Questions & Answers

What's the difference between this (dewalt dwmt81535 247 piece mechanics tool set) and the (dewalt dwmt75049 mechanics tools set (192 piece))?

If you want more sockets and extensions, the 192-piece set is the way to go. If you remove all the small screwdriver bits, the 247 piece isn't really 247. The 247-piece set's only advantage is the wrenches, which the 192-piece set lacks, but the 192-piece set does have more sockets and extensions. If you're looking for a one-stop shop for everything, look no further. The 247 piece is useful as an all-around kit because it includes a screwdriver set as well as wrenches. However, the 192 is the better kit if you only need sockets and ratchets.

Is it possible to use a power tool with this?

Despite the manufacturer's statement below, they contradict it in another question, and these are not impact-rated tools, as noted in the correct response. Many people will say they've tried them or that "they work fine." It only takes one piece of the finish or the socket itself to come apart and pierce the skin or eye...it happens, so don't take the risk.

Is it possible to use these with an air wrench?

No, these aren't mechanics tools with an impact rating.

Will the tool set I buy on Amazon be covered by Dewalt's lifetime warranty? I'd like to double-check. ?

Yes, the tools are covered by our manufacturer's warranty.

It's adequate, but not outstanding
3/5

I was in desperate need of a good tool set. I chose this one after doing a lot of research. br>I'd narrowed it down to this kit and the Craftsmans 220 piece set. br>At the time, they were only about ten dollars apart. The 72 tooth ratchets and all 6 pt sockets were what sold me on Dewalt's case. The Craftsman's kit includes 45-tooth ratchets as well as 12 and 6-point sockets. br>I've always preferred 6pt sockets because finer teeth result in less swing in tight spaces. br>This is important at times. br>The Dewalt fat handle design is also appealing to me. It's simple to find thin tapered handles or bi-fold handles. material, but heavy, thick handles are difficult to come by. br>The Craftsman kit includes quick-release ratchets, but I'm not a fan. br>As for the case, it's fine; in fact, it's quite sturdy. I'm not sure who would describe this as flimsy. br>When you open it, the letters will be facing up. As is customary. br>It's a wash for me because both brands are now manufactured overseas and come with lifetime warranties. br>My only gripe is that my 1/4-inch ratchet has a very "crisp" feel to it. It looked like it had some grit in its teeth or wasn't properly oiled when it left the factory. br>After a blast of WD40, it loosened up but now works better. br>I would classify this as a high-end consumer set(not). br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The 1/4-inch drive reverted to its previous state. In it, there is a "square" spot. This irritates me greatly. What irritates me the most is the lack of a proper hex for opening and inspecting the ratchets! Not in my set, at least. That alone is enough to deduct a star. Finally, the 1/2-inch drive is set to a 72-tooth ratio rather than a 60-tooth ratio. I finally got 36 clicks by counting them slowly over and over. Reading the sales description again, it appears that ALL of the ratchets are 72. br>It's still a decent set, but not quite as good as I had hoped. br>br>Update number two: br>This is the last thing I'll say about it. These ratchets finally got the best of me after I changed the water pump. br>After some digging and scrounging, I came across an old junky gas station pocket multi-tool. driver with the right size bit for inspecting these ratchets br>The first point to consider is this: There is no lubrication at all. None. Nada. There isn't even a speck of light. Nothing. Dry. I usually use a fishing-reel grease, but I couldn't find mine, so I used a dollop of STP in each ratchet. br>My test, which enraged my father, consists of holding an extension and spinning it like a party favor noisemaker. br>If the grease and motion aren't smoothed out, they're a waste of time. br>Finally, the following are the outcomes: br>Smoothed out 1/4 drive It doesn't feel like it's catching and grabbing every 30 or 40 clicks. br>Knock on wood, everything appears to be in good working order. br>br>3/8 drive: It was always smooth, though it did reverse direction on me when I was doing the water pump every now and then. It barely makes a sound now, and it's as smooth as butter (I accidentally over greased it). br>br>1/2 drive: Whatever the case may be, presto! It has now been clicked 72 times! I'm not sure what happened to the rocker inside. br>While loosening some water pump bolts didn't help, the STP did. Everything appears to be in working order at this time. I'm starting to miss the solid 36click sounds! The 72 clicks, on the other hand, seem to be weaker. The only way to find out is to wait. I guess I'd grown accustomed to the more obnoxious clicks. br>br>I haven't changed my mind about this set. When I buy a set of tools, the first mechanic action I should take is NOT to repair the tools. That is completely absurd. Those attempting to open and grease these should be cautious not to lose the small spring. That's something I can see happening very easily. Use a magnetic tray to keep track of your progress. Because the parts are so small inside, the 1/4 drive can be tricky, but it can be completed in a matter of minutes. Don't just yank it apart; instead, use one hand to hold the selector in place from behind and slowly raise the mechanism.

