Questions & Answers
I would recommend this tape measure for track and field use. There is a foot and an inch on one side and a metric side on the other side. I wasn't expecting many high level measurements anyway because it is fiberglass, so it can't be used for record measurements. The tape will handle a wide variety of throws as it is a 100 meter tape.
"Waterproof" simply means, can it be shook up and left to dry or is it likely to damage it as soon as it gets wet? If you reply "yes" then I am sure to agree. In this case, the frame and tape are plastic and fiberglass, respectively. The problem is that there are a few metal pieces in there, and if you use it in the rain a lot, it might rust eventually, but it wouldn't have a major effect on Using it in the wet grass has never been an issue for us.
There's a grip knob on the end of the reel (which spins as you turn the knob to wind up the cassette) and it can be turned upside down to serve as either a storage compartment or as a grip knob. This has never caused me a problem & the tape has never come off during my testing Two of them are available to me, the 300 inch standard and the 100 meter
In the metric scale of the tape measure, centimeters are marked from 1 to 99, with each centimeter containing five 2mm slashes. Numerals 1 to 99 are next to each meter's centimeters. The numbers 1 to 100 are shown in red on the chart. There is a 1/8" slash mark on the reverse side and the feet numbers are marked in red starting from In addition, the tape measure has a fast geared rewind function, which is very handy.

I used this for the first time and it unrolled into a huge mess as soon as I started using it. As it turned out, the tape had been twisted in several places and had somehow rolled into loops. My first task was to disassemble the tape and slowly wind it back up again. After a half hour of rearranging the desk, we had it straightened As soon as I straightened it, it worked as expected.
The fact that it has both metric and English graduations is just wonderful. When it comes to our measuring system, the USA is so far behind the rest of the world. It's helpful to me to use both, not only in the classrooms but in my jobs as an architect or home inspector. Unlike some tapes, Lufkin tapes are of very high quality, dry fast, and easy to roll up.
It has been used in the field so many times that I am familiar with it. Besides being reliable, sturdy, lightweight, and quick, it's also quick and easy to use. I would just like to see a metric scale on both sides of the chart.
While it was very useful in the field, it kept kinking as I was using.
The tape measure I'm using is great. A very durable material. On one side, it is meters, and on the other, yards. The roll can be rolled up and wound It is a bright yellow color and is easily spotted. Exactly what I was looking for.
I loved that it never kinked or tore even after all the abuse it took. I really like how well it stretches.
A very sturdy, clear, durable material that does not stretch very much at all (I have previously used a much more flexible fiberglass). Rolls out easily and is easy to read. Pulls out easily and is easy to roll up.
Can't seem to make it all add up-- It will have to be taken one step at a time.
