Questions & Answers

Is it possible to adjust the blade height? The tool would not strip a 12 gauge wire. What am I doing wrong?

It is equipped with wires of 24 AWG. I'd like to know if there is a micro-adjustment that could be adjusted so the grab side doesn't dig into the wire. My first pair wouldn't strip anything regardless of gauge, and the new ones still strip Due to the micro adjustment, it causes more damage to the insulation when it does strip, which exposes the wire in front of the strip point. It will take a week for them to test the various wires in the field, and I'm hoping to have some video and photo samples by that time. There is a chance I can figure out how to use them without these problems, if not, they will be returned as well.

What if the speaker wire is connected this way?

If you have Cat 5e or Cat6 UTP cable, it works well stripping a jacket, but make sure to watch for nicks on the UTP cable and peel it

What types of wires will this effectively strip, such as jumper wires on breadboards?

Without a doubt The jumper wires I use most often are for breadboards.

The best strippers in town
5/5

It is one of the best wire strippers you can ever find. It is evident that these strippers are not on the B team, they are definitely on the A team. Classy strippers are on the agenda. This is done with ease by ripping the outer layer off.

Make your tool better by buying one
3/5

This is a product I ordered after watching some YouTube videos and reading the Amazon reviews. It would have been better if I had gone to the IRWIN tools website and read the testimonials. I had to try ten pairs of wires of varying sizes within the first ten wires. This gauge range goes from 24 to 36 gauges. In the following weeks, I brought the appliance to the job site to repair some electrical parts and run some longer cables, and it never stripped. As a result of using this tool, all the wires are jumbled up and half cut The metal was totally ruined and unusable, and it had to be cut up. I would have loved to have a tool like this at my fingertips, since it would have made my work a lot easier, but I cannot believe it. It is recommended to spend more on a nice set of Klein automatic strippers ($30+) or Ideal custom strips. There are probably other companies that make the same type of product This one is a flop for you, IRWIN.

Wire strippers of the highest quality I have ever used
5/5

Please note that Watching a video of these wire strippers in action, I decided I needed to take a look at this model over any other. Despite their simplicity, they do the job quickly and efficiently. It works just as well for thinner gauges, although I have been using it with 16 gauge wire primarily. Below is a video showing how much insulation to strip from thinner wire when using the wire stop. You can see in the photo that the wire stop accurately measures how much insulation to strip. I've found these wire strippers to be superior to all others. There is no size that When you are stripping wire, there's no need to know what gauge it is. With these wire strippers, the wire of most standard sizes will be stripped perfectly. This is a fantastic crew of strippers, I cannot recommend them We appreciate your time and hope you will click on the helpful button below if you thought this review was helpful. I appreciate it!.

It has been a great privilege to be around her throughout her life, and she does so much for others
5/5

My review of Tiffany should begin with a few words. It has been a great privilege to be around her throughout her life, and she does so much for others. The only stripper I had in my back of tricks was not a quality stripper. Most of the time, she does it just how you want. But like most strippers, if you don't clean her up after, or if you use her in a hurry, she may act sloppy or make mistakes. Therefore, the tip I would like to offer is to make sure they have a clean mouth and that any leftover nubs from their previous job have been removed. While Tiffany, who is a cutter, can handle the lighter jobs rather well, I call on a pair of dikes, Pat, for the heavy ones. As far as crimping is concerned, I don't use Tiff since I have others already for that but if necessary, she can handle the task. Overall, Tiffany is your best bet if you've got lots of wires and need someone to help you strip them.

In larger wires, the device appears to work well, but there are some issues
4/5

My goal was to figure out how the unit works by disassembling it. A screw on the lower grip plate on the left allows it to be adjusted. In my experience, this screw doesn't provide any resistance until screwer has been twisted at least 1 1/2 times. In the meantime I found a spring and a hardened pin in the center of the assembly. In the highest position, screwed all the way in, it does not provide enough pressure to strip thin stranded wire. I fixed this by using a small 2/56 screw with a phillips head and cutting the thread length to about The threaded portion of the spring fits into the bore first, with the hardened bullet sitting in the hole in the backplate bullet head first. Once it has been assembled and reassembled, if you adjust the screw completely, you should not be able to compress it. A fully compressed spring means that all the tension has been released. On the plate, I would also recommend dabbing a small amount of lithium grease. In the case of thinner wires, the increased pressure from leaving them on the stripper will reduce wear. With the new tool, I am now able to strip very thin wires while still using the tool for 12 gauge house wire.

Wires that work for some may not work I am an apprentice electrician and I always strive to reduce the amount of time I spend doing my job and to reduce the risk of injury
3/5

Almost all electricians will warn you that carpal tunnel is something to watch out for due to the repetitive activities you perform while stripping, twisting, and pulling wire. ** About the tool Upon receiving it, I put it to the test in the field while working on a renovation at the hospital where we work with special wire, and all sizes, from 22 to 00. Since this tool is rated only for # 10, I put it to the test right away. The stripping gauge and some of its other features do not seem to be very useful, so after testing it for a few times, I decided just to forego A few pro's I found stripping small wires fast and easy, even shielded wires up to 18 gauge could usually be stripped It was very frustrating dealing with regular strippers 2, which I found very annoying. The problem was stripping #12 and #10, it was a bit The cons are The first wire I tried was with a clear coat, but the tool did not perform well, as it was almost as if it wanted to strip the jacket first but Having the wire stripped in this way is extremely irritating. I will return to my regular wire stripper. Consequently, if you plan on making "pig tails" with the tool, it will be useless to you. The device also dislikes small sections of wire. This wire stripper doesn't have a hole in it for making a wire loop, or for cutting bolts, like other wire strippers, so you need to go back to your normal wire strippers to perform these functions. As far as I'm concerned, this tool's target audience is the low voltage or data electricians and not the residential or commercial electrician. While the pouch feels solid and well made, the wire stripper does not work on all wires, and it is recommended that you keep your regular wire stripping tools in your pouch during the installation process.
