Questions & Answers

It says full lifetime warranty, but what does that mean, given that I've gone through six Fiskar splitting axes and one maul in less than two years?

The handle of a traditional axe has been melded with the head of a modern axe
5/5

The X27, the X7, and the splitting maul are the other Fiskars spitting axes I own. I'm not a pro; I'm just a wood splitter who lives on a wooded property. We occasionally need trees cut down, and I've come to appreciate the process of cutting, splitting, and seasoning wood for use in our high-efficiency Loki fireplace and outdoor fire pit. I adore Fiskars, but I've recently developed a strong desire for a wood-handled axe, primarily for nostalgic and tactile reasons. I was about to buy other, more expensive German and Swiss splitting axes, but Fiskars came out with this just in time, and the modern lines and components of their original Fiskars are what drew me to them in the first place, so this was the best of both worlds for me. br>br>Because I work as a designer, shape is important to me. It's quite lovely, especially how the wood meets the resin head with a metal ring. I'll never have to worry about the head flying off because of your attention to detail. Fiskars will most likely replace the handle if it breaks (though I doubt it). They are a fantastic company that stands behind their product, and the balance is ideal; I use one hand for splitting larger logs and both hands for splitting smaller logs or kindling. I'm hoping they'll release a larger version, possibly in the 24-hour range. The range is 28". It comes highly recommended.

Splitting kindling is a breeze with this tool
4/5

The N12, N10, and N7 have all been purchased. All of them, in my opinion, are worthwhile purchases and would be classified as a mid-range purchase. Purchase of level hand axes. If you like Fiskars' X series of hand axes, you'll love these even more now that they've been given a makeover. Given its size, the N12 is capable of splitting small to medium-sized logs, but it really shines when it comes to splitting kindling. It will almost certainly find a permanent home in the truck for camping season, as I can quickly turn a piece of firewood into kindling. The N10 is the most versatile of the three, as it can chop reasonably well while also serving as a splitting axe. The N7 appears to be a nice backpacking hatchet, but I haven't had the opportunity to play with it as much as I would like.

I would give all the axes five stars, but it just seems like they got to the final touches with these axes and slacked off. The plastic molding on all three had a rough spot that needed to be smoothed out with a file. The way the molding was poured and then snapped out of the mold, I believe, contributed to it. On a semi-regular basis, it's just a silly thing to overlook. It's a premium axe, but it's not too bothersome. br>br>The sheath that comes with it is the real annoyance. I mean, it protects the axe's edge, but how difficult could it have been to make it a little more substantial by adding a belt loop or hook? Because of the black/gray color scheme and the lack of a solid means of attachment to your belt, the sheath is prone to becoming dislodged. I strongly advise putting it in a deep pocket or at the very least securing it to a belt loop or something similar with the button snap. I'll probably have to look into getting a better sheath from a small business, as suggested by others.

Looks as well as quality
5/5

I buy thousands of items on Amazon every year and don't devote much time to writing reviews. This review does not necessitate the use of a gift card. I own a number of Fiskars tools, including three different axes, three hachets, two pruning saws, shears, and probably more. I had no idea they made a nice looking little bushcrafting camp axe with a hickory handle until I bought one for my oldest son for Christmas. Great surprise: very nice appearance, great feel, nice sheath. I'm going to get myself another.

It squabbles with itself about how heavy it is
5/5

The n12 performs admirably as a splitter. The weight and balance are ideal for the job. However, I'd like to point out that it's also a fantastic camp tool, and if you're anything like me, you'll find it invaluable. a good axe for hiking I can pack it, and it works well for bucking soft woods up to two inches in diameter in a single whack. Anything larger than 3 1/2 to 4 inches is more difficult to fell, but you'll need a felling axe if you need to fell trees. This will be used to prepare the feather stick, notch, and tool. It'll set off a fero rod. Although it may be too heavy for some backpackers, I'm the type who makes do with what I have.

During the winter, do not use! This is a lovely axe that is a pleasure to use
3/5

Unfortunately, the third time I used it to split wood, my head broke off. I buy pre-split wood and cut it up into smaller pieces for fires. The performance of this axe was outstanding. When a winter storm hit, I invited some friends over for a fire. Because of the cold, I believe the plastic became brittle. I keep it inside, in a room with no heat or air conditioning. As a result, it spent days in subzero temperatures. This axe should only be used in the spring, summer, or fall. I'm sorry I wasn't aware of this earlier. It was a nice-looking axe that was also quite simple to use. I'm a small man (5'6" and 160 pounds). It was very comfortable to wear and did a fantastic job of splitting. I just wish there was a warning that it could crack in cold weather. Only in the summer would I have used it. This axe was one of my favorites, and I'm devastated to see it die in such a tragic way. It was only a year and a half since I bought it. I didn't use it much because I have other axes.

Splitter is fantastic! There isn't much to say about it except that it works fantastically! We have the larger x27 splitter, which is great for large logs, but it's just too big for splitting wood for kindling to start our cabin's wood stove or make a cooking fire outside
5/5

I have other "high end" small axes/hatchets and wish Fiskars had come out with this line years ago, and I'm considering buying the N10 hatchet as well - Exceptional work!.

Craftsmanship of the highest order! Great axe for bushcrafters and campers who want to bring an axe that is long enough to split wood but short enough to strap to the outside of a backpack
5/5

The build quality is excellent throughout, and it fulfills all of the requirements in terms of appearance, feel, durability, and functionality.
