DEWALT Mechanics Tool Set, 192-Piece (DWMT75049)

I needed the 1/2" drive ratchet for a springtime repair on April 7 and discovered it to be defective right out of the box the first time I used it. When it was set to remove bolts, it would not lock or stay locked. I went back to Amazon because the Amazon web page said it was sold by one company, but they said they weren't the ones who sold it to me. br>br>When I contacted Amazon, I learned that it had passed the 30-day period, so I had to deal with DeWalt directly. I had an unfinished job and a defective but brand new 1/2" ratchet driver, so it wasn't practical for me to evaluate or test all 192 items within the 30-day period to ensure they weren't defective. br>br>When I contacted DeWalt, they promised to send me a new one, but only for "this one time," despite their literature claiming a lifetime warranty. The "one time" probably meant free shipping, but they acted as if they were assisting me. Anyway, the best they could do was tell me to wait ten minutes. A replacement will be sent to you within 14 days. So, why does DeWalt take ten minutes to complete this task? Is it worth it to wait 14 days to get it replaced? It makes no sense, and I'm still without the tool I require. br>br>A word of caution with this 192-piece tool set: double-check everything before the 30-day period expires, or expect to wait up to two weeks for a simple replacement. Otherwise, you risk becoming stuck in the middle of a project and having to go out and purchase a replacement to keep it moving. br>br>DeWalt's quality and service were not up to par for a well-known brand, and I will not be purchasing any more DeWalt products in the future.

Once upon a time, I used a half-inch drive. Today I started using a 3/8 inch drive, which only works in one direction regardless of which way the switch is turned. When I called Customer Service, they told me that I needed to take it to a DeWalt service center to have it repaired under warranty. They had originally advised me to drive to Austin, Texas, which is about a 2-hour drive one way. They eventually gave me a phone number in Fort Worth, but when I called, no one answered. Almost all of my shop tools are DeWalt, but this is the first time I've attempted to use their warranty service; DO NOT BUY if you live outside of a major city. I ordered another hard drive from Amazon, but I'm no longer going to buy DeWalt tools. The cost of replacement was less than the cost of one way gas, and there was no hassle or time involved.

When I opened the box, the first thing that struck me was how heavy it was! I don't know how heavy it is because the label doesn't specify, but I'm guessing it's around 45 pounds. The case is also quite large, measuring 22"x18"x4", requiring more storage space. If you're thinking about buying, keep these two things in mind. From the outside of the kit's wrapping, I've included pictures of what's included. I'm not sure why Amazon rotated the photos when I uploaded them, so please accept my apologies. These are heavy-duty tools. br>br> They are guaranteed to last a lifetime. I suspect I'll be passing them down to my future sons, who may in turn pass them down to their sons. However, you should keep in mind that there may be a lot of sockets and tools in the kit that you will never use, so keep that in mind when making your purchase. This is the last socket set I'll ever need, so I just wanted something that had all the drives and all the sockets for each drive.

My order has just arrived. One of the four case latches was missing, which I noticed right away. When I called DeWalt's 800 number, I was told that they were closed at 2 p. m. 15pm. After that, I went to their website to make a request for a latch. You must first complete a lengthy form before pressing the "continue" button. An error message appeared after I completed the form in great detail. So I did it all over again (it didn't save any of the data), and it still didn't work! I believe I have a faulty part and have been unable to contact DeWalt via phone or email. It was disappointing. On Monday, I'll give it another go. If I still can't get in touch with them, I'll have to return the entire package to Amazon. This review focuses on quality assurance and customer service, both of which have received a big fat zero so far. I gave three stars because the tools themselves appear to be of good quality, but I won't be able to test them if I have to return the kit. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> It's now 3 p. m. on the west coast, and I've just tried calling the Sacramento Service Center. I chose "Speak with a customer representative" after listening to the lengthy recorded message, and the phone began to ring. It made an odd noise and hung up after a few minutes. If this is how their warranty works, (I can't call the 800 number, and I can't contact them online), I cannot recommend this product because I am unable to contact the local service center; remember, one of the main reasons we buy this stuff is because of their "lifetime warranty. " They appear to be avoiding their customers, which is unfortunate.

Everything that is good. This is an excellent set. All if the essentials are present, and the toolbox is not overflowing with driver bits to increase the tool count. The box is hefty and substantial. This is not for the faint of heart. lol. Dewalt quality all the way.

It's an excellent set of tools. The 6- Point sockets are much better than Husky H1003D20SWS at grabbing screws. However, I believe that there is a significant problem with quality control. When a socket is placed standing on a table surface, the bit will appear slanted. 8 of my bit sockets are not properly mounted. Also. Take a look at the illustration.
