To be fair, I was using a breaker bar with a bolt extractor, which should have had a 1/2" drive (17mm), but the adapter sheared off in the bolt extractor. For the most part, I'd say it's fine, but for heavy-duty tasks, I'd recommend Cr Mo (rather than Cr V). It sheared in a matter of seconds. It appears to be of 'okay' quality. Fortunately, I had another (old Craftsman) adapter on hand that did the trick.
For those times when you're at home alone, These will serve the purpose for a gamer, but you get what you pay for. The "quick release" aspect consists of a single hole drilled into each of them, so that you must align the ball of your socket with the hole in the adapter for it to engage. They're black because they have a layer of black paint on them that will quickly abrade off and affect the fit of the socket drive, and the "quick release" aspect consists of a single hole drilled onto each of them, so that you must align the ball of your socket with the hole in the adapter for br>br>Most inconveniently, the one I need the most came with the spring-loaded mechanism. The loaded ball is stuck down so that it won't engage with a socket in the first place.
The 1/4-inch drive adapter failed the first time it was used, resulting in the removal of an engine air filter screw. I'm worried about the "impact" strength it claims to have, so I'll have to figure out how to get my money back or exchange it.
They shouldn't be so tight that you can't take them off, but they should be secure enough that they won't fall off while you're wearing them. They were required so that I could use a smaller socket on a larger wrench to increase leverage. They were also used to attach a larger socket to a smaller wrench for difficult-to-reach areas. I can mix and match these to make the ideal size tool for the job.
I don't like how the 1/2" f to 3/8" m adapter broke the first time I used it to loosen a lug nut on my Jeep with a breaker bar. So, what do you call that level of quality?.
They appear to be of good quality, arrived quickly, and were reasonably priced. I haven't used it yet, but I intend to do so this weekend when I replace the motor mounts on my 2002 neon. I'll let you know if they break or if they pass the test; I'm hoping the 1/2 to 3/8 adapter can handle 100 ft/lbs of torque when removing bolts. br>br>update: br>br>update: br>br>update: These are made of cheap metal, and the 3/8 to 1/4 broke the first time I used it with very little force. The 1/4 is always the first to go, but the other three have been fine so far; I've only used them a few times.
br>br>There isn't much else to say except that the manufacturing quality of the bits is outstanding and the price is more than reasonable. The glossy black finish is also a favorite of mine. It distinguishes them from other tools in a toolbox drawer and makes them very easy to locate. I have a large 1/2 drive torque wrench, a smaller 3/8 inch torque wrench, and a variety of socket wrenches and bits of various sizes. This set makes it very simple for me to switch between sockets as needed, depending on what I'm working on.
I had no choice but to purchase this set because I couldn't find a better deal; this set includes ALL of the options, whereas I only required one reducer. This was, however, a better deal than purchasing each piece separately.
