Not being able to distinguish wood from metal is a bad thing
3/5

As much as I dislike giving negative reviews, I have to say that this thing is like I followed the instructions and used it according to the instructions. Metal should be set as the sensor. A couple years ago one of my children and I purchased a house. I was looking for the main water shutoff valve. It was drywalled over by the genius who finished the basement, requiring a device like this. I knew the location of the valve about a foot away. Thus, I decided to obtain the detector to help me identify the pipe and the valve. However, this device does not differentiate between wood and metal, so it cut the side of the wood and made a large enough hole for me to put my hand through to find the valve nowhere near where this device detected

I checked the wood just to be certain there are no nails, screws, staples, or anything metal on the wood, behind the wood, or in front of the wood. My experience with this device leads me to conclude that I would NOT recommend it. Now I have to repair a 14 x 14-inch area to fix something that is 6 x 6 inches.

There are a lot of design flaws and a high cost
3/5

This company is really good and I was expecting more from them. There is nothing I can recommend about this stud finder. Below, I'll give you a list of the primary issues. However, stud finders that are less expensive and smaller do an excellent job of rooting out studs. I conducted all of my testing using standard sheets- The wall is composed of rock, wood studs, and is installed using residential standards. believe issue #2, visibility, is probably the biggest issue that should have been resolved before manufacturing and releasing the product. This is *1/1. There is an inconsistency in these data sets. Even when I knew where the stud was, the readings were all over the map. There were a lot of false readings and that was It was also inconsistent to detect the sides of the stud, even after doing the 3-D method As per the manual, scan for fine tuning. * ** 2. The visibility of the site is important There is too much light coming from the ring, and the LCD screen is Your pupils will constrict to the point where you won't be able to see the LCD screen with the ring light on. It was only about a 20-degree angle of good visibility when the backlight for the LCD was on, so you had to move your head up or down to see where the scanner was. The scanning must always be at eye level, unless you intend to always do it that way. I'm not sure. The interface is very frustrating and hard to use. 1. 2. 3. Sensitive to AC in excess Sadly, the scanner is so sensitive to AC that it truly impedes normal use of the device. A scanner can pick up AC wiring located within a 12 inch radius, deactivating stud finding, no matter where the user is in that radius. It was at that point both annoying and unusable.

You should not buy it
3/5

Behind the tiled shower wall, I was unable to locate a wood stud. In summary I wouldn't recommend buying. My attempts to find wood studs behind a tiled wall failed to find them in either unit. Since I have to install safety grab bars behind tiled shower walls as part of my handyman duties, I sometimes need to locate the wood studs behind the tiles. A standard stud finder is excellent for locating studs in It becomes more challenging for the finder when you have thicker materials and other types of materials, such as cement backer board or HardiBacker with tile on top. My search has been centered on finding a reliable unit that would be able to find the stud and not give inaccurate readings based on other things, such as water pipes and electricity. Making a pilot hole in drywall is a fast and easy way to test for a problem. It is not easy to replace a hole in tile (even a small one) and it might be even more difficult if I hit a water pipe or electrical wire!

This unit is supposed to locate As for the steel or electrical components, I didn't test them. To find wood studs behind a tiled shower wall, all I needed to do was look for wooden beams. In the end, it did find the wood studs. But it didn't just find the studs (slowly but it did find them), it found them where none were present. This would result in ruining a perfectly good shower wall if I used it to drill a hole through tile to secure a grab bar. As well as using other techniques such as finding the stud on the back side and measuring to the same location as the stud finds in the shower, I've also used other tools to verify the stud finder has been accurate. Due to its fault, the scanner was not able to do this, so it was returned. I found the Franklin Sensors FS710PROProSensor 710+ (available at Amazon) to be both cheaper and more reliable, while not perfect. The Bosch GSM120 is not perfect, but is still much better than its predecessor. This is *br.

The situation is not as good as it could be
3/5

After spending such a large amount, I am disappointed. I have not found a stud in any of my walls so far. Approximately ten passes back and forth are needed for them to be found. The tool has been used more than 12 times in my house to locate studs for hanging pictures or mirrors. There are different readings depending on the time of day. I go back and forth, back and forth. The first five times I center on the stud, I have to go VERY slowly and try very carefully to determine if I have found anything. Having purchased a sonic stud finder 20 years ago that lasted until this year, was very cheap, and outperformed this one, I am disappointed in its performance.

There's nothing special about it
3/5

Last year I bought a new house, and all the studs were like, "New house, who dis?"? Having read the above at least twice, I think it needs to be re-read The device showed up in several different modes, but after reading the instructions and praying to the deity of construction, I am sad to report that it was a complete failure. I wanted to install plant hooks, and this thing gave me errors for things I already knew My old computer has been replaced by my new one It costs $10 to send your child to school. This was my first time using the 00 stud finder and I.
