Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this below the waterline of a boat?

If the boat is being kept on a trailer. yes. If your boat will be out on the water for more than a few days, you'll need an antifouling coating system.

What is the volume of a quart?

One can was enough to paint everything except the bottom of my 14 ft x 4 ft Jon Boat. Remember that if one can isn't enough, you can always order another one or use it for touch-ups. You can always return an item if you order too many. Another piece of advice: Sand your boat first, then prime it, and finally paint it red. I didn't do it, and my red paint is peeling off my boat as a result. It's a lovely, gleaming red that looks fantastic! I hope this has been of assistance.

I'm not sure what kind of thinner I need to use with this paint. ?

Interlux 333 was my choice, and it performed admirably. Corey's point is well taken; Using a high-quality roller or brush, the thinned paint was applied to a smooth finish.

Is clear polyurethane compatible with this product? My kitchen cabinets are in desperate need of repainting. ?

It's not something I'd advise you to do. Because it is a very aggressive paint thinner, it may lift the old finish. Thin it as needed. I would, however, suggest Lowe's furniture paint ($25 per quart). ) It can be customized in a way that this paint cannot. I covered some melamine cabinets that I moved from my kitchen to the laundry room with the Lowe's product. Using a foam roller and a fine hair brush, application was a breeze. Two coats are required. It's been two years and there hasn't been a scratch on it.

I was let down
3/5

The yellow was purchased by us. Perhaps other colors would work better, but the first coat appeared to be translucent. Although there was a yellow tint, we were able to see right through it the majority of the time. Furthermore, the paint appeared to be bubbling or blistering as it was being applied. It looked like there was foreign matter in the paint, but it was thoroughly mixed, and there were no lumps in the can until it was loaded onto the boat. It became lumpy after that. So we waited over a week before sanding the entire boat (180 grit, 400 grit, 800 grit) and trying again. Bad idea. The sanded surface didn't seem to like the second coat. It had a tendency to bead up and spread unevenly. We didn't even get the second coat finished. We're going to toss this paint and go buy something new, then try again in a week or so, once we're sure this coat is completely dry. What a disaster.

It is of poor quality
3/5

Although I used the roll and tip method, I was not happy with the overall finish of this product. The paint continued to sag/run at a 30-degree angle. 45 minutes after the first coat of paint has been applied. After a light sanding with 320 grit paper, the second coat was applied. The paint ran and sagged in the same way. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that I applied in a humidified environment (Florida). br>br>Since painting, I've taken the boat out twice, and the paint has held a stain just as well as the old "cheaper" paint. It takes an eternity to clean the area of the boat where the waterline meets the deck. Overall, this product was a huge disappointment for the money.

This is a fantastic single part poly
5/5

This is an excellent one-part poly paint. I used to use Pettit, but this time I chose Interlux. It's a little more durable than Pettit, but it's not quite as good. part and isn't as long-lasting as 2- The good news is that because it's single-layer, you can touch it up fairly easily. One thing I really like about it is how easy it is to apply. I usually roll and tip, but this time I was able to simply roll and it leveled out beautifully. I've added a few of their non-fiction books to the mix. Skid grit was used for non-skid areas, and it worked well there as well. I'm a big supporter.

Allow a week for the cure to complete
3/5

I bought it with the intention of tipping and rolling it, but after three weeks of sanding and priming, I decided to have a painter spray it. It's a difficult product to work with because it clogs up the paint gun and doesn't dry when it's supposed to. Despite the Florida sun's assistance, we had to delay the launch by a week to ensure that the lift straps didn't pull it back off like the anti-fouling painters tape had.

The end result was just as good as my planning
5/5

I used Interlux bright side white to cover three layers of previous paint on my 1974 ketch. The end result was just as good as my planning. The paint looked great, smooth, almost gel coat-like gloss where I carefully sanded and blended old chips. The flaws could be seen through the paint where I had missed spots sanding. From a distance of 5 feet, everything appears to be in order. I simply used a small roller and a brush to apply the paint. This is a very quick application.

Application is simple
5/5

This paint went on smoothly after the prep work. I used the roll/roll method, first laying down a thin primary layer and then rolling on a nearly dry second layer. It was difficult to tell that this paint wasn't sprayed from a few feet away because it leveled out perfectly on both vertical and horizontal surfaces.

This is a beautiful painting
5/5

This is a beautiful painting. It's very easy to use. This is particularly true if you roll and tip. Brushing fluid should be added to adjust to your painting style, temperature, and humidity. I painted the interior of a fiberglass dyer dinghy, and it's still looking great.

Great job on the final product! I used the suggested roll to apply this over the recommended white primer
5/5

tip technique, and it only required two coats to achieve the desired result. After making repairs and sanding, washing with a mild detergent and an Acetone wipe, I used it on the hull of a Banshee sailboat (13 ft) with weathered gelcoat, and I have enough left over for a third and possibly fourth coat if needed down the road. However, if I were to do it again, I would thin the second coat with a little thinner.
