I used a painted surface, which the manufacturer does not recommend; As long as the surface is flat and not curved, I don't see why it wouldn't stick to a well-clean fiberglass surface. It's probably a good idea to keep a stash of large 3M Command Strips on hand just in case.
Yes, it adheres to the surface of my painted wood door.
If it won't fit inside the cabinet, they'll make a smaller version for you.

I wasn't expecting it to last as long as it did. It's got to be some kind of air-activated epoxy. br>The installation process was much easier and quicker than all of the precise measuring I had done before opening the package contents. br>One flaw I'd point out is that the actual rod you hang the towels on lacks a slot and pin, causing the rod to roll on you once assembled. For one thing, I like it because the towel glides well when you pull it back on; a lot of folks can roll with it since the towel rolls smoothly when you pull it off. You can now set it up like this one so that even if you don't keep the towel.
Fell off. Very let down. This towel bar was purchased to hang outside our glass shower enclosure. I mounted the towel bar according to the instructions and planned to leave it unattended overnight. The towel bar was on the bathroom floor when I woke up the next morning. I'm not going to pay extra to get it back. The towel bar has a nice finish and appears to be very sturdy. The adhesive isn't strong enough. Too bad.
Everything arrived in perfect condition, having been carefully packaged. These are lovely towel racks. The 16" on the wall above the sink is being used to dry hands and dishes. I'm going to make a dish rag holder out of a 12" bar. This will significantly reduce the cost of paper towels, which is why I ordered these two towel bars in the first place. They're strong and well-made, with a lovely stainless steel finish. The adhesive backing makes it simple to install. I followed the instructions and hung nothing on them for 24 hours after they were installed. They are now comfortably seated, and I am confident that they will remain so for a long time, as the price was extremely reasonable for the quality. It was the best purchase I've ever made!.

I'm considering purchasing a second for my kitchen. I'd like it to be a little longer, so I'll look for another unit to put in my bathroom.

It's set up in a way that I enjoy. It's another of the best adhesive shelving items I've ever bought for my bathroom. This is an absolute must-have. I'm going to get some more for my bathroom wall and door. I love that the same company makes them in larger sizes.
