other tools I need to complete an average electrical job. As soon as you get all your stuff together, you'll have a tool bag full For the electrician, I would recommend a multi-tool that fits in your pocket or belt. I won't say which is the best as there is none, but the Milwaukee is most versatile. However, if you are a professional, you may want to explore dedicated tools for each task. It's my hope that this

As far as I can see.

This amazing product is made in Germany, with great quality and craftsmanship
5/5

A small reason why these are so hard to come by is that they're very hard to sell. Even at a much higher price, these are still a great deal. I found one on Amazon for $48 but here are some more at a much higher price. It's a Klein - I have one This product is made in the USA and is manufactured in Milwaukee There are a variety of wire strippers made in China, but Knipex's is the best. Among other things, Klins didn't have a good finish, no lock, and they started rusting immediately because of Houston's humid weather. Even Milwaukee beaters are of a lower quality but are good for beatings. Oil and grease are kept on all three. Cleaning plastic handles with Ballistal oil is an effective and efficient cleaning method. The tools I use are taken care of by me. In the past few years, I have gradually changed over to German or Japanese tools, and Knipex makes the best pliers, crimpers, and wire strippers there are. This is also a German Made product of superior quality and craftsmanship.

There are no measures that can compare with Knipex
5/5

Klein, Milwaukee, or any other are not comparable. This is the best multipurpose pair of pliers you can buy. In case you do not have wire stripping, needle noses, pipe reamers, 8-inch shank shank and 8-inch cross shaft shank I am 32/6. With their Brutal design, these 32 screw-cutting pliers are worth every penny, Perfect for cutting screws like butter, Stripping is a breeze, Durability, and worth every penny.

It is impossible to replace a stripper or finish work with anything other than these
5/5

Review writing is not something I often do. It is always on my mind, but someone else usually says what I planned to say, or I become busy and don't remember. However, these are also worthy of mention. There are pliers for linesmen in my toolbox. There is a Klein and a Nipex. Regardless of who you choose, you will get great linemen. My problem is that I'm still unsure what they are I don't strip the wire, but they twist it well. Cables of some sizes can be cut, but larger multi-conductor cables are more difficult to cut. Ten minutes after the 10-minute mark It takes a lot of effort to cut and install cable Light hammering (yeah, they're good for that) and cutting smaller cables is what they're good for. That's the only thing I got to say. The development of hybrid pliers in the last 5 years is for good reason. Strip's sheath is made of Romex, and strips 14 and 12 are made by South Wire. They cut better than any linesman's plier. Klein has an excellent line of hybrids, and the grey and black linesman hybrid is particularly interesting. There are also a few 18-year-olds on the list This hybrid has ten different varieties. In addition to Milwaukee and Ideal, there are new products from both. We're no longer in the 1940s, and the original linesman doesn't solve all the problems these new programs br />br />11- What is it about these hybrids that I like? I think you have done a good job with your Age 18 to I have a 10 and I am Linesmen cannot cut romex and feeder conductors as easily as he does. This slim and light design makes you feel good in your skin. It has a wide nose that allows it to twist. However, it is difficult to get into difficult locations. Adding a device loop is a breeze thanks to the groove midway through the knurled twisting face. If you keep the edges closed after stripping, you'll be able to insert the conductor in that groove and the loops will fit perfectly on 14 and 12 gauges. As a result of one continuous guide that extends between the 14 and 12 gauge stripper holes, the muscle memory is lightning quick.

The slim design makes setting and getting your stripped length fast and seamless. In addition, the spring assist is not in the way, visible, or in the way It is possible. Upon installation, the thumb lock works beautifully.

There is, however, one real hidden surprise the 6-way tumbler lock. I have entered 32 and 8 as the following The screw cutter can handle 32 mm screws. Threading the screws in and out is not necessary. Getting your flat or Philips or impact out and threading it all the way in and back out is no longer necessary. All you have to do is stick it through, cut it, and you're The device is so much quicker and easier to use now. Though I don't know how it works without the need for cleaning and rethreading by the old process of manually unscrewing, I find that it works seamlessly.
Imagine how quick plating blanks would be in seconds, Among the drawbacks It would not be appropriate to use as a light hammer for notching wood with a flat head or to knockout enclosures. It is too light and fits too tightly. The use of that form is dependent on that use. There is a few inches of cutting space between the tool's start and the shear/cutting area. Open them wider and direct the tool to the surface, or guide the cable to the The number of linesman was greater than the number of dykes. My choice would be the Klein hybrid linesman if I was roughing. When it comes to finishing, these are unbeatable.

KNIPEX has provided us with yet another great Since I had been using IDEAL brand strippers for years, switching to these was a bit of a concern
5/5

Nevertheless, even though I found this tool to be relatively easy and comfortable to use, I was surprised at how well it performed when it came to cutting SO cord, cutting multiple 10 AWG thick wires at once, stripping, removing KOs,.

Kleins is a far better product! What a fantastic set of photos
5/5

In the past, I bought a pair of kleins strippers very similar to these, returned them immediately, and bought another pair later. Regardless of what I have tried, these cut better than any strippers that I have ever used, and the threadless screw cutters are incredible.
