Questions & Answers

Do you know where it is ?

Husky chainsaw company just stamps the handle of their axes and outsources their axes to someone else. The old-fashioned style was made by Wetterlings, while the most recent style is by Hultafors Burks, both excellent producers of such products. From 1697 to the present, Hultafors Burks has built axes in Sweden. It has been difficult for them to find a distributor in the United States, but as of recently that has begun to change.

If I do not know how to sharpen hatchets, should I avoid this tool?

I am not holding a hatchet here, but an ax. The fact remains that neither an ax nor a hatchet don't need to be sharpened after every

I use it for backpacking and general camping chores, for example. During construction, which tool would you use to chop and split small diameter logs, limb, etc., a 13" curved hatchet, or a ?

You can meet your expectations with these two small axes It is currently available in 13" and 15" sizes. You might find the longer 15" handle is more effective at producing a stronger blow, though both share a 1 pound head (AFAIK). This is a 20" carpenter's axe, and it has a wide edge and a rather heavy head that weighs 2 pounds.

Which country of origin are you from?

It is impossible for me to determine the origin of the files. Sweden is the homeland of Husqvarna.

When it was first made, this was an excellent My excitement was unmatched when I learned I had When it was first made, this was an excellent As excited as I was to get a Swedish forged axe that looked lovely and worked well, I whipped it out
3/5

Even though it was expensive, the knife was impeccable, as the blade stayed sharp throughout the cutting process. The handle did not need coating it was plain and uncoated. Not much use as I mostly used it for tree limbs when I cut down one tree, but I took it with me on a backpacking trip for firewood preparation for two nights. As of now (August) 2016, I have had it from February to August 2016, and have used it on one tree and two (2) night trips. Split a few logs about 2 inches in diameter, chop a few logs about 4 inches in diameter The diameter of the wheel is 3 inches. As a matter of fact, this was more of a vacation axe, I used it only once a year for camping trips and This is what happened next. We had a stump in the yard in need of grinding, so I cut it to grade this weekend. By the axe, I removed a few pieces of wood that were rough on my hands. It snapped in half after I chopped off a few, swung five times, and it no longer bent. I may have hit a knot, the stump may be hickory, but this is within the range of what an axe can do. Taking a look at reviews, I see this has happened to many others as well. A damaged blade might result from hitting a knot, but splitting in half is clearly defective. No matter how well-designed it looks, I believe it was poorly built, because in the picture it appears to have snapped directly where the Husqvarna symbol is stamped. In this case, it seems that the stamp damaged the heat treat and made the blade brittle. When you look at the break, you can see that it seems to have broken cleanly across the stamped Husqvarna symbol, and the heat treat of the blade changed color around the stamp, suggesting that the stamping process altered the heat treat of the blade. The design of this website is poor.

We didn't realize how broken we were until we lost our heart
3/5

My favorite thing about this axe is its size and weight. One can use it one handed or two handed with a full swing, depending on how strong your grip is. My experience with the steel has been excellent it holds an edge well and I have never had any problems. The axe is a great option for anyone looking for an affordable axe for around their house. . . . and then we'll get to it. Just as I was about to stop for the evening, my axe broke in half! I spent a good part of the day working on trees when my axe broke in half. Forging flaws would have had to be at fault for the part to come That day was a total disaster for me! Because this axe is so good, I want to believe that mine was merely a fluke. As of now, I am waiting for a reply from Husqvarana about a I hope they send me a new one as soon as possible. Getting back to you as soon as possible, and I'll update my rating if I hear anything back. The axe would certainly be a purchase I would make The more I used it, the more I loved However, I should warn you that it may happen again if it happened to me

UPDATE Husqvarna U. was the company I spoke with. Customer service was contacted and the situation was explained. To illustrate what I was talking about, I offered to send them a picture of the axe. The upper management stated that because I purchased the axe over 90 days ago, there was nothing they could do about it. After waiting on hold for about 15 minutes, I got a call saying there was nothing they could do. We were very disappointed in this purchase. It must be about 80 dollars. A satisfied customer is worth much more than $00 in my opinion. That's such a pity.

As many others have done, I am broke
3/5

There is a problem with My axe broke after normal use the first time I took it camping, as it has broken for many other people. I gave it to my wife as a Christmas present over 90 days ago. I knew it was defective, and it broke in the same place as so many others did. There is nothing useful about it. I do not think it is worth the money, especially with the bad workmanship warranty and the poor.

A long hatchet with fractured wood at the top was sent to me by the post office
3/5

I was sent a hatchet with a fractured wood top and a long, dull split in the handle where your finger nail could easily get stuck. I returned home.

I am disappointed
3/5

Regularly, I use an ax for chopping wood (for heating my home) and for camping. There are close to a dozen different types of axes, hatchets, and splitting mails in my collection. The Grands Bruks quality was not in my plans, but I was expecting something better than the $20 ax from the hardware store. It is a good thing that the head of my axe is very well hung. I think it fits perfectly. That's probably going to be better than anything I can find for a low price. Having a problem with one's head is the only solution. The first thing I notice about my tool is that the head is The new guy's "handmade" appearance is clearly apparent once they get to the bit. Everything was straightened out by the time they got to the bit. The bit on my tool had a lot of curvature to it, a second problem. A Swedish tool should not look like the one pictured, and it did not look like the one I expected. Fortunately, I have the tools that I might need to fix this particular issue, but I did not plan to spend 2 hours with a brand new tool on a belt grinder. Finally, the firm stamping of the Made in Sweden logo onto the head is very As there is so little material left in the head, I'm really worried that I'm going to end up breaking it off right at the label with adequate use. Any splitting tool should not suffer from this issue, let alone one at this price, and it is inexcusable. The logo and emblem are already located on the head, so they should be positioned somewhere else. In fact, it seems that the tool was not actually designed for use. It looks like it was designed to be hung on the wall by some marketing fool. It was a big disappointment. I will definitely not be buying any Husqvarna hand tools again. The following update was posted on December 30, 2019 The ax I've been using for the last year is still the bane of my existence. The program has been given every opportunity to succeed, but it has not done so. There is no other ax I own as bad as this. Comparatively speaking, nothing is comparable.

I had no problems with this product I bought it around December 15, 2015
3/5

The axe head joined the handle whilst I was splitting wood on 12/26/15. I've contacted Husqvarna directly for warranty information and they essentially told me that there is only a 30 day warranty. As you can see, there's a definite manufacturing defect due to a kink in the metal at the top of the head, right where Husqvarna's logo is stamped. My opinion is that this clearly creates a point of weakness. It was a great axe up to that point, used nearly every day for me. A small axe of this size delivers a great deal of strength. Despite my $70 purchase, I am extremely disappointed that the manufacturer refuses to stand behind a product that's been in use for over two months. In addition, I have also contacted the seller through Amazon's message system and am waiting to hear back from her.
