3 or 4 per door might be a good number.
Yes.
The track is not available separately from Prime-Line. As an example, take a look at item 163589 kit.
There were four of them in total (two sets because each door requires two). The set would be enough to fill a closet.

I've had these before and they lasted for years on a 4-volt battery. ft by 8- door panel with a length of ft. Instead of two per door panel, I used three this time. It's running better than it's ever been. Although the nylon does wear out over time, I'm hoping that having three instead of two will help to reduce that wear. In any case, we're talking about 7 years or more of daily use before we need to replace it.
When replacing older items, it's difficult to know if the hardware will work. Regardless of how meticulously you calculate. This was the situation in this instance. The offset didn't work on our doors, but it was well made and a great deal when compared to buying from local stores. Metal thicknesses made the difference, even though the measurements were the same. I'd have had to start over. Drill every hole, as well, which would have caused a problem with placement on balancing the doors because the holes were close but not sized correctly. After I returned them, I received a prompt refund - As a result, I would do business with the seller again without hesitation.
It's simple to put together, and the roller adjustment in the back works flawlessly. It's also quite quiet when rolling. The screws' backs are much wider than standard rollers, so they grab hollow doors better and are less likely to strip holes over time.
The four-pack is mentioned in the description. There were two of us. It couldn't be used because the wheels were warped. I went back and got another item.
Because there was too much friction to turn, I had to loosen one of the screws just a tad to make some adjustments (which was still easier and better than the other kind).
Installing it was a breeze. Was replacing the originals, which had broken when someone passed out and fell through the closet doors.
My 16-year-old found it simple to put them together. year- I've had them in for over a year and they're still working great; I'm very pleased with the quality and price.
