The O ring for the canister was missing in mine. The filters are all that is needed.

Which is better for a WH filter: a 5 micron or a 20 micron filter?

In general, the lower the number, the more the filter eliminates. They will, however, need to be changed more frequently. We use a 20 because our well isn't too hard, and it's fine for us; we change it every two months or so.

Is this something that could be used in a kinetico system?

I'm not familiar with the system mentioned. My only knowledge is that my well-wisher advised me to use 20 micron filters!

On Amazon, they're much less expensive. It is very simple to set up. I went out and bought some extras. When I'm down to my last one, I'll place an order. It cleans out our well of all dirt and debris.
