It's the ideal size for me, and it's very simple to use. To reduce the stress of shearing, I decided to try hand shearing my sheep. This was my choice after doing some research. It was also reasonably priced, so I decided to give it a shot as my first hand shear. I'm 5' 3" and female, so my hands aren't particularly large, but this fit them perfectly. (You will need a strong grip, but the spring action will make it easier. ) ) They can also be used to cut through matted, messy wool. These are also simple to sharpen with a large sharpening stone (and yes, you will need to sharpen them after shearing a few sheep to make the shearing process go more smoothly - see below). After shearing about four sheep, I sharpened them for the first time. Nothing is ever truly sharp. Although there may be better hand shears for shearing wool, the majority of them are far too expensive and large. These are excellent value for money and do the job well.
I'm a new shearer with a small flock of sheep that I'm working on. I started with a pair of zenport shears because I didn't want to spend too much money on a tool until I knew what I needed. It's like switching from kid scissors to adult scissors with these Bergers! The weight and action make shearing much faster and easier for me (though I'm still a slow shearer).
These are incredible- sharp and simple to use Allows me to keep my topiary trimmed on a more regular basis.
I started by cutting some paper and then went on to shear a sheep, which was a lot of fun. These are my new scissors, which are razor sharp and cut through almost anything.
