Neither 1/2'' or 1/4'' adapters are necessary for me. It holds the sockets well and works well with the 3/8''. It is easy to rotate the 1/4'' but the ball detents do not hold the sockets very well and are too easily removed. The impact drivers that I have work well with these and swivel well while removing nuts, but become stuck inside while installing nuts a tap on them opens them up again.
