Above the door, mount a 3/4" backer board, then bolt the hardware on!
Pilot holes need to be drilled. There must be something wrong with it if that doesn't work
This is possible in my opinion. The company doesn't mention all of the UV and other rating stuff, so I can't check that out. Would it be suitable for an area that is reasonably sheltered? It would be my pleasure. To be certain, I would also add a couple of layers of clear coat.
There were instructions included with our kit.

It was installed in February 2019 after I purchased and purchased it Our play area at the time was out of the kitchen on the guest side of the house, where we kept two foster children. Over the hallway entrance, we chose to do a barn door that required a custom door since the arches were so high. The aesthetics of the design The hardware performed well right out of the box (10/10). There was a consistent matte finish throughout all of Our favorite feature on the door is the industrial style bar pull and the recessed handle on the back. The dark stain over pine we chose for the door really highlights the industrial design. We've used the finish for over a year now with no scratches or cracks. In it you will find instructions for installation. (9)
As far as the installation was concerned, the kit worked perfectly. To avoid damaging the cable, I strongly suggest that you install the cable on a header board (see photo). My opinion is that the header board style looks more polished, and the mounting holes and standoffs are unlikely to line up perfectly with your studs. There was a noticeable bow in the wall over the 8 foot span, but that did not affect the installation or the operation Having two people help you hang the rail is also recommended. In terms of function, it includes (10/10)
My only complaint is that the rail sections do not match up exactly at the center (where the two rail sections meet). Doubler plate (see photo of plate with four bolts and plate) connecting the two does not appear to be able to be adjusted. Consequently, the rollers pass over the joint and generate an audible sound. If the joint needs smoothing out, I could use a file, but have not yet done that. The rollers when opening and closing the door are extremely smooth and quiet apart from this "kick" when they hit each other. Having a sturdy handle and a comfortable grip is very important. A solid foundation is key to durability As far as the finish on rails, handles, rollers, etc. is concerned, it's doing well. Although the motion is still smooth and quiet, the sound is not audible. The value of the parameter is (8. 5/10)*At the time of purchase, I wasn't very familiar with what the cost should be. I had about $200 invested in materials for the door, so $105 Since then, I have seen similar kits for as low as $60, but the reviews on those kits are very inconsistent. This kit didn't pose any issues to me (aside from the alignment of the two rail sections, as noted), so I am not concerned about the price. Overall, we are very pleased with our purchase and will likely use the kit again for future installations if the need.
Two rooms were added to our house one room was used as an art room for my wife, and the entryway between it and our living room was covered with double sliding doors. Look at how gorgeous the walnut stained doors and frames are. As in the other room, the sliding door I used for the entrance between the 2nd room (which is also a mud room to go outside into the back yard) and the living room was a sliding one. There are two sliding doors that work great and both look great, and the addition of french doors makes it even more awesome. Only thing I had to do was to make sure that the lag bolts used were longer than provided because I have an old house (100 years old) which has original lathe and plaster walls which are thicker than typical drywall. I ended up getting bolts that are My wife is in love with these door fittings, and I recommend them as they do not permit an airtight seal as there are typically between 1/2 and 3/4 inch spaces between the doors and the wall, so doors do not drag against the wall when opened and closed. With the aid of a guide piece, the door can also be guided by a groove cut into the bottom, preventing it from sliding into or away from the wall due to kids, pets or strong gusts of wind. In addition, the door is secured at the top with a rubber mount, which prevents the door from rising above There is only one screw holding this mounting (located between the rail and the top of the door) so it is easy to remove if the door needs to be removed.
The weight and solidity of the object is impressive. While I liked the design as it made installation a little easier, any type of barn door is always going to require some fiddly assembly. Despite my concerns about the shipping, the packaging was excellent, no parts were missing, and shipping was quick. Only thing was that it seemed some parts were missing from the instructions, since the instructions were for a slightly different unit. The method of splicing tracks was changed on my set, but the directions did not reflect the change. All the parts were laid out on a table, so it was very easy to see how they fit My next review will be after I have used this for a few months.
All the hardware and the door were purchased from the same company, so they all match and were originally designed It says to attach the wheels exactly two inches above the top of the door to the first hole in the instructions. It was instinctive for me to drill without thinking about it In other words, the instructions have to be correct! and the parts have to all fit As I was drilling, I realized that that was where the screw for holding the door together was. Thus, I had to adjust my calculations, which was frustrating, but not too bad. It took around 6 hours to put it all together (including putting the door together). The following are my recommendations. Easy to slide and quiet to operate.
Normally, if you want to purchase each item individually, it would cost a lot more. I ordered this kit so that I could install a barn door because all of the components were in it. A lot of care has been taken to ensure quality hardware. This door is complete with all components needed to install it (with the exception of header board lag bolts which we had to use because of where our wall studs were located, but the instructions describe the I compared all barn door hardware products and found it to be the best price out there. Easy to follow and clearly written by someone who understands English, the instructions are easy to follow. An 8 ft tall barn door measuring 30 inches by 8 feet was fitted with the hardware. The product was exactly what we wanted.
As an experienced construction worker who considers himself mechanically inclined, I was very impressed with this product. I found it easy to install, but my domain is construction and I am used to DIY projects. As far as I am concerned, the directions could be more clear. Because of my low basement ceiling, my installation was somewhat custom. I cut my door to fit. Due to this, I had to figure out the clearances for the railings and then figure out the height of the I could place rails on the roof as a guarantee. There is a lot of strength and quality in the hardware and finish. Due to the thinness of the door, I had to cut the bolts. The bandsaw I used worked very well to cut them. It would be in my opinion a good choice to purchase I used it on a 42 inch wide door and it worked great.
