Questions & Answers
Yes, there is a plastic enclosure with a latch. This item is extremely durable.
I'm 5'11" and it fits perfectly; the handle isn't excessively long (in line with industry standards); You'll find your personal / suitable grip on the handle ('choke up' or swing from the handle's base), similar to how you would with a baseball bat. This axe has a remarkable ability to split wood quickly. Simply use a file to keep the blade sharp.
A hard plastic "protector" is included with it. I believe it is for the sake of display and shipment safety. br>I'm a leatherworker who also makes ax covers!
Selected User Reviews For Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe, 36-Inch and Hatchet Bundle
As a gift, I purchased another. For the past 40 years, I've been splitting firewood. There is no other splitter like it, and I've tried every maul and axe I can think of. br>It's too bad this wasn't available back then.
The simplest chopping session I've ever had was with this ax. It's simple to swing, well-balanced, with a sharp edge and excellent ergonomics in the handle. The hatchet is just as nice, and the hard sheaths on both are excellent storage features.
The hatchet, on the other hand, is ideal for my needs. It's razor-sharp, perfectly balanced, and free of hand fatigue.
Instead of mauls, I split with axes, and this thing is incredible. Also, if you wanted to cut down a tree, this would be the place to do it. I adore this axe so much that I purchased a second one to keep on hand in case I misplaced the first.
This was an excellent product, but the handle is far too slick and slippery. I was cutting some wood with the hatchet when it slipped out of my glove and caught my shin, causing a large gash. I would've kept it if the handle was more comfortable to hold.
Without difficulty, I was able to split medium-sized rounds. Edge and weight are both excellent. I'm hoping the neck problem won't arise, but it could be a problem if you have a bad miss. So far, so good; I'll update once I've had a chance to use it more.
It's simple to swing and does a great job of splitting. The handle is sturdy and can withstand overswings that would shatter a wooden handle.
I own a number of Fiskar products, all of which are excellent. This axe is lightweight and simple to use. It's nice that the sharpener is included.
