Questions & Answers
Because most lasers aren't visible in daylight at any distance, you'd have to wait until it was dark.
Yes, it works well outside, but you must use the included "receiver" to pick up the laser beam and determine whether or not you are level. The laser on anything is invisible beyond about 5 feet. br>I use it on a regular basis, and it stands up to my abuse.
On horizontal planes, this leveled itself.
On kits, we are unable to alter or substitute items.

It works well and is reasonably priced. All of the laser's accessories were included in a nice hard case. br>br>The laser works with both AA and rechargeable batteries, which is convenient because I'm sure I'll forget to charge them at some point, but I can just pop in a few AAs and get back to work. The grade rod is extremely long - br>br> This thing is capable of digging basements. The tripod is sturdy and appears to be able to withstand the test of time. br>br>Overall, the laser's build quality appears to be on par with what I'd expect at this price, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.
I received the product but didn't have time to use it for another four weeks. It didn't turn on at all. Light flashed for a split second before disappearing. I double-checked the battery pack's connections and rechargeable battery pack. Everything appeared to be in order. Allow two days for it to charge. It's still not going to work. I planned to read the manual and try again later, but life got in the way. I tried again today, but I was unsuccessful. When I contacted Amazon's customer service, I was informed that the return window had closed three days prior. Almost $500 has been squandered. I was let down.
Initially, I used this to clear a hilly site. My requirements were simple: each post needed to be within 6 inches of the next. It served its purpose. It's nice that it's rechargeable so I don't have to worry about batteries, and if they run out, I can simply replace the chargeable pack with AA batteries. The Bottom Line. My next task is to build a fenceline, so we'll see how this works out with the other function.
I haven't had the opportunity to use the device yet. I'm giving it two stars because it arrived in the case with a broken hinge this morning, and I can't find another place to contact with complaints at this time; however, I need the unit today, so I'll use it. Consider how the box was handled during shipping. In terms of hinges, the case feels a little flimsy.
Ok. It's only been five minutes since I last used it. I've done a lot of construction work for other people using their tools. This laser level appears to be poorly constructed in comparison to the one I used, and it appears to be missing a couple of features that I would consider useful. If possible, I will modify or upgrade this purchase. Who knows, it might surprise me if it doesn't. The majority of the other reviews appeared to be positive, and I had heard good things about this brand.
Although I enjoy having a kit, this one is a little pricey for what you get. If I could go back in time, I would have put together my own kit for a lot less money and with much better equipment. I would have returned it if I hadn't been in a hurry for a job that required a laser right away. After three weeks of BS with shipping, I canceled the order after learning that it had been damaged in transit and had been returned. This one appeared out of nowhere after I put together another laser kit and placed an order.
Mine is having trouble turning on; sometimes it will turn on with a simple push of a button, and other times it will not. When it works, the tripod moves as the laser spins, causing the beam to move up and down (yes, the tripod is firmly planted in the ground). br>br>The tripod that comes with this model is far too weak to keep the head stable on the top, especially when the shaft is cranked up. The beam was bouncing almost an inch at 25' with the shaft raised about four inches; this was driving me NUTS trying to level an area - I didn't realize the beam was moving until I noticed it. The receiver has a two-inch "area" for reception as well, and if you are above or below this elevation, it will not detect anything. A "course" setting on the receiver that tells you if you are above or below the beam would be extremely useful. br>br> Returning this and hoping that the next one turns on when the button is pressed (every time lol) and getting one with the heavy duty tripod because it made life a LOT easier when it did work right. A good home used Self leveling rotary laser is not as good as the commercial units I used in the trade.
This unit is simple to install and operate. It's a good deal for occasional use. The tripod is a little light for a contractor's everyday use. The laser head itself is well constructed, and the batteries last for a long time between charges. It's perfect for my needs around a recreational property. The tripod for commercial use is why I gave it four stars. It gets a five-star rating from me.
When performing the calibration procedure and following the instructions, it is specifically stated that a flat screwdriver should be used. After failing to use the method specified in writing, I contacted customer service, who informed me that the adjustment screw had been changed to a 5MM Hex, which was not specified in the calibration instructions. As a result of the printed instructions not matching the product I was sent, the flat screwdriver stripped the hex that is buried inside the unit, and now I have a useless $700 tool. BEWARE OF THE BUYER!.