Awesome
5/5

Today I was able to get home early from work. I'm sitting on the porch, sipping a cold beer. My new tools are delivered by UPS. They have a fantastic appearance and feel to them. It was a slow crank when I got in my truck to go to the store. I installed a brand new Dewalt set in my truck before heading to the nearest auto parts store. They examined the battery and determined that it needed to be replaced. I bought a new battery and replaced it with my brand new Dewalt Mechanics, which took about 3 minutes to set up. This is a fantastic collection. In the very sturdy case, everything had its place. Awsome.

DEWALT 247PC SET> A long-lasting DeWalt set (impact-resistant)
5/5

First and foremost, thank you to DeWalt/Amazon for removing the impact drivers and power drills from this grouping on Amazon, which makes things a lot clearer. However, all of the reviews that mention the drills are now worthless, so the ratings are still valid. Oh well. This DeWalt tool set appears to be well-made, with high-quality components, in contrast to the Allen Wrench socket set I previously owned, whose case had fallen apart and was only held together with duct tape. CONS: br>br>
- The toolset is quite heavy, but as a general rule, quality and weight go hand in hand. As a result, this isn't a significant issue.
- The largest sockets do not come with an attachment adapter for a drill or impact driver, but the smaller two sizes do.
- Although they are not impact-resistant, I believe they will be sufficient for a battery-powered device. (I use a Greenworks 24V impact driver; I'll provide a link to my Amazon review of this product. ) PROS: )br>br>
- It has a very good, solid, and well-built foundation. The case is made of a premium composite plastic material that looks and feels durable, which should last a lot longer than our Allen Wrench socket set, which had a case that fell apart.
- The hinges and latches are of good quality and should last for a long time. br>- Nothing appears to be poorly engineered, and all of the tools are made professionally.
- The sockets, wrenches, and ratchets are all solidly constructed. br>- A benefit is the lifetime warranty with free replacement. br>br>Time will tell, and if something goes wrong, I'll update my review, but these products work extremely well, and I'm not ashamed to have them in my toolbox. The Pros outweighed the Cons, and the only reason I wouldn't recommend it is if you work with high-level clients on a regular basis. air that is fueled This toolset comes highly recommended by me to anyone looking for a good set of wrenches and sockets for their garage or shop. If you found my review useful, please like it. Thanks! br>br>Amazon link for a 24V Greenworks Impact Driver that I use and think is a good deal:

You get your money's worth with this high-quality tool set! I wanted to wait a year after purchasing this set of tools to replace my old Craftsman set, which was 30+ years old
5/5

I am a retired HVAC mechanic who now tinkers on my and my wife's cars, and I love these tools that have stood up to the abuse I've given them. This is the set for you if you prefer high-quality tools. When they arrived, I opened the package and immediately recognized them as high-quality tools. $166 for a 247-piece tool set is hard to beat, and the case they come in is also tough.

It was a deal breaker because of the poor case
3/5

The plastic case, as others have stated, is poor. None of the sockets are held in place by anything. All of the sockets will fall out if the case is opened incorrectly. I don't want to think about or deal with that when I'm at work. My case was also slightly deformed, which caused some sockets to fall out of place even when the case was closed. The faulty case was a deal breaker for me, so I promptly returned it. I did not put any of the tools to the test.
