The pliers that can cut music wire come in handy (in my hands at least!). I have a pair of German made pliers that I bought in England 25 years ago and have used them for that purpose ever since. Eventually, the cutting edge is left with small circular indentations, even when they still work. My previous wire cutting pliers had worn out and it was time to get myself another good set, which will serve me well for several years to come.
My use of this tool recently included cutting 4x6s with it As I installed an amp in my vehicle, I had to cut a thick AWG (wire for power and ground) and I have to say, after using this cutter to cut that wire, I am convinced that, if you have the strength in your hands, you can cut loads of wire. In order to see how far I can take these cutters, I will have to do exercises to get extreme man hands. I really like this.
Although Knipex has always been a staple in my toolbox, I was disappointed when I received these cutters. Toward the tip of the cutters, they cut perfectly but at the back they don't cut all the way. I tried returning them but Amazon gave me the runaround when I tried to find an outlet to fix them. The jaws don't line up exactly as they should, and you can clearly see it where they are held up by the light. It may be worthwhile to try again with another Amazon representative. If you would like to speak to Knipex directly, you can do so. All of the other Knipex models I own are excellently made, so I'm sure this is just a fluke.
As soon as it comes out of the box, the cutter is dull, chipped, and does not align neatly with the cutting surfaces.
You should beware! As for the product I received, it was a five dollar pair of slip joints pliers in a knives box, not knives cutters. It's not too damn happy for me!.
My expensive tool truck branded cutters kept flexing and dulling out, so I was introduced to this brand by a friend. Despite their strong, durable and easy-to-use nature, these cutters are one of my favorites. They cut through metal as well, and the cutting edges last for a long time. I also have their alligator pliers, which I also recommend.
When it comes to tools, don't buy the cheap stuff. Over a long period, you will receive more money if you spend the money now. This package offers a lot of mechanical advantage and a very nice grip. This is a sharp and focussed package that does the job fast.
Through the years, I have owned many cutters just like this one, but this one seems to fit my hand better and cut tougher materials easier than any I have used in the past. Thank you for my purchase. I'm very satisfied with it.
