Questions & Answers

What happens if I use his hatchet to carve spoons?

The big chunk you can carve with a knife may be rough enough to rough out with a knife, but I wouldn't want to carve the whole thing with one. Nevertheless, the hatchet is a nice piece of equipment.

Although the product description says 13 in, the product dimensions say 19 in, and the review says it came 15 in, the product actually came 15 Who is in charge of the length?

There is a 13" handle on the bag. The distance from the end of the handle to the top of the axe head is 15". Three is the number of the blade. The body is 5" and the head is 6". This is a 25-inch long piece. This hatchet was used for 3 hours chopping kindling from spruce trees. It is still in excellent condition.

A description of the product states that it has a 3-inch cutting edge. The diameter of a rounded corner is 5 inches, but how far is it from one corner to the next ?

A 3-point scale for me In a straight line, the tip to tip distance is 5/16".

An excellent but missed opportunity to be great! I was hoping to receive a quality hatchet, but what I received is far from it
4/5

There was a slight angle of 45 degrees in the grain orientation of the handle. Due to the fact that it is only a hatchet, I am not concerned about durability. Having crossed my fingers that I would be sent one with true parallel grain, it was a great relief. I think the handles do have some character due to the presence of the darker Hickory. There are no signs of looseness in the axe head, and it should hold tight over the long haul. If the Husqvarna name is going to be on the handle rather than painted, I wish they would wood burn / stamp it in. It's not a deal breaker though as I plan to finish the handle with boiled linseed oil regardless in the future. Also, I am not a big fan of warning labels painted on the backside of the handle. Blades did not have any knicks when they arrived and were fairly sharp. In order to remove the ridge from the primary grind, I plan to sharpen some more and give it a shallow back If there were some touchups it would still be the perfect product for the price, even if some things needed to be changed. I plan on purchasing this product again and recommending it.

My search is over! This is the hatchet I want
5/5

I previously purchased the Husqvarna 26" multi-purpose axe and was very happy with the quality and durability of that axe. I ordered this hatchet to replace The camp was easy to build since we felled small trees and split wood. I chose to go with a 13" hatchet after looking into a smaller option. in diameter) for firewood and kindling and split small logs for these purposes have been very enjoyable. It is very easy to cut with the hatchet because it has a heavy and sharp head that slices hard and deep when struck. Other smaller tasks such as shaving and carving are that much easier to accomplish with this. The shape and length of the hickory handle are what I like most about it. I treat it with boiled linseed oil often. This hatchet has exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to others.

Camp Hatchet Solid - camp survival
4/5

Though there are better axes on the market, for the money, this one provides the most bang for the buck. It looks dull at first, but it's brought right to life with a little filler. The handle measures 13" long and the head is 2" long, so the overall length is 15" and the weight is over 2lbs when equipped with a leather.

This is an unfinished product, but it is promising
4/5

In search of hatchet and small axes to use when camping, I spent several weeks researching them. This Husqvarna model is an impressive deal for a hand-forged Swedish steel hatchet in a desirable size and price range. I received a product with a machine-ground edge that appeared to be very coarse. As you can see, the head was all black other than the cutting edge. It did not look anything like the Amazon photo. There is little to recommend this knife. It is basically an unfinished product, despite the grain orientation of the handle and the leather sheath. This was a kit project that needed completion, so I looked at it as one that would need to be completed in forty-two days A little sweat equity is possible to turn the odd pounds I paid for it into something I was intending to use. started by lightly sanding the hickory handle and rubbing in a couple thin coats of boiled linseed oil to seal and protect the wood from rust. In addition, the grain took on a nice luster because of this. A felt blanket (also called surface saver) can be inserted into the leather sheath opposite the snap closure to add some tightness. Some blankets have adhesive that might be difficult to remove once they are in place. I saved another $25 by changing the size of the bag The price of a custom sheath is 40 dollars. With a lansky puck that would shave the hair on my arm, I finished the job. In order to protect the upper portion of my hickory handle from overstrikes and kickbacks, I have wrapped 550 paracord around it. In order to conduct my field test, I cut several green 2-foot cones Four inch tree limbs and batoning through a few four inch branches The weight, balance, and performance of the hatchet, as well as the grip and feeling of the hickory handle, made this a very appealing tool to me. I also found the edge to be quite well preserved during my use of The Husqvarna 13 inch hatchet earned four stars out of five in everything because it could be an exceedingly useful tool, but when it arrived, the handle was unfinished and needed work to make it as good as it could be. In the end, only time will tell if it has been worth it, and the true test will come this summer during my 45-day trip During this time, you will be camping for 60 days. Please review the photo of my final modifications and keep an eye out for my next update later in A recent update I've used this hatchet every day for a week and I am pleased with the way it handles and performs. Having modified it previously, I am pleased with its ability to adjust and handle. Despite the axe head having been pushed through the wood and into the ground multiple times, it maintained its sharp edge all week and showed no signs of wear or tear. It was sharpened only on the night before I broke camp, at the end of the week. Below is a photo of the hatchet next to a small pile of firewood I split, frequently using a batoning method to drive the axe head through the larger pieces.

I will continue to unbox this game
4/5

This is a good product out of the box. Despite the fact that I thought it would be too light after I bought it, it is a nice weight. An excellent choice for a handle on a hatchet would be a Hickory handle. This is not perfect, but it is off center just a little. There was no evidence that the handle had been It was easy for me to clean it up with steel wool for oil. I sharpened this blade and it had a good edge, only needed a little stone work to make extremely fine. If it does not perform, I will update the review, but based on the sharpening, the steel seems to be of.

The modification has been made and is perfect
4/5

Having never used a hatchet before, and having only bought this one to experiment with spoon carving, I can't claim to be an expert. Apart from one small issue, it has been very helpful to me so far. There was a constant thumping from the handle end against With short arms and a height of 5'7", I am 5'7". Because my arms had to be extended out of position in order to avoid hitting the chair, I had to extend my arms out of place. Rather than buying a replacement, I cut two inches off the end and it now works like a charm. It's possible I will upgrade in the future, but for now I'm satisfied with the version I have.

I don't mind replacing the handle if the handle develops a small crack, but it matters to me that I do so
4/5

The hatchet is sufficiently cheap for me to not mind abusing it and sharpening and filing out the nicks the hatchet gets as long as it's not too expensive. The fact that I can use two hands on this is nice, but I don't think the handle is the best for what I use it for most of the time, which is splitting wood. As a bonfire companion, I use it because it gets noticed and admired by my friends. My Estwing is what I use when my wife and I are together.
