My deck receives afternoon sun where I live in North Carolina. Every two years, we try to re-do our deck. It will last much longer if it is kept in the shade.
Yes, we used it on purple wood from Brazil, which I believe is the same.

On our hardwood deck, we only use this oil. The key is to make sure the wood is thoroughly cleaned before applying the oil. If you don't, you'll end up with dark, sticky spots that encourage mildew growth. This year, we cleaned the wood with a low-pressure electric pressure washer. It was extremely effective! Once you've applied a light coat of this oil, you can move on to the next step. enjoy! It's well worth the effort, but don't forget your gloves.
Those are the before and after shots. It's hard for me to believe it's the same set of furniture. This is a fantastic item. Before using this, I made sure to read all of their instructions and watch their You Tube video. I can't believe it looks the same as it did 15 years ago when I bought it.
The stain is very nice. Even in terms of color. The same cleaning and bleaching product from the manufacturer was used, and the deck turned out beautifully.
Unbelievable product for my front porch, which is made of hard wood. The product had a slight brown tint to it, but the end result was fantastic. Prior to application, I thoroughly cleaned the deck.
It works best on hardwood and should not be used on treated pine, cedar, or other similar materials.
For my ipe deck, this is my third order of this product. It took three years to complete.
When it rains, it beads up nicely.
