Questions & Answers

Can this mailbox be mounted or looked good on a 4 by 4 post? Thanks in advance. ?

This mailbox mounts perfectly on a 4x4 post. Included in the box are 4 lag bolts that you use to attach the mailbox to the 4x4 using the pre-drilled holes in the post. To keep moisture and debris out, holes are drilled into the floor of the box, and then a floor cover goes over everything to keep moisture out.

WHY WOULD THERE BE A NEED FOR FAST TRACK MOUNTING?

Hello Pete, I just saw this email in my inbox. You do not receive the fast track mounting system with this item! My mailbox wasn't in the right place so I had to go to the hardware store to buy mounting materials, cut and drill holes, paint, and install the bracket. There are many differences between situations, but I spent about $45 in my case. It took me three hours to install the parts and get them from the store. The bigger model with the fast mounting system would have been what I would have chosen if I had the chance to buy it again. Ed *br

A sturdy design and easy installation are its main selling points
3/5

Approximately a month ago, I bought this with the money I lost after my email A sturdy design and easy installation are its main selling points. It is indeed hard to open the lower door of the mail room, which I open to pick up mail. It is not true that the top door, where mail is dropped, prevents leveraged entry because mailman are using it to drop mail. The mail box that I woke up to this morning was broken. The top slot of the box was bent when a crowbar was shoved through it. In the end, a gaping hole was left at the location where they picked up.

While water does seem to get into the item when it rains, the product appears to be of high quality
3/5

I have found this mailbox to be very durable. In our area, mail thefts have been on the rise so I wanted a locking mailbox, as has been the case with most people here. Upon reading reviews, I decided to purchase this item, and it did not disappoint when it reached me. My expectations were way off, it was much heavier and bigger than I expected it to be, and it was made of thick, coated steel. The thin-cut we used to have was nothing like our old 'regular' one. In comparison to the metal box I traded in, which weighed nothing, this one weighs a lot more, over 20 lbs. You need to make sure your post is in good shape. I tried fishing my hand into the slot but I was not able to reach anyplace inside the main box. The mail receive flap is very strong and has a full hinge along its lower edge. A reinforced metal welded front panel and anti-theft provisions are located in the lower compartment This feature allows you to pry the lock open If I use a crow bar to open this, I still find that it's pretty difficult. In order to remove the box, one must remove the lower box part (the area where received mail is hidden). The box is mounted with lag bolts and from the inside, so no access can be gained. The kit came with both the lag bolts and the drill bit itself, which was great. I will update my review if we have a break in or if the box fails, but judging by its appearance the thieves would likely put it in an easier box to break into. In any case, it was heavier and larger than I thought it would be. You may want to look at the size and weight in the description to make sure that it works for you, but for me, that was fine. A brief update Even though there haven't been any break-ins yet, I have noticed water seeingp into the house with heavy rain, as noted in the first review. It was a bit wet when the mail was delivered last time. For my last mailbox, which cost about $20, there was no water leak, so I'm taking one star off. For its primary purpose (mail theft), the box still works for me, but when water gets in, it's not as nice. I likely will need to purchase a higher riser for my floor box, and the liner that comes with it has to be higher as well. "- " I just updated It appears to let the mail get wet when it's To see if there is something I can do or where to seal, I emailed support at mail boss as soon as I found out about them. I would rate this overall at 3 stars.

The locking mailbox is very good I think this is the best product at this price
4/5

