Questions & Answers

Is it okay to use this on a cutting board that has previously been sprayed with mineral oil?

If anyone else has the same stupid idea as me, please let me know. DO NOT USE A CUTTING BOARD FOR THIS PROJECT. THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF FOOD YOU WANT TO EAT.

Is this top coat long-lasting enough for a breakfast table?

Yes. 5 coats. It's all good. It's been applied to a floor as well as furniture.

How long does it take for this to dry? I'm building a long dining table, and I'd like it to be functional. ?

Temperature and relative humidity are two factors that influence the outcome. (If it's dry, add a third.) 4 hrs. ) If the first coat isn't tacky enough, apply a second coat. Put a t-shirt over it. You can quickly put together a table if you wear a shirt. It will level out and there will be no ridge lines visible. Lightly sand with 320-grit sandpaper. Blow off dust between coats at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Typically, three coats are applied. The product is fantastic.

Is it available in a low-cost plastic bottle? All of mine have been set up and soild. ?

The gallon bottle is made of plastic. Its goal is to squeeze out as much air as possible so that it does not solidify. The bottle will appear deformed, but that's fine; simply remove all of the air. By doing this and putting the lid back on right after pouring it out, I was able to get a gallon that has lasted more than four years. I finished a few sets of cabinets and still have a few more to finish. I wish they were all packaged in a single plastic bottle. Despite the fact that the large bottle has deformed and there is probably less than a quart in there, this method works best and appears to be the simplest. I got the can for a piece of walnut furniture because I wanted it to be fresh and now have to figure out how to keep the air out (bloxygen is expensive and inconvenient, etc.).

It's a fantastic product. It looked lovely on my island, but I ordered a quart and only received a pint from the seller. Wow, you're attempting to defraud people. They aren't worth buying. They even put a quart label on it, despite the fact that the can itself reads pint. I documented the event with photographs.

If done correctly, it's simple to put in place

for a stunning, high-gloss finish This finish was a lot of fun to work with! However, I discovered that diluting it with 3 parts mineral spirits, 1 part finish, allowed me to apply it perfectly with the RIGHT cloth.

It is important to use 100% COTTON t-
It is important shirts. If any polyester or man-made fiber is present, this product will produce bubbles EASILY. Materials that have been manufactured are employed. Regardless of how slowly the finish is "dragged. " br>br>I also discovered that when this finish was not diluted, it bubbled up more. It also had a higher proclivity for leaving "ridges. " " Before diluting, I stirred it very carefully because there is a separation of ingredients from the bottom of the can that needs to be mixed up. Because stirring and pouring can easily cause bubbles, I took my time. br>br>I used this to finish my maple wood kitchen table, which was natural. I made a (white?) t-shirt out of 100% cotton. 12 to 18 inch long hand-width strips were cut from the shirt. I wrapped them in a folded paper towel and used the non-stick spray. For applying the finish, there is a lap part. I put on a protective glove and proceeded to work slowly and deliberately. I poured a small amount of diluted finish from my container into my non-metallic container. gloved hand onto the table, carefully laying the cotton t-shirt (being careful not to create any bubbles). Using my gloved hand, I dragged the finish onto the finish, dragging it very slowly. a small amount of liquid is being poured and dragged slowly I kept going until I got to the end. Before applying any new coats, I let the diluted finish "melt" into the previous swipes and dried to a glossy shine. I let each coat dry for 12 hours before using a hand sander with 400 paper to "scratch" up the surface a little. It was decided to leave the final coat glossy. I am very happy with the results and would recommend it to others. I'm going to buy more. br>br>I've included three photos of the final product. one full view of newly applied finish with window light, one final project of the table's end with flash, and another final project without flash.

Protection that is both soft and lovely! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes yes, yes yes yes yes yes yes It's risky to put an undermount sink in a wood top
5/5

But, because I'm a neat freak, I make sure everything is in order. An old North Carolina maple slab was used to make this wood top. I've never worked with wood before, but I can drill a hole in just about anything, and I knew I didn't want a mirror. My top would look like it was made of plastic if I used that finish. br> There are four coats on this top. Make sure to allow plenty of time for drying in between and take into account the humidity in your area. Despite the fact that I was itching to get started, I was rewarded for my patience. br> Satin provides a beautiful, protected glow that allows all of the natural tones to shine through while also preserving the textures in your piece. Due to the thin nature of this product, even a 1/16" worm or termite hole may not be completely filled. I like how the smaller textures are displayed. If you don't, you'll have to settle for a slow-moving vehicle. It's best to fill them with curing epoxy, as shown in the picture with the larger knots. br> I'm a huge fan of Arm- Seal! I'd get a new empty paint can to keep it in because the gallon size is such a good deal. If you're not going to use it for a few months, a layer of plastic over the liquid surface won't hurt. br> Best of luck with your home improvement projects!.

This is fantastic
5/5

I've been using Arm R Seal for many years as a wood sculptor. It's ideal for the curved surfaces I frequently create, but it also works well on flat surfaces. I have sculptures in my home that were completed decades ago and are still in good condition; curved surfaces are best applied with a rag. There are some disadvantages to this product. Arm R Seal cannot dry because it is made of very oily exotic woods like Cocobola. This can be avoided by applying shellac to the wood first. I've had mixed results using paint thinner and other solvents to dry the oily wood surface. Arm R Seal also has a significant storage issue. If the liquid absorbs too much oxygen, it will begin to harden, and once it begins to harden, it will not stop, so you should use it as soon as possible. It's nearly impossible to avoid streaks in the finish once it starts to get sticky. I tried squeezing the air out of collapsible bottles to cut down on my losses, but the best solution is to replace the used volume with smooth, clean stones, leaving no air in the bottle or can. Because the gaps between the stones cause some loss, the size and shape of the stones are important. Despite these challenges, Arm R Seal outperforms every other finish I've tested. It simply requires proper care, as with all fine things.

From now on, it'll be my goal to complete the task! I've used a lot of different finishes in the past, and I've always preferred Tung Oil products UNTIL NOW! When it came to finishing a parawood table with multiple surfaces, I knew there was only one option: a wipe-on finish
5/5

As usual, I tried the Tung oil, but GEEZE the odor (which had never bothered me before, but now does). The next day, I took another look at it and decided to sand it down and apply the General Finishes Arm R Seal semi gloss because I didn't like the prominent Amber tone. Because I usually prefer Satin, I was hesitant to use it on this project. But what a difference it makes! VERY LITTLE SMELL, and it wiped on beautifully, darkening the wood even more in a true wood tone, which made a huge difference. br>This product has exceeded my expectations!.

Excellent product, but it takes some patience and practice to get the best results
5/5

Practice with scrap first to get a feel for the product, and wait until the weather is warm and the air is dry for the best results. Wind and dust are another factor to consider if you're working outside. It's not easy to get a perfect glass-making result. It's not easy to finish, but with a little practice, it's possible. Between finishes, 400 grit sandpaper appeared to be effective. Also, depending on the type of wood you're working with, your results will vary. Cherry gave me the best results, while Sapele took twice as many coats to achieve the same results.
