How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

Time is saved and the number of tools used is reduced with a multi-purpose tool.
Strips of solid wire (10-14 AWG) and stranded wire (12-16 AWG).
34 percent more cutting power thanks to a high-leverage design
Wires are easily grasped and twisted with the help of the wide knurled head.
Shearing bolts with 6-32 and 8-32 threads
Connectors, lugs, and terminals that are not insulated are crimped.
Knives for cutting hard wire that are full length and induction hardened
Design with a lot of clout. Rivet is 34 percent closer to the cutting edge than other pliers designs, giving it more cutting and gripping power.

Questions & Answers

Do these pliers have the ability to cut 12/2 or 12/4 metal clad cable?

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

What is the approximate weight of each of them?

7 oz. Working with them is a pleasure. Cuts through multiple 12's and can twist five 12's together to form a joint that works well.

What is the size of the Klein Koat replacement grip for the J2158cr hybrid?

Although it is written on them that they are not insulated and will not protect against electric shock, the plastic hand grips appear to be molded onto the pliers. They are 120mm long and appear to be made of a non-conductive material. I tested them to 1000v and they passed the insulation test with flying colors, so I'm satisfied with their low-voltage insulating properties, but working on live conductors is not recommended as a safe practice.

Is it possible to use this instead of strippers? I'm on the lookout for a better set of strippers, but I'm having trouble finding anything suitable. ?

I've never bought a stripper that was as good as this one. Before you marrette, they also allow you to twist a wire. In any case, I use it exclusively and wire two houses per week.

But it's a good hybrid
4/5

These are absolutely incredible. The inability to make loops is a minor stumbling block. Mine was a little stiff when I got it, but a little Liquid Wrench and some WD 40 fixed it. I blew them up by accident, and I'll definitely be ordering more. It's convenient to be able to use a single tool rather than lineman's and strippers. br>br>After a month and a half, here is an update: br>br>The jaws are too small to twist more than three 12 AWG wires at once without exerting too much effort or causing wrist discomfort; these pliers' jaws are much smaller than standard lineman's jaws. br>br>Because they're smaller than standard lineman's pliers, you won't have enough leverage to cut through 12/3 wires without using elbow grease, nor will you be able to grip more than three 12 AWG wires without difficulty. br>br>The wire stripper portion of the pliers is dulling, and I believe it is due to friction from wire tips while twisting and cutting. To Klein Tools: br>br> Having the cutters closer to the rivet is logical, and it should remain that way. However, the jaws should be at least as long and thick as a standard lineman's so that the wire does not get in the way of the strippers. To increase leverage and reduce hand fatigue, the handles should be as long as that of a standard lineman. br>I'm assuming the pliers' small profile is intended to add to the convenience and minimalism of using a hybrid tool, but since these are replacing lineman's and strippers, I don't think anyone would object if they were larger.

The layout is excellent
5/5

I've been an electrician for 31 years, and for most jobs, I only have the hybrid pliers and a multi screwdriver in my pocket. I really like this - You won't have to break them in like you would a pair of lineman's pliers.

If only the loops had been made earlier
4/5

This tool would be the ultimate electrician's hand tool if it could loop 12 gauge solid wire. To make loops, I still have to use my old strippers. br>Klein J206- I wish I had purchased this tool instead,br> 8C

They're a little too small
4/5

Work is excellent, and as is typical of Klein, the quality is excellent. The only thing I didn't like about it was the description, which stated that it had a rating of 10. Because the lineman pliers are 9", I assumed it would be the same size. They're Fisher price sized, as it turns out.

They are small, and their leverage is inferior to that of larger linesman pliers
3/5

As an electrician, I rely heavily on Klein Tools. br>For about a MONTH, it worked perfectly. Suddenly, I inserted an 832 screw into the cutter, which cut and damaged my Pliers. I tried WD40 and other things, but I believe the issue with the Leverage caused the Pliers to be ruined because they were slightly bent. I'd like to replace them with a new pair because the rest of my tools are in excellent condition. Klein has surprised me because I buy their line to avoid having to deal with cheaply made tools and the frustration they cause. They are, however, ideal for service calls and small jobs requiring only a meter, flathead, linesman, and impact gun/drill. I hope this information is useful.

It takes a bit of effort to open, and it doesn't open automatically
3/5

Klein's name gets a one-star rating. After three weeks of lubricating and closing pliers every day, the darn things still need to be pushed open with fingers, causing hand fatigue. Using a 9-inch klein, strippers, and needle nose is more efficient. Crimper does not impress me. It was a good idea, but it didn't pan out. It won't even work as a hammer. Maybe they'll be stolen and I won't have to use them anymore. Did I mention that it's a bit on the pricey side?.

For field technicians, this is a must-have item
5/5

I wish I had known about these when I was working as a full-time cable technician (if they were available at the time), because I wouldn't have needed a separate pair of heavy Klein lineman's (9's), wire strippers, and crimpers. Ironically, I purchased these after losing the lineman 9's, having previously lost the Klein strippers, and being tired of carrying everything. This tool is ideal for use on the ground block/side of the house, as well as at the tap/pole. The fact that it strips standard 14, 12, and 10 gauge wire and cuts standard 8-gauge wire 32 and 6- It has 32 screws, side cutters, pliers, and crimpers, and it's made in the United States, so it's a great tool to have.

It accomplishes the purpose for which it was created
5/5

I'm not sure if the people complaining about the sharpness are trying to cut 10/4 in one shot or what, but I've had the heavy duty ones, these without the crimper, and now these, and these have a better grip for twisting wire and, in my opinion, cut wire better and in one shot than the heavy duty ones, maybe the strippers aren't as sharp, but the side cutters are, and the strippers are as sharp as you really need them to be, if.
