This is what I bought to remove the bolts from the bed of my 2001 F-150 I was pleased with the fit of the bit on the oddball Torx "Plus" bolts Ford uses. During an inspection, I found that my bolts were rusted to the nuts under the chassis, and the Torx fittings in the bolt heads were all stripped. In any case, this is NOT the fault of the Most likely, that's due to the impact wrench I used. In spite of the bolts getting totally destroyed, the bit came through with flying colors. There was an apparent difference between the bit's hardness and the bolt heads'. It's a bit I would definitely buy again if I needed it for any project other than removing rusty bolts from an F150 bed. I would simply move straight to the step of grinding off the bolt heads to remove the bed in that particular case.
I think it would be a good idea to shoot whoever invented Torxplus. In this case, the fastener was worse and more difficult to find. As far as that's concerned I think these sockets are pretty decent quality. It appears that the socket is still holding its shape after rounded off a good dozen bolt heads.
I needed exactly what you told me. However, I just thought that it would be good to point out the case is red and not grey, as in the picture. The quality of the items is great, and they should last for years. The Snap-On ones I have don't get used very often (maybe once or twice a year), so I did not want to buy them. In Snap On and other brands, the shaft is only available in hex, so I would have had to grind it For this price I can have a whole set of sizes that I really only needed one of. For the project I use them for, a round shank is required (not a hex) as well as non-ferrous screws As a result, these are tamper-proof and.
Compared to some of the other reviewers, the tool was more challenging. Having soaked my bed bolts for hours, they became seized even after I had soaked them overnight. I had to grind off heads, but with a ton of torque on the bit prior to doing so, it is still usable, so I have no complaints about quality.
On the fifth attempt, the shank snapped. ****Were you to grind the bolt heads off, that would be easy. There's a good chance you'll be disappointed by this bit.
The bolts on my truck's bed (I've had it 6 years) broke the first time I used them-and it wasn't an old, rusty bolt. You get what you pay for, so to speak.
However, I eventually broke both of the tools I purchased, for they took a hell of a beating from my 1/2" Any high end brand would have done better, in my opinion.
I snapped one and twisted the other, but jokes aside. Their replacements were better. As far as the price is concerned, they're.
