Questions & Answers

What kind of material was used to make this?

Unless I do some "research", I cannot tell you exactly how great it is, but I can tell you that it's a great axe in my humble opinion. The design on this thing is very cool, as is everything Fiskars puts out. Tool makers are good at what they do. It has been ten or more years since I have used them. Even if you presented me with pruning loppers, I wouldn't look at them. Even if it is in a round-about way, I hope that answers your question - There's a way to do things.

In what ways is this hatchet different from the classic one?

There is a noticeable difference in the profile of the head as compared to a standard

A fantastic way to make kindling
5/5

Having bought the Fiskars X11 for one purpose and one purpose only, I intend to make small kindling out of wood that has already been split with Having a good balance and being able to swing easily with one or two hands makes this hatchet perfect for what I need. Even though I'm 6'2" I still find it easier to control a wheel with two hands. When I set up a large split log on a stump, I swing the X11 really hard and the log flies apart. Depending on the size, I can split them horizontally even if they are smaller pieces. It won't take long before I have a huge tub of perfectly split kindling. It worked exactly as I wanted it to. The Hatchet is a great new X11 tool. I hope it holds up. X11 would not be the method for splitting a full-size log, as its main use would not be for splitting. My opinion is that it's a bad idea. I doubt it could actually work, but it might. It just isn't possible due to the disproportionate weight of the head. I'm just throwing in my two cents.

It's a great tool for splitting! My current model is 36 inches, but I wanted to split kindling with a smaller model, 17 inches, from Fiskars
5/5

While the head of this axe is smaller and lighter than the longer handled Fiskars splitting axes, the overall weight is much higher. The lighter color is good for me, because I wanted a lighter color. I really like this In addition to being sharp, the head is designed in a way that makes the wood pop apart. In addition to replacing a smaller hatchet with a shorter handle, this one also has a wider Grasping the handle as you reach the end is not a problem here - we don't want to take it, we want to keep it. I find it to be quite useful. wood handle of the old hatchet was always coming loose, which was another reason why I replaced it. The one in question is mold on and should not have a problem like that. When I tested it on some chunks of wood, it worked fine There is no huge difference between the two. Of course, it won't split that kind of wood, but it can split medium-sized pieces of wood with no problem. It is good for making small kindling for the fire but mostly I use it near the stove to make small pieces of kindling for the fire. I love that it is made in Finland. Here are the kinds of things you can buy in Finland today. Fiskars' other items are almost exclusively made in China, so this is still a source that is close to the brand. The tool is of very high quality.

Hatchet of great quality
5/5

Due to its relatively low price point and positive reviews, I decided to purchase the hatchet. It's not in the cards for me to become a full-time musician This hatchet is great for camping trips and small woodland projects. I'm a long-time bushcrafter, but I wanted something safe and reliable for outdoor projects. When it's easier to use one of these tools over a saw, I prefer it because it's quicker. With my long arms, using the short handle is easier for me, and it allows me to use it more accurately. There's only one thing I don't like about it the plastic sheath. Even though it has a carrying handle, I can never carry it in one hand. I always carry it on my back, or attached to a pack. If I had a good tool belt, I'd put it there, but the sheath makes that difficult. My plans are to buy a nice leather sheath for it so that it can be concealed at home, and to leave the clunky holster behind.

The X11 Splitting Hatchet allows you to split a file into two It's a great tool for use in the A review of the X11 17 inch splitting hatchet is presented here
4/5

My wood stove starts easily thanks to it when I break down logs into an intermediate size between kindling and full logs, so I use it to break down seasoned split logs. We need a few pieces of paper and kindling, and two one-liter bottles There are two Measure in inches. Our x 11s are thick enough to fit, so we are good to go. As the X11 is short, it's super easy to control with just one hand, or just one hand and two hands. A log can often take several swings to break through, which is a great thing. There is no blame to be attached to the axe Such a short handle can only be used to generate a limited amount of force. The only time that I would use this as my primary splitting tool is if I had an overwhelming amount of unsplit logs to deal with, but for someone who has split wood delivered and wants to use it occasionally to break down logs for a fire, it is fantastic. Since the device is so small, it is very easy to adjust and easy to store. The tool is probably not one I would use as a camping tool - This should be done with an axe or hatchet that can be used for general purposes. If you're a homeowner who needs to do some light maintenance I think this is a pretty cool tool for splitting work.

This is a carry case that includes a wheelbarrow, so please don't use it with one! The thought of spending close to $40 on a little hatchet thingy initially sounded crazy to me
5/5

As soon as I took this out of the box, I could see that the light was coming from the front. In spite of the fact that you do not see a protective cover in any of the pictures of the hatchet, it does come with one. This protective case makes splitting quick and easy thanks to its easy release mechanism. To get the right head speed, I had to try a few times. Once I got the right head speed, all of my medium sized stumps split with a sharp It is understandable that you might want a bit heavier spitting accessory for big stuff, but I can also see why this is a MUST for anyone who spits. It will split any medium logs quickly (though there is a As far as heavier stuff goes, I have not tried it! Logs) into smaller pieces, such as Although this item is sharp, it should not be handled lightly. While I was splitting the wood, I was trying to stay in my safety-conscious mind. I tried to split a log as quickly as possible by putting it in my wheel barrow (as I thought it would be higher). I said I would swing and the log kicked out from under itself and the hatchet went right through my wheel barrow. I heard something muffled coming from the direction of the axe that sounded like, "Stupid idiot!" The blade ding did the trick just a tad, but this thing still split like a boss! Having the axe sharpener to go with it was an excellent choice. To go along with this, I will be getting the X27! Never in my life have I split logs so easily!.

Was unsure what the fees would be for returning, but was eager to return it
3/5

Was unsure what the fees would be for returning, but was eager to return it. Because I had chopped a piece of wood with it, and it had marks on the finish, I felt uncomfortable sending it back. While I wasn't sure what their refund policy was, I felt like I was going to be charged a hefty restocking fee or have to pay for the return of my item. The wooden handle would be a greater plus, and the smaller version for less than half the price would be a pleasant surprise. I do not believe this set is worth $70 to be honest. I will be more careful to buy from a store that offers free returns when I make my next purchase. It was a bad experience all in I was not impressed with the Hatchet and believe that it is.
