Questions & Answers

Will this work well for excavation outside?

I don't think so in terms of excavation. Even with the red glasses on and against a white piece of fascia, I couldn't see the light from more than 10 feet away. Instead, I resorted to taking the bus. I believe the general rule is that if it has a laser that can see from 20 feet away, it will cost $200. Best wishes to you.

Is it possible to use this in the verticle position in daylight and see it clearly? A laser detector is a device that detects the presence of lasers. ?

I tried to set up a 30 foot pool with it, but it wouldn't let me. I couldn't get a moving site with it set in the center, but I could see it if I moved the laser one post at a time by hand. It works great inside, and I had to rent one to finish the pool.

Is anyone using the Johnson laser with a laser detector mounted on a pole or rod? If that's the case, what receiver/detector did you get to go with it?

From the beginning, the laser did not work. I returned it, but the replacement didn't work either. So, because the laser is a POS, I did not use a receiver/detector.

Is there a way to choose between a vertical and a horizontal line?

Only a 360-degree horizontal line is produced by the head.

At this price point, it did the job
4/5

For an outdoor pavilion kit that was a kit, I needed a laser level to accurately set the tops of footers in the ground, and each of the six legs had to sit on a perfectly level footer all the way around the 31 foot span. After doing some research, this appeared to be the most cost-effective tool for the job. It performed admirably and efficiently. The only thing I wish for is a brighter laser spot. I couldn't see the spot at all when I did this outside during daylight hours, spinning it, and placing a 2x4 piece of wood 17 feet away from the center where it was spinning. What I had to do was temporarily position the 2x4 where I needed to measure up level from the ground, turn the spinner off, and move the head around with my hand, looking at the 2x4, manually stopping the laser to point it on the 2x4. After that, I'd go over to the 2x4 and measure each footer with a tape measure. It simply did not work when I spun it in broad daylight from a distance of 15 feet. However, once I began manually spinning the pointer and stopping it to rest on my target boards, it worked fine and completed the task. While spinning, it probably works a lot better indoors. My take: You may be out of luck if you need to keep it spinning outside to draw a line on the ground, for example. The filter glasses that came with the kit were also insufficient. According to other reviews, slower spinning means better visibility - That is entirely correct. If you are 12 feet away and staring at 6 inches from your target outside, the faster it spins, the less you will be able to see it. However, if you slow it all the way down, or even manually spin it to stop at your target, the spot of light is bright enough outside to make a visible stationery dot to take your measurement. Although I did not use it, the tripod appears to be of good quality - It seemed to be of reasonable quality. Because the case is single-piece plastic, it will crack if you open and close it too many times, but for the price, it was perfect for me as a homeowner project manager.

Junk that is incredibly cheap but completely worthless! This item should be removed from Amazon's marketplace
3/5

It doesn't work as advertised, and unless you're used to working in the dark, this level will only be visible for about 5 feet. I was so disappointed with this level that I went out and bought a cheaper brand that was still better, but just as useless. This, as well as its counterpart by Alton, should be black-and-white. balled from Amazon until the vendors either update the description to reflect the true brightness of the lasers or lower the price to around $10. (It's just not worth any more. ) ) A tripod is a far superior tool to a level. My fourth purchase from this line of tools finally worked, and it worked very well. This one, as well as the Alton (which I will also review), are not worth your time or money. ) Take a look at the Hammerhead HLCL 360; it's well worth the money, as you'll see in my review of their product, which will be published soon (I'm in love with it!). ) DJC.

Its ok

If you're a serious person who requires a serious level, go somewhere else. This is the third time I've used it, and while it works, it's more of a toy than a serious tool. br>It's made of cheap plastic that isn't self-leveling and is difficult to assemble. The laser is weak and has a slow pulse rate. br>br>If you only need this for hanging pictures or something unimportant inside, it will suffice.

What a great product! It is unbeatable in terms of value

After grading the ground, I used it to build an above-ground pool. I'll use it to lay the foundation with posts and cinder blocks. Very nice item!!.

Other reviews have said similar things
3/5

The laser is not too bright, as other reviews have stated. Outside, the laser must be shady or dark to be visible, so it would work best inside. It was only for a deck that wrapped around my house that I required it. I used it in the early morning before the sun rose on that side of the house, and it worked perfectly. The pod is fantastic and can be used for a variety of purposes such as cameras, etc. It was reasonably priced, and I have no complaints.

Although it performs admirably, the price is difficult to match
4/5

Although it performs admirably, the price is difficult to match. Even when set to full speed, it takes a nudge to get it spinning. If I had paid more, I wouldn't be as happy. It does what you need once you've set it up with the bubble levels and nudge it to get it going.

It's only suitable for use in small, dimly lit spaces
3/5

I was placed in the center of a 16ft x 20ft room with only one 60" x 40" window, and on a sunny day, I couldn't see the red line without my glasses. It's only suitable for use in small, dimly lit spaces. Spend a few extra dollars for better models, in my opinion.

It is in good working order

Make the most of your intelligence. Use a pole to support the rotary laser receiver. People, don't waste your time. Make the most of your intelligence. This is an excellent solution. In Florida, a 30 by 40 shed foundation and block are used in full sun.
