Selected User Reviews For Barnel B1000L 27.5-Inch Lightweight Straight Blade Hedge Shears
I began working in the landscaping industry nearly 45 years ago, and for the past 15 years, I have owned and operated my own tree and shrub nursery. Aside from keeping my inventory neatly trimmed on a weekly basis, I also design and produce my own topiaries and landscape-sized bonsai for my nursery stock. All of this is to say that these are by far the best hand shears I've ever bought. They were ready to trim right out of the box, and they sang with each snip(those who do what I do will understand what I mean when I say: "sing"). These shears are very sturdy but light in weight, and they can be wiped down after each use. They ought to last a long time.
Wow! This is one of the best Amazon purchases I've ever made. These are thin and slender, with a sharp edge. Without any pain or cramping in my hands, I was able to trim all of my hedges and topiaries in the front and backyard. Cleaning is simple, and the blades are protected by a sleeve. Make your life as simple as possible. This is the one you should get.
I have a lot of boxwood hedges that I trim frequently, and I've gone through a lot of shears that don't last season after season. br>These, on the other hand, are PERFECT in every way. I'm especially happy that I'll be able to get replacement blades if I need them. They're lightweight and razor-sharp. br> It's a joy to work with. I strongly advise you to do so.
I noticed a chip on one of the blades when I first received the shears. I decided to put up with it rather than deal with a return because I needed to get some work done. The chip on the blade grew to the point where the blades wouldn't close the first time I used the shears. In a completely unrelated incident, one of the blades' tips broke off while I was using it. I wasn't cutting any hard wood with my loppers because I was trimming new growth off some evergreen shrubs. I'm afraid I can't recommend these; they're not worth the premium price.
It's an embarrassment. Although it claims to be made in Japan, the steel is soft, and the blades have already chipped after only a few uses. I really wanted to like it, but I was worried I'd gotten a bad copy. It's the same thing when you get the replacement. It's unclear whether the steel is truly Japanese.
It was well worth the money. Maybe they do make a lopper, I wish. With the exception of my Poulon Pro chainsaw, I have never been happier with a gardening tool.
These shears are lightweight and inexpensive, but they have a few flaws, the most notable of which are the small rubber "bumpers" on the handles that keep the blades lined up by preventing them from colliding. These are made of low-quality rubber or plastic that wears out quickly and causes the handles to hit your knuckles when you use them. When the blades are closed, the sharp edges are on the outside edge, where they will cut your fingers if they come into contact with them. The manufacturer could easily remedy this by using a better, longer-lasting material. The blades themselves are very sharp and of good quality. With the cantilevered handles, you can clip a flat, level cut while keeping your hands out of the shrub. The ARS k-series has a design that is similar to the ARS k-series. My k-shears cost 1000 shears, which is twice the price, but my k-shears are worth twice the price. The bumpers on the 1000 have been in heavy use for almost ten years, and the Barnel brand bumpers wore out in less than a year.
They have a nice feel in your hand, are sharp, and clip cleanly. They should, however, come with a warning: "It's possible that this will result in extreme clipping!" " It was so easy and smooth that I didn't want to stop clipping!" LOL! br>If you are looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using.
