The Claris packaging is for the EU, but the filter is the same. The Clairs filter can be found on the Jura website when you choose the United Kingdom. Clearyl is the filter that appears when you choose USA.
JURA employs modern RFID technology to allow the filter and coffee machine to communicate. Any machine with an intelligent water system (I.W.S.) will be able to use it. ®) detects the presence of a filter and switches to filter mode, initiating the rinsing process. When I ordered Clearyl filters, I received CLARIS filters that had been rebranded as Clearyl. CLARIS filters are considered "gray market" in the United States because they are not sold there. The Jura espresso machines with smart filters force you to descale because the machine reads the part number from the RFID chip. This defeats the purpose of using these filters, as you'll now have to purchase the descaling solution as well.

If you require the genuine Clearyl Smart Water Filter, do not purchase this item because the seller has substituted a European filter (Claris) and mislabeled the packaging with the Clearyl label. This is an example of a classic bait and switch. In an 11/19/18 review, a buyer mentioned the same issue. The Jura filter needs to be replaced on a regular basis, and this is the one that is recommended, so there aren't many options.
