Questions & Answers

Can this machine perform the same function as a 20" planer. My shop has quite a few machines, so I'd like to find a tool that can do most if not all of them for me. ?

You should be able to use it if your cutterhead is at the bottom. In most cases, I do not think it will win if it's on top.

Is there a case included with this?

It just comes in a box, which opens from the front to the back, like a book case, but with no paper inside

This is a rotational device - what is the difference?

In addition to using them for setting up my jointer and planer, I have both. Although I do not use them as much as I used to when I had straight knives in both machines, I still use them since I upgraded to spiral heads. These gauges are both based on the same principle, measuring the blade heights at the top using dial indicators. The dead - TDC (Time and Date Center). The Multi Gauge is easier to use on my jointer because the dial indicator has a larger diameter tip (nearly 1/2"). I don't have to position the gauge so carefully to measure the blade at TDC with it. I have to place the dial indicator tip perfectly in order to achieve the same measurement since the Dial Indicator tip on my Rotacator is only 3/16" in diameter. Unlike the Rotacator, however, which is much smaller, it fits better under the head of my planer -- though it is still somewhat difficult to position because of its small tip. The set). There is no reason for you to have both, and I will probably sell either one or the other one eventually. It seems to me that the Multi Gauge offers the best performance, however, if the Rotacator tip could be larger, that would probably be the

Set jointer knives as quickly and accurately as possible with this method
5/5

The Rockwell 37-series came to me as a gift By way of my father, I inherited a 220 jointer from my grandfather, so it's a double legacy I'm unlikely to ever part with. I cleaned up the mess, but I needed to align the knives. The magnetic tools that are supposed to hold the blades in place while you set them didn't work for me. It was not a good result. It took a while for the straight edge to adjust, but it became somewhat better. I came to my senses and bought the Multigauge. The knives were all set to less than a minute in less than 30 minutes. When the gibb bolts are tightened all the way, we have a 001 variance. The 37-digit code is only valid if you have it A 220 or other jointer that does not have jack screws may not be as easy to get the knives into position. By using a small pick tool (see photo), I was able to lift the sides of the knife just enough to achieve a reading equal to 0 on the dial. Additionally, because the frame was adjustable, no adjusting was needed to get the fence at a true 90 degree.

A top-notch product This is a decision you will not regret
5/5

Five stars are rarely given to me I could give this five stars, but this deserves The fit and finish on this item are excellent. Surfaces of machined faces have a finely ground surface, and they are perfect in terms of flatness and being square to adjacent An instrument purchased to set up and adjust equipment for woodworking, but it has a huge range of other applications. A good dial indicator that can be adjusted in a variety of ways Its versatility can be increased by using tips that increase its capabilities. My wish would be for the case to be plastic My plan is to make this a custom case. The investment was well worth it.

This is a must for all shops
5/5

There is an older Craftsman 6 1/8-inch jointer, model no. 103, in my shop. A couple years ago, I bought the 20620, which has been a headache ever since. deflection/squareness and the bed, which had its own problems, as well as the knives' height adjustment, I never was able to get it to work at all. Since I am lacking the funds to invest in a new jointer, and space in my shop is also an issue, I decided looking into a gauge to help set the knives (my major shortcoming) as a last ditch effort to get the old girl up and running again. This gauge proved to be the best option after I did some research on the web. Mind you, I paid almost twice as much for the gauge as I did for the jointer. Thanks to Mult-Gauge for sending me the Mult-Gauge as soon as possible. Because it was packaged well, there was no damage to the product. While the dial indicator is not the best one on the market, it does the job just fine and the cast iron base was well executed with no sharp edges. There are a few small marks on the front of the casting, however. The sprues look as if they were made from a punch, possibly to check for internal stresses or cracks in the casting. Besides that, we had a very good trip.
It was easy to set up the gauge. My jointer is the only person I have said that about. It is all in all a savior to have this gauge. By using this tool, I was able to set the edge on my table, the height of my knives, and square the fence more accurately than what I was able to do with a Despite all that, the truth would eventually come to light. Using this machine, I attempted to run a piece of walnut across its face then ran its edge. Despite the inconsistencies in this machine, I was able to get A boat anchor became a useful tool for bench top jointing with this gauge. The gauge has a lot of value for every penny and should last for decades if it is It appears that there have been some complaints, so if you wish to replace it, you should choose a replacement indicator with a stem diameter of A stem/plunger length of at least 2" and a diameter of 375" would be ideal. This is 035. It would be great if OneWay could really scale this gauge to its full potential by extending the casting 3/4" across the back and 1/8" thick so it could ride inside the miter slot of a table saw so you could set your fence at the same time.

The idea is excellent
3/5

I really like the casting, but the dial gauge is very cheap and isn't as reliable as I would need (the warranty on it doesn't cover it as well). It takes a thump to refresh the gauge when it is stuck. cast holds the gauge of the product and is the real meat of it it is simply useless without it. However, they cheap out on the dial gauge and pay the price. To be able to trust the measurement on this device, I will need a gauge that I can rely on until I find one that I can rely on. In retrospect, it might have been better to never have bought it.

Despite having marks on the dial, the dial caliper does not hold its measurements
3/5

You can use a variety of different readings just by gently picking up the stem and returning it to the base you are setting up with. I have never encountered a worse caliper in my life. In addition, this item can't be returned. If I had known that, I would have taken action. I recommend that you don't purchase this.

This is a great A follow-up repair required me to use this tool to "dial in" my 20" planer
5/5

Everything went well and I was able to get the table and head parallel in less than a minute. I have been an aircraft mechanic for very many years and I have also managed jet engine machine shops, so I have a fair bit of experience using precision measuring instruments. I think this tool is very nice, with cast iron ground nicely and angles that are It is appropriate to use the dial indicator for this purpose. My next task will be to fine-tune my joiner. It was the reduction in snipe from my planer that surprised me most. The thumbs up are in order.

Jointers will find this awesome
5/5

The machining quality of Jessem's tools is absolutely impeccable and the price is fair for what you get. I am now a huge sucker for machined woodworking tools from Canada. As with any other situation, this is no exception. It's awesome to see so much cast iron being machined perfectly. It is of course cheaper to buy something else, but this will last and many others will enjoy it long after I am gone, so I doubt it will end up in a landfill, which is good for me. The jointer knife setting works amazingly well with it.

A great leveling tool
5/5

The oil that came in the bag of oil was a bit dirty, but it's easy to clean. My various squares (Woodpecker, Starrett, etc. ) measure it dead flat on its edges and at a perfect 90 degrees. It may rust, but that is to be expected for a tool that can rust. I would not hesitate to purchase again if the need arises. As I have only been using it for a few months, I am not able to comment on its longevity. The tool you use every day is also not one you use every day. In my experience it has always been perfect when I have needed it. I highly recommend it.
