It takes a lot of coordination to splice a lot of fibers, but I am a novice fiber splicer. The fiber industry is a diverse one, and we've probably encountered every kind of producer. Whenever I need this tool, I borrow it from production splicers who never seem to have the correct mid sheath tool which can cost up to 1000 dollars. It must be at least $100. It seems to be the hardest thing about this tool to get it back to me before the production splicers I've only had one problem, sometimes the latch pops open when I hold it. I'm sure this is because of how I hold The good news is that it definitely comes in handy and should be included in every splicer's kit since the price is so affordable. Make sure that the tube fits snugly in the tool, but slides easily. Also, apply pressure while holding it closed, and never let go of the latch.
In my position working for a major communications company, I open mid span cables of every size known to man, with plenty of "working" fibers, and I have encountered smaller tubes that were difficult and precarious to open with larger slitters, especially older gel-insulated tubes Degradation of tubes in filled cables. It has only been used three times for these purposes, and there has not been a single problem. I no longer have to worry about situations I had previously been stressed about. My recommendation for this product is very high.
We're not talking about one of those. Since the blades are not adjustable, it will only work if the OSP fiber cable sheathing is exactly the right thickness for the blades. Otherwise, the blades will slice right through the sheathing In case you work with multiple brands of OSP fiber cable, this might not be the right tool for you.
This is a much better test than the Miller- My old Miller mSAT was broken, so I bought this to replace it This is in stark contrast to the other 3 programs, which never worked right for me and took countless hours to get to work The time it took me to use it was 4 months. My usage of the Miller has probably been reduced by one hour a day since I acquired this tool. To my knowledge, it has not cut into the fiber yet and does an excellent job of midspanning. In the future, I will order one for each of our employees.
It is so easy and worry free to split your tubes.
My impression was that the quality was good, and the price was reasonable The system has so far been able to handle the volume of his use.
Easily spits out the buffer tube without binding. The fibers are easy to work with and I have not had a single broken fiber so far.
It has been an 11 year job as a splicer. In this tool, channels are split better than with the corning entry tool at a tenth of the price and with a wider range of sizes. Only downside is that it is plastic rather than metal, but I do not see this as an issue by any means.
