How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

A multifunction tool that includes a marking gauge, center finder and a scribing compass
It works great to find the exact location of a center
The center of the mark may be up to 2 inches
This set includes a pencil and a pen core
The marking gauge has two independently adjusted rods that are suitable for marking both sides of a mortice at the same time

Questions & Answers

The rods look quite long. How long are they in total?

A rod's length without a screw is 110 mm from its point to flat end.

In what way should I use this to mark for dovetails using the wheel marking gauge?

In addition to its use as a center gauge, this item can also be

In what case is the "arm" of the gauge the longest that it can be? Is it possible to strike a line deeper than the surface of the board?

The center-axis can be used when The board has to fit between the arms of the finder, but the arm's length is arbitrary (since they are only guides). It is possible to use the thickest stock possible (mark a 1" center line into the board) if the gap between the arms is 2".

After a little tinkering, it turns out to be a good tool
4/5

I am impressed with the quality, solid construction, and easy use of the gauge. The only complaint I have is that the wooden pencils provided for insertion in the center hole deform under the pressure of the thumb screw, which results in the "center found" line not being in the center of the hole. I applied several carefully applied layers of masking tape around the pencil to tighten up its fit in the hole in the center, allowing me to not need In this way, the gauge was effectively corrected for accuracy. The manufacturer could provide a metal scratch in place of the pencils That would be a wonderful addition to this tool, a pin with a handle that fits precisely into the center hole. If you wish to bore another thumb, this could be done If there are two screw holes to the right of the center hole, it would be possible to include a second thumb screw to hold the wooden pencil in place more precisely.

This is an excellent tool! A previous buyer made a suggestion to improve the opposing screws on the pencil holder, and I have been happy with the results
5/5

Effort should now be directed towards achieving and maintaining true centre within a given scribe. A very practical method is provided here. This is a well-designed tool made with solid materials using solid engineering.

I like it, and they now ship a more updated version
5/5

There was a complaint in one of the earlier reviews that the pencil was off-centered. It was impossible to adjust the grip due to the single thumb screw, but now both sides have thumb screws and the pencil comes with a metal sleeve. With the pencil, you can either screw it down or put it in the sleeve and press down on it. This allows you to control the pressure and depth. That's a great version of the original, it's an improved one. *br
In general remarks, the main metal block feels like some type of zinc alloy, the rods seem to be stainless steel, or at least I'd like to think they're stainless steel since I live by the sea and generic carbon steel eventually rusts. Although not shown in the product photos, it comes with two Allen keys that will turn the thumbscrews, although you probably won't need them unless you want to tighten the screws really Overall, I am very impressed with this marking gauge/centre finder and wish I had known about this product years ago. It is much better than the homemade wooden one I had.

Finding the center is not a great deal of fun
3/5

My intention was to use it for center finding purposes, but it has not provided satisfactory results. There is no need for such a bulky and complex product for this I would not buy this product again because it is difficult to obtain an accurate center point by measuring the same board from both sides.

You're going to need a kit
4/5

The set comes with quite a few parts and pieces, including two Allen Wrenches to tighten or adjust. It also includes everything you see plus the wrenches, a pencil, and two ballpoint In my opinion, there was more, but I will need a box or some other container to store There is no way that I can wait until a need arises to use this.

Marker that is very effective
5/5

In order to manually resaw a kerf guide, I marked this with the kerf guide. A saw blade could easily follow the line it provided because it was very clear. Despite its weight, it is highly durable.

My opinion is that I am not There were a few things I didn't like about this "tool"
3/5

My only concern is that it is difficult to set per dimension and is hard to accurately scribe a line. I highly recommend the iGaging Digital 3-D Measurement System. Replace 1 Marking Gage with 2.
