To be used with our H2OLOX, ORIGINAL, MARINE, and URETHANE finish products, this base coat sealer is formulated. They form a waterproof barrier and a protective film that is resistant to common household use and foot traffic when used together.

Use in conjunction with other items. To completely waterproof, you'll need a topcoat.

Like all of our Tung Oil formulas, 90% of the resin portion of the formula comes from renewable natural resources and is VOC compliant in 50 states.

Allow for overnight drying before applying the final coats. Dry times may be lengthened by insufficient ventilation, high humidity, or cold temperatures.

Use as a base coat on interior or exterior* wood surfaces, such as floors, windows, doors, cabinetry, woodwork, tables, furniture, bar tops, picture frames, and a variety of other woodworking projects. * There are no mold or mildewcides in this product. If the project is for the outside, one can be added.

Do I apply the tung oil after staining my wood?

Instead of using a stain, tung oil should be used. Many woods naturally develop an amber color as a result of this process. On the Waterlox website, you'll find detailed instructions.

How do you fix a second coat that has become rough?

A light sanding with ultra-fine sandpaper or a scouring pad should do the trick.

I used a brush to apply it, despite the fact that the website advises against it. It has a lot of weight to it. I'm not sure if I should keep going and put a finish on it or if I should strip it - and how?

It has to go. It's important that the layer is as thin as possible. I used half a bottle and two coats with a rag to cover a double sink vanity. Check out YouTube for a great video on how to finish with UTOS (40-minute video). ish minutes (applying sealer, then the clear coat itself)

It took me about two weeks to complete because I started with the underside of the counter for a pantry, let it dry completely, and then repeated the process on the top. All of this was completed prior to the installation of the counter. As suggested, I did a test run on a scrap of wood and stained it. I used it on a two-inch-thick douglas fir board that cost a fraction of the price of butcher block. As I had anticipated, the final product was a little darker than I had hoped, but it turned out to be quite lovely. I have no idea how long it will last or how resistant it will be to water. , but I don't intend to use much water on it other than to clean it. I had a hard time deciding between satin and matte. I was concerned that the matte would be too flat, but it has a nice, rich sheen to it.

I applied it with Organic Bamboo Reusable Makeup Remover Pads from Amazon. br>I used it on walnut and was very pleased with the results. For wood with a high tannin content, I applied two coats, as recommended. After that, I used Waterlox's H2OloX. The Tung oil protects the wood by sealing it. The H2OloX shields it from harm. For protection, urethanes can be substituted for H2OloX. A foam brush is used to apply the H2OloX.
