I went with the clear option. Yes, both ends have spring inserts, and yes, it can be cut to fit. Before making your final cut, use a fine-toothed hacksaw to lightly score all four sides.
No, it's hollow, and I didn't even try to break the first one. I reinforced my second with a steel bar, and I could now do chin-ups on it (if my legs were shorter).
7/8" is certainly not the case. And not even 3/4 inch. Not to mention the. It is the 8" that it claims to be. I just got it, and it's almost 10/16" (also known as 5/8"). My broken one is 13/16" wide, and this one is way too narrow to replace it. Please let me know if you know where I can get a wider one that is clear and has springs.
The end caps are included as well. Cutting and installing it is a breeze. Because it's so flexible, make sure it's only used as a towel bar and not by someone who might inadvertently use it as a grab bar to help them get into the tub.

I like the product: 24" Towel Bar except for the [instructions being wrong if you want it to fit nicely] I am grateful for the people who said this before I bought mine, because I thought it would be stiffer, but if it was, I couldn't have warmed the bar with HOT WATER enough to get it in without having to trim the ends. I was able to bend it just a smidgeon. It was just enough to get the Towel Bar into the ceramic holders. That is the best advice I can give to others who want their replacement Bar to fit perfectly with no wiggle or movement. Because it requires some controlled strength, set the hot water temperature to 6 - 8 inches in the middle, giving it a little more flexibility while still keeping it warm. Put one end in and bend a small amount (not easy), which is why I say "controlled Strength," while holding the spring loaded end with your finger and pushing the bar into the other end as gently as possible. Once it's in, the springs will keep it in place without wiggle from end to end. It's possibly even better than the original because it's identical. It easily accommodates two large, damp towels. I was concerned about strength after reading that it bends under weight, but it holds them just fine at 24"; longer ones may not. After two months of procrastinating and using the hook on the bathroom door which has a full length mirror and with triplet girls I heard about it on a regular basis as it was blocked and I was the one who broke the old one, I'm very happy. a wife The children are once more joyful. Now it's time to move on to the next aspect of your home. [As comedian Alan King put it, "Anyone who buys a house DESERVES it. " "] The maintenance is never-ending.
To measure, insert one end of the tape measure into the slot into which the rod will slide, and then measure to the inside edge of the opposite side bracket. The towel rod I replaced was 24 inches long, so I cut the replacement down to 23 3/4 inches and it fit perfectly; thank goodness I bought two! I followed the instructions for the first one, but it was too short, so I had to throw it away.
Because ours is the type with the tile holders on either side, I wasn't sure we'd be able to find a replacement when it broke, but thankfully I found this one. After trimming it down to fit, it was a breeze to put together. Trimming was a breeze as well. It took us only a few minutes to set it up. It's so simple that I could do it all by myself. I'm so relieved to have a functioning towel bar once more!.
The plastic isn't very thick, so it feels flimsy to me. However, I'm not sure you'll find a better option, and I'd buy it again. br>br>The instructions, in my opinion, are incorrect. I'm not sure why they said you should cut it shorter than the gap between the two holders. Because the plastic bar can go into the holder by more than 1/4 inch, I made mine 3/8 inch longer than the distance between the brackets. Then I attached the spring-loaded ends, and the rod was perfectly in place. Although I could have cut the bar a little longer, the ends of the cut bar are on both sides behind the holder edge. Their instructions would reveal the plastic bar's end, which would be unsightly.
This is a fairly light-weight game. weight, hollow bar (as one might expect at this price). The instructions for cutting it down to size were a little hazy. br>br>The first time I cut it too long and couldn't fit it in; the second time I cut it too short and couldn't fit it in; the third time I cut it too long and couldn't fit it in; the fourth time I Then I went back over the instructions, measured again, and cut it a little too short; it fits, but not as well as it could (and isn't as tight as it could be). br>br>However, it is inexpensive enough that I will (at some point) order another.
It's a perfect fit, it's sturdy, and it's simple to install.
The replacement towel bar was simple to install. Because the distance between the brackets was just over 18", I decided to go with the 24" bar. I calculated that the length required was about 1" longer than the distance between the brackets. A small saw was used to cut the replacement. Snapped the bar into place after replacing the spring-loaded end. The bar is adequate for its purpose, but it falls short of the one I was replacing. I would have given it five stars if the bar had been a little more sturdy.
It would have fit fine if I had installed it in the manner I was about to. Instead, I turned off my brain and blindly followed the instructions that came with it, and when I went to install it after making the cut, it was too short; you can see how this happened if you look at the instructions that came with it. Insert the bar into one end, then mark it 1/8 inch short of the other. br>It also received one star for durability and value because, unlike the plastic bar it replaced, it is made of very cheap plastic that bends easily. I'll look for a different vendor who has a more durable bar.