I decided to upgrade my locked mail box after a rash of mail thefts in my area. The new box is more difficult to fish (most of these thefts are people just setting down and finding anything they can get their hands on), It is also important to me to be able to send and receive small packages this box does that perfectly without adding any exposure to fish. Having read reviews on Box. net, I decided to go with the Mail Manager this weekend, and installed it this Sunday. I found this box here on Amazon and it retails at about $60. The box replaces an older version of the Gibraltar MSK00000 mailbox available from Amazon. Despite being older, my box looked the same as when I bought it. There was too much room inside the box to fish by hand and definitely with any tool that helped you reach further inside the mailbox. Also, it appeared that the box would be very easy to pry open, which I confirmed after installing my new one. I had to pry the lid open with a screw driver for about three seconds, and it would probably take about a second to do now that I understand I am going to show you This is an attractive box, especially for the price paid. It accepts small packages and is designed so that you would have to have extremely thin hands and arms to handle it by hand (if you could even do that, anyway), and there is no angle for a grabber tool to grasp. If someone is skilled at using a sticky object suspended from a string, they might be able to pry the box open with their fingers, but they'd have a lot of work to do. If they went to that much effort, they might just pry it In terms of prying open the box, while I think the lock and steel case make it noticeably tougher than the box it replaces (and other boxes in this price range), I think it would not hold up to a serious attempt. In my test using a screwdriver, I was able to get the driver into the hole and pry the side or top of the locked door, and the metal started to bend fairly It didn't feel strong enough to pull, so I didn't actually try to open it, since I didn't want to damage the box I just bought. However, I would be amazed if it held up to a serious push. It would bend open if the lock stood up (which I suppose it would it just might), so you could get to the mail, and then you would have to replace the box and/or the door. It can be argued that you would know that you had something stolen, rather than having your boxes filled with easily fished items with no way to know what was taken. The pros are Please note The box is very easy to install on an existing wooden post or rail if you have a socket wrench. For a one-person install, I used one of the Gator Grip universal socket wrenches, and it worked perfectly. From the time I unpacked it to completion, the process took me less than 30 minutes. Please note There is no way that the box can be opened with an ordinary tool, and other improvised tools probably will be difficult to use. Please note Small packages as well as mail can be delivered through Hopper. Please note Br>- This is a nice size, not too big, but large enough to hold enough mail for most families for several days. Please note Br>- The lock and construction of this box are heavier than those of other boxes in its The cons are Please note Br>- If you want a box that cannot be pried, you must look for a box with higher-quality steel and tighter tolerances for fit and finish, so that you can't easily insert a screwdriver or other prying tool inside the locking mechanism. As a boot lock, it is essential that you use a lock that is not easily pickable. To get a box like that, you would have to pay at least a few hundred dollars more. The bottom line - As far as I can tell, the Mail Manager is probably the best thing you can get for this price. "- " It is because the advertisements for Mail Boss emphasize that the company prevents mail theft and shows men prying into competitors' mail boxes that I rated this product a four star rather than a five star. The level of security they imply isn't delivered, but I think it delivers a satisfying amount of security for the price. "- " Fort Knox mail boxes seem to offer a good option for those who want a box that is significantly more secure. There are pretty tight tolerances where the edge of the door meets the edge of the box, and they use 1/4" steel (that is far thicker than any official gauge rating). One of our local security stores sells these and I tested it on my own and can tell you that there's no way to open them There is no way for a tool to get in with good leverage, and the metal will not bend under any circumstances. In my opinion, a door over the incoming mail slot must be installed to protect against the rain and animals. My local store lists it at $445 plus tax for a mailbox with a door (instead of just an open mail slot as their base models provide). Their lowest cost model (Fortress) is $348 plus shipping on their website. There is a possibility that you will need to install a new post (with a concrete base) to hold the mail box, which weighs about 100 lbs, and installing something that heavy would be better performed by two people. If you include postage and labor, you are looking at well over $500. I have researched other products at all price levels and it provides much more security than anything I've seen at any price point. Overall, it represents a significant step up from the $100 range of the Mail Manager.

I'm not happy with the design
3/5

After installing this mailbox in June 2016, when I installed several conventional mailboxes down the row, they appeared to work quite well, especially because other conventional mailboxes have been robbed several times since I had installed it. Several nights ago, a person from the neighborhood used a pry bar on it to gain access to it. As a result of the "wings" included in the design, which were clearly meant for appearance and weather protection, these were also perfect for prying open the door. Our mailbox has only been flooded with junk mail lately. It is possible that I will use Now, you can use the box.

In contrast to what it states, this item is NOT the "Mail Boss"
3/5

There is an item listed as "Mail Boss" but it is a phony one. The "Mail Manager" mailbox is used for this purpose. The system DOESN'T have any 12-volt power sources I. & II. A 14-point scale As listed, steel that is electrogalvanized and welded. There are 14-pages in it A gauge and a 16-gauge It is made out of galvanized steel that has been welded. However, the description of the size and weight listed in the box is not accurate the Mail Boss mailbox is a different size and weight. It is $60 less expensive than the Mail Boss to use the Mail Manager. You are NOT purchasing the Mail Boss mailbox at this price! A block of letters has been painted inside each mailbox slot that It is NOT a good idea to be deceived, that is what I did.
