Questions & Answers
The distance between the center and the center mounts is 24 inches. The finished bar measures 23" in length. It's large enough to hang two bath towels without looking cluttered.
There is no movement or rolling of the bar.
The rod that connects the two end pieces is a separate rod called the bar. I even had to shorten mine to fit my seaside cottage's older style bathroom door. It's an excellent piece!
The length of the rod is 24". It will measure approximately 23 1/4" once it is slid into each end that supports the rod. When they're mounted, they're never exactly 24".

This is an excellent establishment. There are no seams and there is no slop in the finished product. br>br>Don't blame the manufacturer if you can't get a plate/clip to stick to the wall. The mounting plates on this thing are in perfect condition. The only rule is that unless you're an expert, you should never, ever, ever use those little plastic conical anchor inserts to mount anything anywhere; they're a hard material anchor, not for drywall, and if you do use them in drywall, it must be for a very light load. A small painting or a clock, for example. There are a million different wall situations, and the manufacturer can only offer general advice, but expecting four screws to stay in powdery brittle drywall with a friction fit, enduring years of slamming of big wet towels, is ridiculous. br>br>I agree that the instructions and template that come with these bars are completely inadequate. Here's an example: A towel rod can be mounted using the cake method. There is no need for a template, nor is it desired. It makes use of the bar's ACTUAL length, which is useful if you've cut it short. Using a pencil, draw a horizontal line across the wall. To avoid having to remove pencil marks later, I use blue masking tape. br>br>Place the two end caps on the rod, then tape it all together with a few feet of inexpensive electrical tape. It should be pushed. br>br>Place this assembly against the wall in the desired location. Make a circle around each end cap where it meets the wall with the help of a friend. Remove the mounting clips from the assembly and set it aside. Remove the mounting set screw(s) as far as possible without causing them to fall out. br>br>Insert a clip into the center of each circle and mark the three holes that should line up vertically. If you're using a toggle bolt, use the two outer oval holes for screws and the single center hole (which can be a bit small). To check for wood backing behind the sheetrock, drive a screw into each hole. br>br>Tighten the screws if wood is discovered. If not, remove the screws and use a standard sized Philips screwdriver pushed straight in to enlarge the holes. Place anchors in one or both of the holes. br>br>Remove any masking tape that may have been used. The bar should be mounted. Remove the electrical tape from the area. If any adhesive bled from the tape onto the bar, get some nail polish remover. Done.
At first glance, this appeared to be a good fit with the other Moen fixtures I had purchased. The anchors included with the item became very loose after a month and eventually fell off. This does not appear to be designed to hold a heavy, wet towel. The other fixtures used the same anchors and had no problems, but they didn't hold a full load. towel of a certain size For this product, I believe it should have come with much larger anchors, as well as a much thinner and lighter middle bar. For a name-brand product like this, I would have expected a thicker bar and better anchors. It fits in well with the rest of the collection and is stylish; however, I wish it had lasted a little longer.
This was a simple project that this 43-year-old woman was able to complete on her own from beginning to end. I ordered the 24" bar because the studs in the bathroom where I wanted it to go were 24" apart. br>br>I used a stud sensor to find our studs and worked from there. I was pleased with the included guide, which I was able to tape to the wall, level, and then retape. The holes were perfectly drilled, and once the towel bar was installed, it was level as well. This is fantastic. Anchors are included in the box for non-stud assembly, but I've always believed that stud mounts are the best and most secure. br>br>This item did not receive a 5 star rating from me because one of the screws broke off while I was screwing it in. What's worse, the screw's length is still embedded in the wall, so I couldn't remove it and replace it. As a result, my towel bar isn't completely supported on one side, which is disappointing. br>br>I like how there's a whole line of accessories to go with it. Brushed chrome is one of my favorite finishes. Overall . For the price, I think the quality is good.
I got rid of my 20-year-old ones and replaced them with new ones that were of much higher quality. The old one had a horizontal screw pattern, whereas the new ones have a vertical one. As a result, I had to drill new holes only to discover that the provided anchors were incompatible with drywall. I got good drywall anchors after a trip to HD. I noticed the bar was loose after I installed it, and it rattled. That problem was solved with a little Loctite. In the end, I would not purchase these again.
It's not identical, but it's in the same bathroom as the Kohler fixtures and looks similar enough that the differences aren't noticeable. br>br>It arrived in excellent condition. It went together quickly, and with the help of the nice paper template for marking where to screw everything in, it was simple to put together. My only complaint is that the bar jingles and rotates when a towel is placed on it because it fits a little loosely into the wall anchors. It's not a big deal.
I loved all of the other Moden products I bought with this order, but this was too big and I couldn't do anything worthwhile with it. br>br>I HATE having to return things to Kohl's, so I just lose the money because I despise the nightmare of going back to Kohl's. I'd prefer to drop off at USPS, but they no longer provide that service for free with more items. And, because of the lack of service provided, I'm reconsidering my purchases.
